The Finger

Post by Thunderer »

From wiki...

"Vettel finished as runner-up in the 2006 F3 Euroseries, behind series leader and team mate Paul di Resta. He also made his debut in the World Series by Renault at Misano, winning after Pastor Maldonado was disqualified.[5] However, at the next round at Spa-Francorchamps, his finger was almost sliced off by flying débris in an accident, and he was expected to be out of racing for several weeks."

Could THIS be the reason behind that infamous celebration?
I don't know what Deletraz is doing either...

I wish that debris had gone straight through...

Give me an empty room, a breadknife and Vettel, and there's only one thing I'd do...

Umad bro?

But in all seriousness: How can a simple gesture like that elicit such strong emotions?
I mean, it's not like it's the first recurring victory-celebration in F1.

Yes. He is the one who change gears upwards. It is determinant for Vettel success!

Didn't Vettel's mother ever teach him that it is considered rude to point?

Nothing bad about the gesture itself, it's just that that thing looks so rigid...You invariably try to figure out where it's been :?

A history professor told me today about a scientific study that was carried out to find a cure for hiccups. The end of the million dollar study had only one genuine result: digital rectal massage. Whenever I see Vettel's extended finger from now on, I know I will think of this hiccup cure...

I guess? The details are anecdotal, probably even apocryphal, but that's a real cure - you can find it in medical journals.

I do not contest the results or the cure. Only the wisdom in spending that sum of money in such a study but I guess it could be worse...
