My rather rejectful attempt at an alternative driver career

Post by takagi_for_the_win »

Right, this thread shall chart the progress of Edward Restov's F1 career (not my real name). Restov is the only son of a wealthy Anglo-Russian businessman and there fore could buy himself a seat with the pretty dreadful Toleman team for 1985
I'm using F1 2009 on PSP for this, so theres only 20 drivers. I turned all driver aids off, races are 10% length and its on the hardest difficulty.
(BTW, I'm gonna use the current numbering system for this.)

I doubt it'll be as rejectful as my narrative-based career, where the thread has been up for almost two weeks, and I've done precisely sod all

How are you replacing the names of the drivers and teams in the game? Or are you pretending that, for instance, Tyrrell = Brawn, Toleman = Benetton = Renault = Lotus, etc.?

I'm just pretending. Generally, I tried making it so that the fastest drivers from '85 are the fastest drivers on the game. E.g. Button=Prost, Vettel=Alboreto, Webber=Rosberg etc. I'm Sutil just for the record

Whoops, nearly forgot about this :D Anyway, got nearly the whole first season done, so here come results.

BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX
QUALIFYING
1. A. Prost 1.12.491
2. M. Alboreto 1.12.796
3. K. Rosberg 1.13.254
4. E. de Angelis 1.13.458
...
17. G. Berger 1.14.793
18. E. RESTOV 1.14.937
19. T. Fabi 1.14.980
20. P. Tambay 1.15.668

Awful qualy session on the bumpy Interlagos track, spinning at nearly every corner. Meanwhile, Prost and Alboreto were in a class of their own.

RACE
1. M. Alboreto 8.52.842
2. K. Rosberg +2.642
3. A. Prost +4.297
4. A. Senna +6.074
5. N. Piquet +7.428
6. E. de Angelis +7.832
...
14. M. Surer +34.009
15. E. RESTOV +39.687
16. T. Fabi +40.554
...

F.L. M. Alboreto 1.15.183

I actually made a decent start, picking up a couple of places off the line. For the next few laps I ran comfortably in the midfield, working my way up to 8th at one stage. However, as the race went on, mistakes began creeping in and I spun the car several times, meaning that I lost 7 positions in 2 laps. At the front Alboreto put in a storming performance to take the win, with Rosberp passing Prost for second late on.
