I've decided that there will be 1 more upgrade period, but there isn't a specified time; it's up to you, the company owner, to choose when to upgrade the parts, and team owners can buy them whenever they want. Here's the rules:

- Chassis manufacturers can introduce a 'B-spec' chassis for teams to purchase; the RNG range for each area will be increased to 1000 instead of the standard 500

- Engine manufacturers can introduce a new specification of engine, with either a road course spec, an oval spec, or both (but with both spec costs mashed together). The power ranges are up to 70 for ovals, and 30 for road courses, and the Rel ranges are up to 1000

- Tyre manufacturer upgrades are the same as before, with the expanded 1000 RNG ranges

- Users representing the manufacturers can choose exactly when to use their upgrade slot, but once you've used it, you can't use it again, so choose wisely!

- Penske and AAR will have the chassis upgrades automatically added on and costs automatically deducted from their budgets due to them producing their chassis in-house

Could you elaborate why? I feel a little insulted to be removed from my position at Goodyear without prior notice.

I wanted to give everyone a chance to upgrade; but you’re right, it was unfair of me to do that.

Payton/Coyne will sack Michel Jourdain Jr. after failing to qualify shockingly in last two races. Christian Fittipaldi will replace him for the rest of the season with Payton/Coyne.

ESPN wrote:CART for Rubens?
After Dario Franchitti's crash at the Jacarepaguá circuit back in May which sidelined him for the rest of 1998, most people were expecting him to come back to Newman-Haas for 1999. Well, Jackie Stewart has today pressed a story that Dario will not be coming back to CART in 1999, instead going to the Stewart F1 Team as one of their drivers. Stewart has also confirmed that existing driver Rubens Barrichello's services are not required for 1999, meaning that Rubens has decided to look over here in the USA for a drive. The Brazilian thinks that it would be better for him to achieve success at the front in CART rather than languish in the F1 midfield or at the back of the pack. He has also said that he is keen to try his hand at oval racing.

To summarise: Rubens Barrichello will be an available driver for CART teams to hire in 1999.

Yes, the carset is screwed; which is conversely why I'm burning through this season very quickly so I can nuke it and do it over in 1999.

So, the 1998 season is done! Greg Moore and Forsythe will be partying hard over the winter at their success, and I'll give people a cool down before getting into a completely new and hopefully improved 1999 (unless you want me to start now).

I will accept any votes for ROTY (apart from the carset obviously) and then we can go from there.

ROTY -
#1 Vincenzo Sospiri
OI
FOCK U M8
#2 P.T. (Loser)
Paul Tracy, the opposite of how a Canadian should act and drive for that matter
at least he isn't Alex Tagliani in the Pinty's Series
#3 Penske and AAR
Sh**boxes, no doubt about that.

RoTY:
DHM:
Alessandro Zanardi: If this was judged on the first half of the year, he'd definitely be RoTY, but his dominant win in Portland redeemed him somewhat
Ford: Gutless on ovals, and with far too many blow-ups
3. Vincenzo Sospiri: Managed to repeat his F1 1997 misadventure, only this time in a decent team
2. JJ Lehto: Being outscored by Guallter Salles (and only narrowly outscoring King Hiro) is hardly a ringing endorsement for the ex-F1 pilot
1. Penske: Started with the highest budget, and yet ended up with the lowest championship positions of all the chassis manufacturers, including Eagle. A disappointing year definitely for the Captain's team
