2020 Yaname Electronics Super Formula - ROUND 5 UP!
Posted: 31 Mar 2020, 16:42
by Dom_Wings
It's time for the new season of Japanese motorsport! After the 2019 season which turned out to be a two-man show between Naoki Yamamoto and Kazuki Nakajima, it was the former who took home the championship. With Nakajima now returning to Formula One, who will be Yamamoto's next challenger?
TEAM CHANGESLe Beausset announced at the end of the 2019 season that it would withdraw from Super Formula for a second time. Only a few weeks before the start of the 2020 season, Real Racing also announced their withdrawal from the series.
On the other hand, Ryo Michigami's Drago Corse team will return the series after 3 years.
RULE CHANGESThe most important rule change is the new points system effective for the 2020 season. Points will be now given out to the top three in qualifying as well as the top 10 finishers in the race itself.
There will be no double-headers and the final round will now use the same points system as the other races on the calendar. Another important change will be the race distance as all races will be shortened by 100km.
CALENDAR CHANGESThe Korean round will be replaced by a race at the Chang Circuit in Thailand, while Tokachi returns to the calendar for the first time since 1996. The number of rounds will now be set at nine.
TEAMSI will be vacating my spot at Mugen and instead move to TOM'S due to my participation in Alternate Formula One as principal of Toyota Motorsport.
Existing managers will have to confirm their participation until a set deadline - if they do not respond by the deadline, they will be replaced by a new manager.
If you want to change teams, you are free to do so, but only after the deadline.

I was honestly toying with that idea. I will think about it, but in case I do approve of it, the team will return with one car for the upcoming season.

Team principal Aguri Suzuki has announced yesterday that Autobacs Racing Team Aguri will return to the premier Japanese open-wheel competition for the first time since 2008. With ARTA once again enjoying success in the Super GT, Suzuki and the Autobacs company have agreed on a return to the now-called Super Formula series. The team has decided that it will run a one-car operation in 2020, with the possibility of expanding to two cars in the future.
As a heads-up, ARTA will only use
Honda engines.

Confirmation stage is over.
Since Salamander did not confirm, Super Hanamura Intensity Team will withdraw from the series.
I will grant GB, Gonzalez and Bandon their requests, which means the following teams are still available:
Team LeMans
Team KCMG
Team Impul
Cerumo Inging

If you cannot find 4 players, I will take whichever teams remain.
If we cannot fill all 4 slots might I suggest we RNG car and driver options for the vacant teams? So we won't be stuck waiting

CAR PERFORMANCE
This series will be run on the game "Lights to Flag". However, this game is fairly basic as driver and car attributes only range in integers between 1 and 10. Therefore, I will implement a system known as Car Points.
Car Points (CP) will be handed out according to the previous season's teams' championship standings, with new teams being handed out 6 CP by default.
There are a total of nine stats, but we will only use eight as "Resources" is basically redundant. The base stats for this season are:
Aerodynamics - 8 - LOCKED
Mechanical Grip - 6
Engine - 8 - LOCKED
Ease on Tyres - 6
Reliability - 6
Wet Weather - 6
Ease of Setup - 5 for two-car teams, 7 for one-car teams (new teams will start with 1 car)
Qualifying - 6
You are allowed to decrease car attributes, for example if you decrease Reliability from 6 to 4, you get 2 more CP to assign elsewhere.
Every player is required to assign all of their CP (however if you end up with 0.5 CP, you will start next season with an extra 0.5 CP).
The cost of each attribute will vary depending on its importance:
Mechanical Grip - 2 CP
Qualifying & Wet Weather - 1.5 CP
Ease on Tyres, Reliability, Ease of Setup - 1 CP
The CP will change at the end of every season, according to the teams' championship as follows:
1st: 12 CP
2nd: 11 CP
3rd-4th: 10 CP
5th: 9 CP
6th-7th: 8 CP
8th-9th: 7 CP
10th-11th: 6 CP
12th and below: 5 CP
-------
Grand Chelem: 1 CP
You can also gain CP by selecting certain sponsors and signing certain drivers.
It's purely your choice whether your team will run 1 or 2 cars, but be aware of the eventual consequences in either scenario.
NOTE: You can only assign Car Points after the driver signing stage is complete, with the full list given out.

DRIVER SIGNING & SPONSORSNow it's time for driver signing & sponsor phase.
Sponsors will give you Car Points if you complete a certain driver or championship objective. Pay-drivers are exempt from this as they will bring their own finances.
Please choose one sponsor tier. Tier 1 will give you 2 CP, Tier 2 will give you 1 CP, Tier 3 will give you nothing.
SPONSOR OBJECTIVES:Team MugenTier 1: Sign a Red Bull junior
Tier 2: Sign Naoki Yamamoto or Tomoki Nojiri

Tier 3: N/A
Drago CorseTier 1: Sign a former ThreeBond F3 driver
Tier 2: Sign an Asian driver
Tier 3: N/A
As you can see, some drivers without an F1 seat are interested in joining Super Formula! However, they don't want to trundle in the midfield. They are also subject to an RNG even if you run a top team.
You are also allowed to bid for drivers outside of the list below. You are also allowed to sign fictional drivers, however their DEC holder must be listed.
NOTE: Kazuki Nakajima and Kenta Yamashita are unavailable to be signed in 2020.
DRIVER LISTJunior Allegiances:
TDP = Toyota
HFDP = Honda
NDDP = Nissan (only usable for Impul and Kondo)
These are outside forces. If you bench a driver of them and replace them for one of your own? They will not like that one bit, and they can screw you over very easily pulling a few strings. Junior Allegiance drivers will only drive for either Toyota or Honda powered teams (TDP and HFDP respectively) and Impul or Kondo (NDDP). Junior Allegiance drivers will have a small boost.
NOTE: Teams must run at least one RL driver.TEMPLATE:
Code: Select all
Team Name:
Sponsor Tier:
Driver 1:
Nationality:
DEC User: (if fictional, if not then delete this)
Driver 2:
Nationality:
DEC User: (if fictional, if not then delete this)
You can bid for up to 4 drivers for each seat.
Also, please specify whether you:
1) want to run 1 or 2 cars,
2) want to run
Toyota or
Honda engines.
Here is the 2019 team & engine list.
