2013 IndyCar season - Cancelled

Post by HawkAussie »

After Ryan Hunter-Reay won the 2012 season by only 3 points from Will Power. A change in the top was seen with HawkAussie taking the top role which was a shock for many. The silly season was sure to change the grid up with new rules and races.

Welcome to my first series as we travel to North America for the 2013 IndyCar season. The rule changes for this season of IndyCar.

- Each team must have only one test driver which must be in the lower 3 divisions (Indy Lights, Pro Mazda Championship, U.S. F2000 National Championship)
- The triple crown will return for the first time since 1989 with Poconno, Indianapolis and Fontana.
- The Indianapolis quali point system will drop to only have the top 9 scoring points.
- Teams are now only to have 2 drivers that is eligible for the team championship.
- The Road and Oval champions will be dropped.'

NOTE: I will be using AustralianStig excel sheet to simulate the races. This will be extremly detailed and can

If you are interested in running a team, please indicate below. Note that who gets what team will be decided by a RNG, so if you are dying to run Team Penske you might end up with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing. If you get one of the three TBA teams then you can create the personallity of the team.

Upgrades
Three times in the year (before Indianapolis, Iowa and Mid-Ohio) each team will have the opportunity to install upgrades on their vehicles. Only one parameter may be upgraded each time, aside from pit stops which you can do every time. I'm going to keep this pretty simple here, so the following upgrades are possible:

- Reliability
- Race Pace (Road)
- Race Pace (Oval)
- Qualifying Pace
- Tyre Life
- Pit stops (free)

When you have decided on which upgrade you would prefer, you can then choose how radical or conservative you would like it to be:

- Conservative - high chance of success, small gains
- Standard - average chance of success, average gains
- Radical - low chance of success, high gains

Success or failure will be decided by RNG. Note that a bad failure may have the opposite effect to what you were hoping for, so choose carefully. Teams will also be advised of the degree of success or failure.

For example, Dragon Racing may wish to attempt to improve their tyre life. They need to take the risks to catch up to the rest of the teams, so are opting for a standard approach to tyre life. As all teams can attempt to improve pit stops for free, they would also like to do this, and are going to take a radical approach to try and get ahead of the other teams on pit road.

Based off the silly season, anyway time for the RNG's and I might get hate for this

Wallio - TBA (New Team)
Klon - Dreyer & Reinbold
go_Rubens - KV Racing
FantometteBR - Ed Carpenter
RonDenisDeletraz - Schmidt-Hamilton
V8fan12 - Ganassi
Normal32 - Foyt
Salamander - Rahal Letterman Lanigan
Miguel98 - Panther
roblomas52 - Andretti
Reject_Dom - Dragon
mrfakeboullier - Lotus–HVM
Phoenix - Penske
W12 - Dale Coyne
TBA - Sarah Fisher Hartman
TBA - Team Barracuda – BHA
TBA - TBA (New Team)
TBA - TBA (New Team)

I will take Team Barracuda – BHA for the moment until we have enough members to compete.

You can look at the team that you have and for go_Rubens, Phoenix, V8fan12, roblomas52 they will have to choose 2 drivers to follow up with this rule:

- Teams are now only to have 2 drivers that is eligible for the team championship.

The next thing we now need to start to work out is the driver contracts and car numbers. You may extend your operations to a two car operartion but depending on the possibility, you might not get it. By default, the actual drivers that competed in most rounds of the 2012 season would have expired contracts, but you can give them a contract extension or just completely fired them. If going for the contract extension, place your intentions below such as "Scott Dixon - 2 year contract extension".The RNG will decide whether you are successful or not.

If you are attempting to sign a driver that isn't in your team you should make this known below also. You can make bids for as many drivers as you like, but order them in preference. Each team should sign at least one test driver from the lower 3 series as injuries could be possible.

Here is the list of drivers that isn't available link because this series is based on the NewF1 series so those drivers will be unavailable.

This decision is going to be controversial, but I've decided the guy who gets the boot at Penske is Ryan Briscoe, and not James Allen. I'd like to sign Simon Pagenaud to replace Briscoe on a 2-year contract. I've also extended 2-year contracts to both Power and Castroneves.

As for the test driver role, I'll have Sage Karam on a 1-year contract.

Dragon will sign Bourdais to a two year contract. Legge is signed for one year. Carlos Muñoz is signed as a test driver for a year, with a possibility to be the second driver after Legge's contract runs out.

Had to edit as I think I made it all wrong.

What's to stop any team from running more than 2 drivers? Sure number 3 won't score points, but so what?

Riccetti Competition is very interested in running 3 Drivers.

Okay, sure, but why can't I pick my engine?

Regardless, Carlin will offer 1-year contracts to the following drivers (except Briscoe, who will be offered a 2-year deal), until we fill two race seats:

1) Ryan Briscoe
2) Charlie Kimball
3) Mikhail Aleshin
4) Oriol Servia
5) Luca Filippi

Should Aleshin or Filippi remain unsigned, we will offer them a 1-year testing contract. If they are not, we will extend the same offer to Matthew Brabham.
