RIP Froilan Gonzalez

Post by eagleash »

AKA "The Pampas Bull" fast & aggressive, a favourite of Enzo Ferrari, might well have won a World Title if he had not been competing with Fangio etc.
Passed away aged 90.
(Disclaimer: source.... retweet by Maurice Hamilton...still to be confirmed).

RIP.

Link to the news on Autosport. Looks like Sir Stirling Moss is now F1's oldest surviving race winner.

My condolences to JFG.

No, Tony Rolt died in 2008 :(

Robert Manzon is still alive, but he only started racing in 1947...

I believe the last pre-war racer still alive may be Heinz Brendel, who drove for Mercedes in the European Championship in 1939, and is now 98 years old.
