The F1 London Underground Map

Post by Ataxia »

A few issues ago in FourFourTwo, a group of people had renamed stations on the Underground to fit people, clubs etc related to football. So, I thought we could produce something similar for an F1 version. Names can be a pun on the station name, drivers or teams, or something related to the name.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/travel/downloads/tube_map.gif
link to the map

Here's a few I've got:

Lewishamilton (Lewisham)
Piquet Jr at Singapore (Blackwall)
Ricardo Londono-Bridge (London Bridge)

See what you can do!

We have a winner!

I'd think of some rather more out-there substitutions, such as "Interesting Flowerpot" for Kew Gardens, "Wall of Champions" for Canada Water, "Williams' Old Sponsors" for either Canonbury or Cannon Street (the first is better, though), "Simtek's Old Sponsors" for Russell Square, and "Bernie Goes To Toni & Guy" for High Barnet.

I was thinking of a way to get HWNSNBM in there somewhere - the obvious station is King George V on the Pedro De La Rosa line, but I think it's a bit too far out - HWNSNBM needs a central station, like King's Cross, Victoria or Liverpool Street. Maybe Victoria could be renamed Lella Lombardi. And if we're talking about renaming the lines as well, what about changing the Central Line into the Midland Line?

Also, don't forget to have Stephen South mentioned in one of the "South..." stations.

I like it! Home to Holmes and Dangermouse!

This has inspiration here. Maybe we could have different lines with different themes - reject teams, rejects drivers by decade, DNPQers, pointless, champions etc.?

Maybe people pay to travel using their (Craig) Pollock card (Oyster card)?

I meant to mention Swiss Cottage... but should it really be Sauber that fits in there? Switzerland has given us such a startling list of rejectitude that I reckon we should honour those instead. There's Walter Brun, Peter Monteverdi, Gregor Foitek, Andrea Chiesa and Jean-Denis Délétraz, and that's just for starters...

Redble Arch (Marble Arch)
Broken Jaguar (Green Park)
....at Zandvoort (Holland Park)

I nearly wanted to do something with 'Kilburn', but that would have been in VERY bad taste.

Oh, sod it. I'll get my coat, shall I?

They are all in the cottage, but it's Sauber that has the biggest room in there
I also thought about about throwing some Swiss rejects in, but the Foitek Chiesa Deletraz Kessel Cottage didn't sound good to me :P

Oh, I just thought of some more stations.

Is this one of the Pub Landlord's pearls of wisdom, by any chance?

I refused to do anything with St. John's Wood, because the chances are it would end up being a tad risquée...however I did do one with Mudchute.

Oddly, no, Al Murray had nothing to do with it. Sadly, I just happened to hear it on Steve Wright in the Afternoon on Radio 2 once and it just stuck.... :?

I was looking at the Tube Map the other day, thought of this thread, and connected All Saints station with the high street shop of the same name, and that in turn led to Andrea Moda.

That said, it could also have led to Benetton, and quite a few of its miscreants are listed there...
