Haas: they are finally coming up good. Well done!

It can only be Max Verstappen's rear brake for giving us a result F1 really needed.

Yuki Tsunoda: First points of the season, was in and around the top 10 on merit all weekend and once again making everyone wonder why Lawson isn’t in that car instead of Ricciardo.

Haas: First double points finish since Austria 2022, we all thought these guys would be the clear worst team this year but no.

HM: Carlos Sainz: What a comeback from the hospital bed, driving like a man determined to prove he still belongs in a top seat, if Red Bull has any sense he should be partnering Max next year

This, although this also got a ROTR nomination from me.

Sainz, for obvious reasons.

Then Haas and Tsunoda for capitalising on the DNFs of Verstappen, Russell and Hamilton.

Tsunoda - Really mature drive with some pressure around him after Marko's comments that both RB drivers were underperforming. Straight away great lap to get into Q2 and then solid race.

Haas - First double points since 2022. Wooo

This my number 1 for bringing universal joy to f1.

2. Haas. Double points!!!

Hm Yuki Tsunoda. Thrashing Danny Ric (at Dale's home race as well)

(1) Sainz - the redundant second driver at Ferrari demonstrating how to get a new job. Looks a much better prospect than Hamilton at the moment.

(2) Pitwall and driver teamwork by Ferrari, Mclaren and Haas - they all seem to have worked out that the way to win is not screw each other up.

Tsunoda: Just give this man the Red Bull seat and bin off Danny Ric already.

I'm voting for Sainz, great recovery from surgery and again ending the Red Bull win streak, even if he was helped by Verstappen's car failure.

Honorable mentions to Tsunoda and Haas.

Sainz/Ferrari - seriously when is this guy going to get the recognition he deserves? Mercedes and even Red Bull should be running to sign him.

I'd also like to think Ferrari would have been in for the win even had Max not retired - given how little impression Checo made on Ferrari and even McLaren once he'd got clear air, yes Max would have been faster but more than 30 seconds? It would have been a push.

Big HMs to Tsunoda (kept Stroll honest too so was racing for points even on merit) and unreliability which I'm glad made a comeback!

1) Carlos Sainz - Losing his Ferrari seat for 2025 and missing Saudi Arabia seem to have been great filips to him. At least he just gets in with the job instead of complaining like Leclerc always seems to do. Take note, every other non-Red Bull driver out there and someday you'll get a chance to beat Max!

2) Haas - After all they have been through recently, a double points finish is just what they needed! No offence to Gunther Steiner but maybe they don't need him anymore after all.

HM: Yuki Tsunoda - Got VCARB off the mark and comprehensively outshone his teammate in the latter's home GP. Give Lawson a proper chance!

Ferrari 1-2 finish and Yuki who once again finished ahead of Ricciardo.

Marko doesn't seem to be keen on signing Sainz for Red Bull, perhaps because of political aspects, and perhaps because, having been dismissive of Sainz's performance in the past, it would be personally embarrassing for Marko to then have to backtrack on that. To that end, Marko has suggested that, if Perez can be a useful number two driver - finish second in the WDC, win a race or two and otherwise not present a threat to Max - there's a chance that Perez will get a contract extension instead.

Whilst I could see Mercedes making an approach towards Sainz, some have wondered if Sainz might fancy the possibility of going to Sauber to become the lead driver for Audi, once Audi complete their takeover of that team.
