1. Esteban Ocon. A rare podium for a midfield team, it's like 2021 all over!

2. Monte-Carlo. Imagine actually wanting this track off the F1 calendar. Philistines, the lot of ye.

Ocon

End of discussion.

1) Esteban Ocon: Overperformed my expectations and managed to retain his P3 to take a deserved podium.

2) The rain: Providing the excitement that the race would have otherwise lacked due to the cars being too wide.

1) Ocon, very mature drive. Made the best of a good qualifying.

2) The Rain. I was half asleep 10 laps in until the rain started, and fully awake from there.

Ocon -- A morale boost for Alpine given how much they were thrown under the bus by corporate in Miami.

Nyck de Vries -- Decided to not be Nyck de Bris.

Race direction: I know, I know, they are not driving, but if you told me such a race wouldn't have any red flags, any SCs, not even any VSCs - I wouldn't have believed you. It was like watching a race from the 90s again. It shows it can be done, and it's fine, as it was for years (after Senna's death and the big focus on safety, mind you), as long as there are no unprotected cranes around the track.

Esteban Ocon: The biggest surprise podium of the year. Even after starting 3rd, I really doubted he'd stay there.

Ocon really.

S/O for Hamilton for having a clean race and just manages to get points.

I'll be a hipster and nominate someone other than Ocon, that being Norris and Asuka Pastry Piastri.

The Stewards/Monaco Race Organisers: When things go wrong for them it's easy to blame them. In chaotic conditions with cars all over the place they managed to trust the stewarding and keep the race flowing. How crappy the race would have been under SC or VSC for the 10 laps it rained. A superb turnaround.

Esteban Ocon: Maximized the result from an excellent qualifying and managed impeccably his own race in challenging conditions.

Ocon and indeed the Alpine team - nice to have a fifth team in there in the hunt for podiums at least - hopefully they can make the big 4 a big 5 (or the chasing 3 a chasing 4 instead). Also McLaren showed some good pace at the end too.

I will say at Monaco more often than not that cream usually rises to the top, we only have 3 former world champions in the field now after Vettel retiring, and they were 3 of the top 4 finishers - and Ocon was the only one to break into that, even if on paper you would have Checo first of all to be top non-champion, then Russell and the Ferrari drivers. Ocon beat them all!

HM to rain that actually came for once. So many boring races have had rain in the forecast which never came despite all the teams talking about it on the radar! :)

- the weather for spicing up the race

- the TV footage. I enjoyed all the new camera angles and helicopter shots. I never appreciated the downhill ramp from the tunnel to the Nouvelle Chicane as much as I did today, or the gradients from the hairpin to the the tunnel. And I loved how much of the track you could see from the aerial views. More of this please, especially on street tracks.

- yeah, Ocon and Alonso too I suppose.

You know what, I never thought I'd say this but I'm going to give an HM to Max as well. Worryingly for the others (and for all the fans who want a close fight like me) he's also added maturity to all his other strengths - I reckon even up to 2021 he'd have lost that race in those conditions, I could see him stuffing it in the wall especially around 2017 or 2018. People can say it's the car but look what Checo did.......

No contest whatsoever, don’t even bother with the poll.

Esteban Ocon - Biggest surprise podium of this year so far.
HM to the Monaco GP for the rain, not being screwed over by bad race or TV direction, and being an exciting weekend overall.

I'd suggest the comedic timing of Sainz's "we need to push Ocon to a mistake" team radio vs. himself making a mistake and literally pushing Ocon's car at Nouvelle Chicane.
