redbulljack14's rFactor career (2002-whenever)

Post by FullMetalJack »

My copy of GP4 doesn't seem to want to work anymore, so i've decided to start an rFactor career. I'm using the Jack Christopherson alias again. I have also signed for Jaguar after Eddie Irvine has retired a year earlier than expected to do with his poor attitude towards the team, most of the team are tired of him so he retires under mutual consent. Here's the driver line-up. Prost are unable to make the grid and decide to pull out of Formula 1.

Ferrari
1. Michael Schumacher
2. Rubens Barrichello

McLaren Mercedes
3. David Coulthard
4. Kimi Raikkonen

Williams BMW
5. Ralf Schumacher
6. Juan Pablo Montoya

Phoenix Finance's attempt to get into F1

In my defence, I have to say that we only look farcical to convey a more informal look in today's uptight F1.

ROUND 1 - 2002 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX - MELBOURNE

QUALIFYING
The start of a career, the start of an opportunity to make my mark in F1. Jack Christopherson looked optimistic going into his debut season. "I think we can fight for 4th in the Constructors Championship, with a bit of luck, we should be competing mainly against Renault, BAR, Jordan and Sauber. My aim is to score a few points this season and compare well against my teammate."

Qualifying wasn't great for Jaguar in general as neither driver could break into the top 10. Unsurprisingly, Michael Schumacher took pole position but Barrichello was only 8th, behind the likes of Fisichella and Heidfeld. Toyota's debut was not too bad and Arrows and Minardi were at the back.

1. M. Schumacher
2. Raikkonen
3. Montoya
4. Fisichella
5. Heidfeld
6. Trulli
7. Coulthard
8. Barrichello
9. Button
10. Salo
11. Massa
12. Panis
13. R. Schumacher
14. Villeneuve
15. De La Rosa
16. Sato
17. Christopherson
18. Frentzen
19. Webber
20. McNish
21. Bernoldi
22. Yoong

The race is in progress right now so results should be posted shortly.

RACE

I made an average start and failed to make up any places, that was until Ralf Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve tangled and held up a few drivers. Fisichella made a good start whilst Raikkonen did just the opposite. After 1 Lap, the order was Montoya, M.Schumacher, Fisichella, Heidfeld, Raikkonen and Trulli. Panis was the first retirement with an engine failure, Bernoldi suffered the same problem a couple of laps later. Frentzen spun his car and I couldn't avoid him, that was another 2 retirements. Montoya pulled away from Schumacher who could not shake off the feisty Fisichella. Ralf Schumacher spent the first 30 laps battling with Villeneuve before he eventually shook him off. Coulthard was the fifth retirement after spinning into the wall and damaging his suspension. Massa failed to finish on his debut as well. The biggest heartbreak however was at the Jordan garage as Fisichella, who was battling for 2nd with the Ferrari drivers, suffered an engine failure with 3 laps to go, this promoted Trulli up to the points, this would mean Renault would score a point on their full return to Formula 1. Toyota got both cars to the finish with Salo finishing 8th and McNish also reaching the end in 11th.

RESULTS
1. Montoya
2. M.Schumacher
3. Barrichello
4. Heidfeld
5. Raikkonen
6. Trulli
7. Button
8. Salo
9. De La Rosa
10. Sato
11. McNish
12. Webber
13. R.Schumacher
14. Yoong
15. Villeneuve

REJECT OF THE RACE: Ralf Schumacher - Poor Saturday, Poor Sunday.

Round 2 - 2002 Malaysian Grand Prix

QUALIFYING
1. M.Schumacher
2. Raikkonen
3. Button
4. Barrichello
5. Trulli
6. Panis
7. R.Schumacher
8. Coulthard
9. Villeneuve
10. Fisichella
11. Montoya
12. Christopherson

15. Salo
16. Bernoldi
17. Yoong
18. Frentzen
19. Webber
20. McNish
21. Sato
22. Massa

RACE
My start wasn't too bad to be honest, I didn't make any places, but I didn't lose any either. The safety car came out after lap 3 after an incident between Bernoldi and McNish and it was out for 8 laps. After 20 Laps, my engine blew and I couldn't reach the end of the race. De La Rosa was still going and benefited from the high attrition that was about to start. Michael Schumacher even failed to finish the race. Villeneuve was involved in a crash with Sato and Montoya, Villeneuve lost his front wing but could still continue. The safety cars didn't ruin the race for many drivers as by the time the second safety car came out on, only 9 drivers were left. Pedro De La Rosa was the main beneficial to the attrition as he climbed up the field. Coulthard and Panis then failed to finish to reduce the numbers to 7. My teammate then crossed the line to win the Malaysian Grand Prix.

REJECT OF THE RACE: Suspension - Caused 8 retirements.

1. De La Rosa
2. Barrichello
3. Bernoldi
4. Fisichella
5. Frentzen
6. Button
7. Villeneuve

Yeah it was, these races are going to be few and far between them, I won't have much time to play rFactor.
