Young Driver Test

Post by MaxZero »

quick query, i'm hoping someone can shed light :)

Why are McLaren allowed to test Gary Paffett? He's neither new to the sport or particularly young

The FIA consider anyone who's done 2 grand prix or less as a 'young' driver. Paffett has done zero, and previous testing milage doesn't count

Paddock insiders are considering the next wave 'young' talent to include Basil Shaaban, Nur Ali, and Chanock Nissany.
Nissanymania! Friday has never been the same since.

The car in front is a Stefan.

There is also a 24-month limit as to what counts as a race, so I'm a little surprised that Ferrari hasn't wheeled out Michael Schumacher as the regulations entitle it to do...

When are the new teams expected/allowed to test, who can they test & how are they regulated bearing in mind the restrictions placed on existing teams?

The pre-season test in February is the first we'll see of the new teams I think, and they can test anyone with a valid superlicense. I don't think they are getting ant preferential treatment compared to the existing teams, however.

Di Resta's not looking too shabby. Wouldn't be a bad idea for one of the new teams to bag him - isn't he a Mercedes driver? Also, what track is the testing at?

Testing is at Jerez, I believe he's Dario Franchitti's cousin.
Certainly attracting some attention at the moment. Also Adam Carroll says he is in talks with several teams.
Where' s "Little Ant" going to end up?
Thanks for the info Kostas.
