Formula Winter League 2001 Sign Up.

Post by Shadaza »

Formula 1 is a global sport watched by millions, but viewer dedication and fanatical support of teams is nowhere near the level of football. The FIA have decide to start a new league based motor racing series where teams run large squads of real drivers based around a home circuit where they can have home and away race meetings.

This series will take place during the winter F1 off-season, beginning in 2001.

This sign up features:

Squads of 8 drivers in which 6 of them race at any given weekend.
A chosen home racing circuit for your team, the team name must include the circuit or circuit region in it's name somehow.
A base colour for home and away liveries.
A pace vs Grip range vs Reliability team combination/upgrade system.
A League Table.
Team Captains.
RNG based driver selection.
A Preseason Transfer Window
A Midseason Transfer Window.

The program used to simulate will be GP2, but with plenty of in-house modifications.

For now, this is the entry form so I can gage interest and move on to the next step.

Team Name:
Home Race Circuit : (Must not be a street circuit, but can otherwise be fictional.)
Home Colours:
Away Colours:
Alternate Colours: (If there is a clash with the other 2 schemes.)

Albert Park is a street circuit when all rounds need to be on permanent race courses, but there is the local Sandown raceway that is also in Melbourne, which I can run.

I will also suggest Phillip Island, if you have a mod for it. It's a fast, flowing circuit with not too many braking points. Also has some decent elevation, mainly noticeable in the last part of the lap.

As Sandown has been taken now, I will go for Phillip Island.

I know that track very much from some MotoGP/SBK games I played and it is really entertaining IMHO.

Nope, Swelgian Warriors will be moved to Zolder unless they want to go somewhere else, or the current Spa team wish to share the venue.

A few of these circuits I can't find GP2 track files for, but that doesn't mean they don't exist somewhere so a link to them would be great, I am missing:

Phillip Island - Australia
Levels Race Way - New Zealand
Montgomery Motor Speedway - USA

Also 16 teams is the max I can run and we have 15 entered, so only one spot remaining.

The next step if for all teams to nominate a driver to be their team captain. If multiple teams want the same driver to lead their team then I shall use weighed RNG to decide, weighing it on who requested the driver first and distance away from said driver's home country (the closer the better.) Though the weight affect will only be a small one.

You can start nominating drivers for the captain and only the captain roll, now. You may want to have a couple of backup drivers in case your first choice gets taken.

Besides generically leading the team, the captain will be important for increasing your chances of signing drivers affiliated with him and will also play a roll in the stability (Random Grip Range) of all drivers in the team, so make sure you have someone quick, reliable and respected.

Shadaza, if you can't find a GP2 track file for Levels Raceway, Team New Zealand's home track will have to be moved to Queensland Raceway (unless there is another New Zealand GP2 track besides Pukekohe available?).

Anyway here's my team captain nominations:
1. Scott Dixon
2. Greg Murphy
3. Paul Radisich
4. Craig Baird

Team Dixie will move to the Nashville Superspeedway - I totally overlooked the fact that you are using GP2. I would like to change my colours then as well, if that's possible. I have edited my post to account for that.

Phillip Island can be found on http://gp2v8.i8.com/ - don't know whether it works, though.

Team Dixie's lead driver will be either Eddie Cheever, Michael Andretti or Sarah Fisher.

Sorry to be a pain, but could we please change my team name to Formula Ahrweiler? That way it feels a little less A1GP and a little more club-based.

Ahrweiler is the district in which Nürburg is located.

Thanks

I did say I would allow fictional tracks, so just picture it as built very early.

15 teams, 14 have nominated a captain, some very interesting choices it has to be said.

Just a final shout out for one more team to enter then captains will be announced, it seems most will be uncontested.
