It's not F1, but I was going to link everyone to Kevin Conway's Extenze ads. Then I remembered; family forum.

There's a new Head and Shoulders ad in this month's F1 Racing where above Jenson it says "WINNING."

I assume it was commissioned before Charlie Sheen's little outbursts started

True (but we welcome a bit of variety), and we don't want to get into listing all the shamless plugs, promotions, and endorsements drivers in the USA are 'forced' into doing, or this thread could end up bigger than the entire internet!

Takes me back to my childhood... great times. I still miss Murray, I'm honestly not sure I'd have got into F1 without him, especially as his co-commentator at the time was the World's Most Boring Man.

The ad is for... well, I don't know the name for this in English off the top of my head, we call this (the product) "massa corrida", and it's used in construction for finishing interior brick walls, it's applied and sanded before paint is applied.

The pun only makes sense in Portuguese though, I think... "corrida" is Portuguese for "race". Translating literally, the ad says: "Massa"? "Racing"? That I know!

Are you thinking of primer, because that is usually applied to porous materials before they are painted.

I just tried Google Translator for that, and it gave me "spackling compound", or "plaster" as translations for "massa corrida". After a further search, I think "spackling compound" is the best translation for what I'm thinking - it's used as a filler, and sanded after drying up, making the wall surface smooth before it gets painted. The one depicted in the ad is vinyl-based.

That one is interesting because in Spanish the word "hostia" means "host" in the context of sacramental bread. But "hostia" is also used, at least in Spain, to refer to a crash: "me di una hostia" would mean "I had a crash" or "I crashed [against] something". And there is an augmentative form of the word, "hostión", which would be a particularly big "hostia".

From "hostión" to "tostión" there's just a letter, and Montoya has probably suffered quite a few "hostias" and "hostiones" during his racing career

Now now, we Colombians don't use 'hostia' and its derivatives at all. JPM's affinity with walls is an undeniable trait though.
Back to topic, I spent a considerable time looking for this, I FINALLY found it. A contender to Mark Webber!

The most cringeworthy part of that ad is being reminded how the Germans have misappropriated pasta. The worst kind of tinned spag bol from Netto in the UK is better than the rubbish they serve up as pasta over there.

Quite possibly my favourite advert of all time for pure cheese and the little hakinnen joke at the end!

Also i think this was made before the big fall out between the two drivers!

It doesn't matter whether Schumi was promoting Sky or Sky was promoting Schumi this ad is simply hilarious.

Do drivers still do this sort of promotion? In Australia at least, whenever there's product advertising involving F1, it's only on the cars, and not the drivers (I'm thinking ING's ads with Renault, for example). Odd that Mark Webber doesn't seem to do much publicity for Red Bull...
