Bettenhausen driver bids, all for one season.

Ricardo Zonta - $600,000
Oliver Gavin - $450,000
Jamie Davies - $450,000

Would it be possible to expand to two cars in the future?

You can, as long as you have the money.

1998 CART Championship - Driver warnings and caretaker offer

Post by Gertrand Bachot »

As things stand, only 2 teams are yet to have posted driver choices, and those teams are PacWest (RedEyes504) and Patrick (thor97). They will need to post their driver lineups by 31st December 2017, or I will force them to take 2 drivers of my choosing. The 3rd team, Walker (dr-baker), has already posted a lineup, but will need to do it again due to irreconcilable differences between the manager and the wished-for drivers. I will take into account this, and give Walker until 6th January 2018 (an extra week), before they too will be forced to take a driver of my choosing. I am also taking offers for someone to be appointed as the caretaker, as Hogan and Davis have no owner, to run those teams on a temporary basis until an owner of a more permanent basis is willing to run one of those teams. This is open to existing team managers only.

You most certainly can, as a caretaker. If possible could you also bid for a driver?

If RNG counts against this/she is not available for whatever reason, then the same deal to be offered to Sabine Schmitz.

Seriously????

What if they were offered one-year contracts instead?

Lyn wanted to stay in IRL for 1998, and Sabine didn't want to leave Europe, so that wouldn't change anything.

So I will offer $500,000 per year for one year to 1. Vincenzo Sosperi, 2. Gil de Ferran, 3. JJ Lehto (in order of preference).

Re: 1998 CART Championship - Driver RNG

Post by Gertrand Bachot »

I have now decided that the driver RNG will be on Sunday the 24th of December 2017, which is Christmas Eve, so thor97 and RedEyes504 will need to post their driver bids by 12:00pm GMT on Sunday, otherwise I will choose their drivers for them, and they won't be favorable.

And as it stands, IIRC PacWest is the only team missing a driver (or in this case, 2 drivers).

So long as the team get the right chassis/engine/tyre combo, the team's aim has to be Rookie of the Year.

You'll face stiff competition from All-American (erm, sort of...) Racers all-rookie lineup of Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan for that honour...

I have a few queries to make, before making my choices: firstly, have the budgets on the CART spreadsheet been updated to take into account driver wages, second can teams have a non-matching pair of chassis, and third can teams who have built their own chassis (i.e Penske and AAR/Eagle) upgrade their designs at any point?
