Re: The Online Game Thread (GT6 Touring Cars next weekend)

Post by RealRacingRoots »

With the GT5 Servers going down in May the 30th, might as well go out with a bang. Our next online race meet will be in Gran Turismo, starting probably around 9PM GMT on May 24th. Probably doing a bunch of random races with different stuff, the usual.

This will be the last time we play GT5 before moving full time to GT6, make it count. That means you Klon.

I'm thinking of setting up a GT6 session for a few hours before the Canadian GP tomorrow, it'll be set up so we vote on what track to race on and the winner gets to choose the PP range.
This is a cool spot.

Next time I'll join in if possible :)
I played GT 1-2 a lot back in the day, only a little GT3 and never tried GT4 for some reason and only spent a few hours with GT5: Prologue (never did acquire the full GT5 game),
but I'm now back in the GT world and have played 6 for a few days. I'm pretty rejectful so far.

That game frustrated me greatly. Not only was the physics & handling terrible,
Capcom also promised so many things post-release which they never delivered. They created so much bad will on their forum it was
ridiculous. They let a lot of people down and I will never dip my toe into any racing game by Capcom ever again.
They will always be legends for bringing RE to the world, but racing? No.

For MotoGP I always return to MotoGP 4 (PS2) by Namco. Best ever, it beats Capcom's crap game to a bloody pulp.
Namco also made Rage Racer for PS1 which I played a lot, fond memories of that game :geek:

Does listening to a dog licking its balls get you excited?

Like honestly, how can you not know about Jarno Trulli?

It was fun gokarting, by the way.

Why no Ladas in GT6?
My grandmother had a red Lada Riva back in the day (similar to the one below). I got to drive it a few times and let me tell you they are epic.
The gear lever/shifter is about 50cm long xD, and it handles very strange.

They don't have a PP rating low enough.

And yet they have the Volvo 240.
I would estimate Lada Riva has been sold in the millions in Italy/Russia through the decades, figures that should dwarf that of the 240.

I'm not knocking the 240, far from it. It was the first car I ever drove in real life (while practicing for my license) so it has a special place in my heart.
Well it was either the 240 or the 245, I can't remember anymore.

The 240 Estate has a racing history in BTCC :D

You can actually do them up to be pretty quick down the 1/4 mile in GT from memory.
