Re: Ponderbox

True - Australia, too, had a steady supply of F1 drivers until Alan Jones, but suddenly after him, the Aussies really seemed to begin to struggle to make it to F1. One could argue neither of the younger Brabhams, nor Skaife, Ingall etc. got a fair shot in Europe and therefore got directed back to ho...

Within the last 40 years there has been only one Formula 1 driver from New Zealand; and even that one - Mike Thackwell - did his last F1 race over 30 years ago. Yet, the Kiwis currently have a "top 10" list of racing drivers pretty much every other country would be envious of, just in cate...

Doubtful since Jenson called Indycar "too dangerous" just a year or so ago - and I wouldn't blame him, given that he's lost two friends in Indycar accidents.

1. McLaren Honda - normally I don't do this because it's so common for them, but today they damn well deserve the nomination.
2. Carlos Sainz jr - that was just dumb, but his comments about the accident were even dumber.

1. Giovinazzi - rookie or not, wet or dry - but crashing at the same spot in quali AND the race warrants a ROTR nomination by default
2. Bottas - spinning under the safety car is almost equally reject-worthy

Whilst I think Alonso is pretty special in difficult cars in general, especially this year's McLaren - I don't think anyone could beat him in that car in the form he is in, really - on the other hand, I don't think he would be that dominant in a dominant car. For example someone like Vettel tends to...

Technically, Troy is an F1 World Championship race winner , as you have stated. Unless you dismiss the 1950-1960 Indy 500s as so many people do... But those races are in the F1 history books... Technically, he isn't. The F1 World Championship didn't exist until 1981. Anyway, all going well, Rubens ...

Imagine he might have beaten Farina and Fangio for the first World Championship - depending on luck really, the Alfa was so dominant -, but after that Ascari and Fangio started to become irresistible forces, and Achille himself would have been near his fifties.

Pitstops of some sort were there since the start of racing due to the cars' fragility and the need to fix them once ina while. Even the "modern" style pre planned refueling/tyre change strategies were common in the 1930's already.

The eRace could've been done better. No showing of the practices or qualifying, an unsatisfyingly low amount of racing for a one-off event, and the direction missed a lot of action. Finally can we count the Theodore TR-1 which Rosberg won the 1978 International Trophy at Silverstone.
