Great Forum but it lacks something

Post by Stormwind »

The F1 Rejects forum is a wonderful addition to F1Rejects, not only for the subject matter but also the people it brings. It's wonderful, However it does lack a general discussion section and/or an other series section. With such colourful and non-beige people, it would be interesting to not be totally restricted to Formula 1 or motor racing for that matter.

My own two pence.

I would like to add it would be nice to have a chatroom for those of us that wish to watch the race while comment about it on the internet with many of our closest e-friends. Perhaps the Kimi Raikkonen Ice Cream and Coke Chatroom?

Please, for the love of god, don't do this.

Mostly, because I can't resist a good conversation... I literally have 30,000 comments on one site.

So we need a 'one eighth of an eye' board? Good plan, I agree.

G'day Stormwind...

Yes, we're aware of your suggestion. Suffice to say that we didn't want to start a board with a thousand forums on every topic under the sun, and end up with 5 posts in each. That's not the way to build a community (IMHO). So we'll soldier on for a little while longer yet until we're sure that this is a goer, in which case we'll open up a couple of further forums.

I might add - an 'anything goes' forum would require more moderation that we're willing to commit to just now. Our aim for this is to be a positive and celebratory place where we revel in the glory of F1's great losers - that's all, let's not get too ambitious just yet. If you want to discuss politics, or religion, or the Scottish YouTube sensation, there are other places for now...

Although we are similarly impressed by the good humour and learned nature of the majority of posters thus far which gives us great hope of expanding a little soon!

Indeed there are thousands of forums out there and I don't want to discuss mundane things like "What did you have for breakfast" and "Do you think that the continued strength of the Yen will make millions jobless around the world". The three forums which basically cover what I visit the F1 Rejects website for, are all I need and adding extra forums with more general content will spoil the forums.

If you want to discuss Football, Rugby, Moto GP, Breakfast, Big breasted braindead actresses then find a forum that suits you other needs.

Big breasted, braindead (aspiring) actresses have long been associated with F1. Ask DC.

So think a forum on this topic would be wholly appropriate.

Big breasted, braindead models have also been associated with Flavio. He married one so that might explain his current whingefest.
Nissanymania! Friday has never been the same since.

I agree that a "General Discussion" forum area will need heavy moderation becasue it will go the way of all such forums and become personal, political, rude and probably a pain for the "owners". It will also encourage non-F1Reject fans to log on, pile in and "start a fight" - not sure how thi smight happen though, unless they say something provocative like "Al Pease is an embarassment to F1 drivers"

I used to go on another car owners forum and the St George's day or Poppy day posts ran to tens of pages and ended up offending people as some comments were deemed racist or hurtful.

I still like my Kimi Raikkonen Ice Cream and Coke Chatroom idea. During the Chinese GP there were three posters on the forum that kept posting back and forth in the Chinese GP thread. A chatroom would've resulted in some interesting conversation and I can only see attendance going up as the rounds return to Europe. The chatroom would basically not need moderation anyway. However, I understand if the site authors don't want to put in the time necessary to set up a chatroom to work.

Well we must take into account how busy the founders and admins of F1 Rejects are. The Podcasts themselves must take quite abit of their time and at the moment they understandably don't seem to keen on the idea of adding to the forum. However there are alternatives. Especially for chatting during live Grand Prixs. The general chat idea though might not have been a good idea on my part.

One is mIRC for text chating, second is Skype for voice chatting. Unfortunately Skypecasts no longer exsist but there's still group calls that can be used. As for the general chat. In both cases, if we get the blessing of the F1 Rejects staff, I would volenteer to host either chat medium live during Grand Prixs. The F1 Rejects staff would also be invited.

Again, this is just an idea on my part. Just trying to add to experience of F1 Rejects.

Big breasted braindead actresses section please!

Or would we be descending into the misogynistic depths plumbed by ITV-F1 and their Pit Babes galleries?

Perhaps a Nicely Sculpted Braindead Sportsmen section would balance this.

Surely you're asking for the thread on the Paul Stoddart forum entitled "Headline of the year" (or something like that) dedicated to Virgin puns...
