Interview with Jonathan Summerton
I'm doing an interview with Jonathan Summerton very soon, so if there's anything you want to ask him, post it here and I'll ask him the best questions you guys submit
And please nothing stupid like 'Will you be driving for USF1 in 2010' because the answer is no

Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
Stuck for ideas are we?
Just ask how did he get involved in motorsport, what was his favourite series, having raced in it what does he think of the mess that A1GP is in, does he see himself having a future in American or European based motorsport, that kind of thing.

Better than 'Tour in a suit case' Takagi.

Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
Not stuck for ideas, just sticking to routine
I am a journo (in-the-making) after all, but usually TCF is pretty open with the readers.
Its like with Summerton compared to Ferrari (e.g. Autsport). While they are very strict and hard to get access at, Jonathan is pretty open, like we are, because of course, any press is good press (That was actually him that said that not me )

Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
A few suggestions:
"Why do you think Americans have struggled recently to perform in F1?"
"Who do you most look up to in your career?"
"Do you prefer driving on European circuits or American circuits?"
"Do you think that there is a lot of pressure on talented young drivers to win races at the highest level straight away?" - What I like to call 'Hamilton syndrome'
Good luck with the interview, should be epic.

Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
How hard is it for him to gain notoriety in the United States (and thus sponsorship money) when he isn't in a NASCAR series or an IRL series/ How has that affected his career?
Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
Does he see his future rather in single seaters or in cars equipped with roofs?
How did he enjoy his time in A1GP? How has he experienced the demise of that series (if at all)?
Please let him tell you about some of the drivers with whom he had the best on track fights in A1GP and in Atlantics!
How did his move from A1GP to Formula Atlantic came about? Has he even considered going to GP2?
What is his favourite road course and why?
I presume he comes from karting. Does he have oval experience as well? (please edit this one out if it is a silly question)
Does he prefer starting a race with the grid in the correct order or in reversed order, like happened in A1GP, and why?

I should have written "Ask him which pilot that he raced was it the most fun racing against". That might not have been Rossi.

OK, you guys have until 9pm GMT to submit your questions before I send them off!
Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
How did you get an interview with Jonathan Summerton? (don't ask Summerton this, it's for you )
Did he ever get a real desire to drive in F1?
If he made it, for what team would he has signed? (realistically)
What part of his career did he enjoy most?
Who was his all-time motorsport hero?
And his favourite track?

Because I asked him for one
Its kinda hard to get interviews with some drivers, they don't really make themselves avaliable for the media so much.
And also as part revenge on my colleague at TCF, he managed to nab interviews with Guy Smith and Marco Andretti so I thought it was about my turn
The questions are on their way, I'll post it here once its all finished

Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
Nice work, that was an interesting read. Its great to have interviews where the questions don't simply consist of favouite track/team and do you want to become F1 world champion (who wouldnt!).
Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
Nice to see my influence in that AIGP question! Unless you'd thought of it already, in which case, nice interview.

Re: Interview with Jonathan Summerton
Woohoo, saw one of my questions in there! Good work Kostas!
I have to say I didn't know too much about Summerton before reading this interview, but he seems confident in his ability to jump straight into an F1 car. it's obviously his aim, and it's unusual to see a driver trying to struggle free from the US racing ladder.

That was my thought also, and the 'crossroads' I was refering too. However I think he's already made his choice, he's attending the Portimao F2 test this week. IRL is the standard next step from where he is right now but I wouldn't be surpised if that was at the bottom of his list. Obviously if he's in GP2 or F2 he'll have a better shot at a USF1 seat in the future, I would think.
