Which former F1 drivers would you like to have back in F1?

Post by Sunshine_Baby_[IT] »

Which are the Formula 1 drivers of the past that you would like to have back in Formula 1 nowadays?
I'm talking about possible comeback (they have to be alive and not too old to race in F1). ;)
I'm Perry McCarthy and Taki Inoue's fan number 1 and I always will be.

Mine would be:

Takuma Sato- he has genuine speed, is a great character, and just really deserves to have another go.
Stephane Sarrazin- it would be great to see how fast he would be in a car that's not a Minardi
HWNSNBM- Who here wouldn't want him to come back ;)
"If you don't like it, overtake or f**k off!"- Niki Lauda responding to complaints of his Brabham BT46 'fan car" throwing debris in drivers' faces.

Rubens Barrichello, if only to see him complete a 20th season in f1

Luca Badoer, so he can finally score a point.

in all seriousness, Bordais, Sato, and Montoya.
also let's be honest here. IndyCar kind of needs a big name like Barrichello. and well over 300+ F1 starts is plenty in my opinion.

Juan Pablo Montoya more than anyone, he was so charismatic, humorous and exciting to watch.
Takuma Sato (and obvious choice)
Jacques Villeneueve
Mika Hakkinen
Giancarlo Fisichella

^ All obvious and already said ^

Some less obvious:

Robert Kubica (Can we have this one?)
Norberto Fontana
Karun Chandhok
Some say GPWS is a bit mad...It is, but blame that godawful Jean Marie-Biasti...

Pedro Lamy, he's only turned 40 today. The way things are with teams signing old drivers, this kid has a bright future.

Pair him up with 43 year old Karl Wendlinger and you have a superb driver lineup, stalwarts of sportscars with solid experience to fall back on in F1.

Katherine Legge once tested a Minardi (in 2005 I believe) - the last lady before Maria de Villota to drive an F1 car.

Sato I would like to see, but I imagine that that would only happen with a return of Honda.

Oh, and Rubens and Bourdais.

Adrian Sutil, obviously.
Jaime Alguersuari, I'll always hate Toro Rosso for that.
JP-Montoya, some of his comments were hilarious.

I don't believe having Barrichello back would change anything, he's had 19 years, that's more than enough.

I'll pick three drivers:
-Takuma Sato: if given a decent car, he still has quite a lot of banzaiosity to deliver, and his fights with Kobayashi would be excellent.
-Juan Pablo Montoya: he was extremely hot headed... and extremely talented and fast. 'Nuff said.
-Sébastien Bourdais: I think he wasn't given a proper chance at STR, he can deliver more than he showed in his one-and-a-half year in F1.

You're right. Sato was not so bad as he was described.
It would be a pleasure to have him back in Formula 1... and I would like to have Super Aguri back too (Sato/Kobayashi at Super Aguri would be great and Super Aguri for sure would not be so rejectful as HRT and Virg...Marussia). ;)

I bet you something valuable that Super Aguri could have turned up at Australia this year with their SA05 revamped to 2012 specification and still qualify for the race.

I'm talking about possible comeback (they have to be alive and not too old to race in F1)."
But probably Inoue is not too old to stay in F1, his results won't change nowadays from when he was younger!

Also,Giorgio Pantano. He has a lot of talent, but being shoved into an uncompetitive Jordan did not show him justice.
