The Chinese F1 Idol winner returns! Ho Pin Tung to replace Grosjean in 2010? At least put in Bertrand Baguette so we can hear all the commentators make fun of his name.

A Chinese driver? Would put the final nail in the coffin of traditional F1 hotbeds.

They may as well put Ho-Pin in the car, there reputation is pretty much ruined worldwide, but at least they'd manage to get one sixth of the world on the side by putting him in the car.

He's sure Ho-Pin this turns into a full-time ride next year.

Stand up everyone who thinks that Renault have possible chinese sponsors for 2010? There are rumours that Sinopec may be Renaults new fuel supplier in 2010 so a chinese driver would benefit Renault.

Still not the first time that Ho-Pin Tung has driven a F1 car in a test, back in 2003 he drove a Williams BMW at a test in Jerez setting a time of 1:22.082 which wasn't bad, it was at a reject worthy pace as Marc Gene did set a lap time which was 5 seconds faster, Neel Jani in the Sauber Petronas was 1.8 seconds down the road in front. The Williams BMW was quite a fast car setting the pace in Jerez with mid 1:16s 2 months later...

We don't have to look at his ability to go fast, but at his ability to crash.

With the regard to the Chinese F1 Idol *dada dada dadaaaaaaaaaaa* winner testing the Renault, this article appears interesting:
http://willthef1journo.wordpress.com/20 ... situation/ (edit: see also Cpt. Hammer's post on the other thread ... I hadn't seen that or I had posted over there. Sorry.)

Meanwhile, Christian Horner of RBR has come out and said that their choice of engine depends on the decision of the FIA on engine parity, but that he would prefer to stick with the Renault engine http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80389

So are these some clues for Renault threatening to pull out unless they are allowed to upgrade their engine?

Look on the bright side, if he does get the drive its a dead cert for an official new entry on here!
