The difference between the tiers is that each tier will pay out more money, so Tier 1 (Title Sponsor) will pay out the most but with the hardest goal, Tier 2 (Major Sponsor) is a middle balance between money and goal difficulty, and Tier 3 (Sponsor) has the easiest goal but you get the lowest amount of money.

Yeah sure, I can create a waiting list for you and then ask one of the caretakers if they'd be OK for you to take over their team.

I'm being rather ambitious here considering AAR only scored 5pts in RL but we do have much better drivers (both of which scored nearly 50pts on their own in RL 1998), and a much better engine so it's entirely possible this may work

Just want to let everyone know that the sponsor goal deadline is closed. So the remaining 3 teams (Bettenhausen, Penske and Arciero-Wells) who didn't submit their goals in time have been manually assigned sponsors (see the orange on the spreadsheets.

The results from the Homestead race will come in this post later.

The upgrade time is now open. If you are willing to represent a chassis manufacturer the upgrade table is like this:

Code: Select all

Chassis:
H (handling) upgrade: Y/N
D (drag) upgrade: Y/N
G (grip) upgrade: Y/N
R (reliability) upgrade: Y/N
RGR upgrade: Y/N

And for engine manufacturers it is like this:

Code: Select all

Engine:
QP (qualifying power) upgrade: Y/N
RP: (race power) upgrade: Y/N
REL upgrade: Y/N

And for tire manufacturers it is like this:

Code: Select all

Tire:
QGrip upgrade: Y/N
RGrip upgrade: Y/N
RGR upgrade: Y/N
D (durability) upgrade: Y/N

And also, Tony Stewart's crash means that Della Penna Motorsports will need to pay $180,000 to repair his chassis, and Marlboro Team Penske will also have to spend $180,000 to repair Paul Tracy's chassis.

Yeah, even though the car is terrible, he just embarrased himself. And I can confirm that JJ Lehto will race for Team KOOL Green for the rest of the season.

3rd post in a row, but here are the official driver ratings from Homestead/Miami:

1) Jimmy Vasser - 5/10 - Outqualified by Zanardi and only won because Moore, Zanardi and Rahal had car failures
2) Robby Gordon - 8/10 - Flawless performance from him to give Tasman a much-needed podium
3) Michel Jourdain Jr - 7/10 - Showed what Payton/Coyne are capable of…
4) Al Unser Jr - 8/10 - Easily had the measure of Tracy, drove cleanly to score some good points for Captain Penske’s team
5) Ádrián Fernández - 7/10 - gave Patrick something to take away from the weekend
6) Tony Kanaan - 11/10 - What a drive, was outpacing Penskes and Rahals and managed to score 8 valuable points in the slowest car on the grid
7) Patrick Carpentier - 6/10 - The KOOL Green is a shitbox, was lucky to score points
8) Gualter Salles - 6/10 - Was lucky to have even finished the race, Davis will need the points
9†) Ricardo Zonta - 9/10 - Good debut for Bettenhausen, could’ve scored more if he didn’t retire
10†) Juan Pablo Montoya - 4/10 - Great performance in qualifying to take pole, fell back in the race and his late retirement topped off his race
11) Eliseo Salazar - 6/10 - Was running fairly high in the poor PacWest until a transmission failure paid an end to his hopes of scoring good points
12) Hiro Matsushita - 3/10 - Anonymous all race
Ret) Bobby Rahal - 9/10 - Lead the 2nd half of the race until his untimely transmission failure…
Ret) Alex Zanardi - 8/10 - Would’ve likely beat Jimmy Vasser had his car survived
Ret) Kenny Bräck - 2/10 - Has the best chassis and engine and yet falls behind a goddamn Eagle
Ret) Paul Tracy - -10000000/10 - What a shitfest. Qualifies 14 places behind his teammate, struggled against an Eagle and finally attempted to murder Gualter Salles, which ended in him hitting the outside wall and flying across the track with an expensive repair bill for the Captain
Ret) Greg Moore - 9/10 - Dominated the race until his retirement
Ret) P.J. Jones - 3/10 - Was lucky to have a body in one piece after Turn 1, but was hopeless compared to his teammate
Ret) Scott Goodyear - 3/10 - Poor car + average driving = not good result
Ret) Helio Castroneves - 4/10 - Worst car on the grid but was still some way off fellow rookie Brazilian teammate Tony Kanaan
Ret) Gil De Ferran - 5/10 - Was relatively anonymous but still could’ve scored points
Ret) Bryan Herta - 2/10 - Spins out of a strong 2nd place
Ret) Dario Franchitti - 1/10 - Pitted on the 1st lap, Was at the back and doing bugger all until his retirement
Ret) Michael Andretti - 6/10 - Had the pace, but his car decided to have a barbeque
Ret) Max Papis - 5/10 - His car turned into a smoke grenade before he could show anything
Ret) Tony Stewart - 5/10 - Got collected at the start and had his wheel fly off and nearly decapitate P.J. Jones. Couldn’t show his true worth
DNQ) Davey Hamilton - 1/10 - Crap car + bad driver = DNQ
DNQ) Vincenzo Sospiri - -10000000000000000000/10 - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I suggest giving in some more time, like a day more or 2, since only 1 day for us to do the upgrades is rather too tight.

Penske will pay to repair Tracy's Chassis.

Chassis:
H (handling) upgrade: Y
D (drag) upgrade: N
G (grip) upgrade: Y
R (reliability) upgrade: Y
RGR upgrade: N

John Della Penna will repair the damage to Smoke's car

Also, fyi, CART used to award points to non-finishers as well, so Salazar and King Hero should get some points for 11th and 12th

Reynard - TheFlyingCaterham
Honda - Reject_Dom
Swift - thor97

Ford - Bandon23
Penske - Gonzalez
Eagle - This Could Be You

Mercedes - Samster
Firestone - TomDilain
Goodyear - CarloSpace

So could all team owners please send in their upgrades by 23:59 GMT on Friday 16th February, with Round 2 at Motegi following shortly after.

Eagle upgrades:
H (handling) upgrade: Y
D (drag) upgrade: Y
G (grip) upgrade: Y
R (reliability) upgrade: N
RGR upgrade: N

As we still have money, we might as well go for every performance upgrade (our reliability's decent, and we're currently so bad RGR doesn't matter yet)
