Paydrivers cannot be signed for a fully-sponsored car, unless you offer them a wage like every other driver. Please amend.

Driver signings complete, and finance has been updated. I'll start going through what you need to do for Indy 500 entries soon.

NEW SPREADSHEET TIME.

You may now begin posting Indy 500 entries. Here's how it works:

- To ensure your entry is ratified, you must have 100% of the car funded by sponsors.

- Teams must be realistic; either some previous IndyCar relationship must have existed or hold some relevant canon presence.

- On the spreadsheet is the tab "Indy 500 sponsors". You may list up to 10 sponsors you wish to target between each race. After each one, the outcomes will be RNGed and you'll then have to list sponsors again until you've reached 100%.

- You may begin now, and must have reached 100% before Round 5 to guarantee your Indy 500 entry makes the grid.

- Should you have a shortfall, there are some select drivers who will add to the budget of your car. Furthermore, if you're adding a third car, you may have a sponsor which will contribute a certain portion of backing.

- Twelve (12) entries may undergo this process. Should more than seven (7) achieve 100%, then we'll have a qualifying elimination stage (ie. bumping on Bump Day).

- Engines have equivalency for the Indy 500 (read: I can't be arsed to mess about with different engines in rF) so engine choice is purely cosmetic for this round.

- Please fill out this form:

Things I must add which I've forgotten:

When adding up your sponsor backing, the cumulative total must be =100%. No more, no less. You can choose to portion up your sponsor bids in light of this.

indycar.com wrote:First blood to Power in Indianapolis pre-season test

Team Penske driver Will Power climbed to the top of the timesheets in the opening pre-season test of the 2020 Airbnb IndyCar Series, posting a 1:13.314s time on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course in the morning portion of running to beat team-mate Simon Pagenaud to top spot by 0.079s.

Power opened his account in the early stages of the session, setting his best time within the opening thirty minutes of running before subsequently batting off the likes of Ashley Cassidy and James Hinchcliffe by a hundredth of a second to claim bragging rights over lunch.

Pagenaud then attempted to hit back, clocking in a 1:13.393 lap to head the afternoon session before his post-break fastest run was matched to the thousandth by Power. However, the Australian's time from the morning was unbeaten throughout the rest of the day.

Cassidy bettered her time from the earlier session to consolidate third place, while Hinchcliffe's early time was enough to cement the Canadian in fourth. Carlos Munoz was the lead Chip Ganassi Racing car in fifth, ahead of newcomer Nicholas Latifi of Cassidy Racing in sixth.

2016 Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi returned in seventh place to beat newcomer Patricio O'Ward by 0.009s, as Andretti Autosport pair Felipe Massa and Marco Andretti completed the top ten.

Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2018 IndyCar champion, completed the day 12th.

Pre-season Test 2 @ Sonoma

Image

I'll crack on with the first round at some point this weekend, and so you'll all have the opportunity to make any updates you need. The cut-off will be this Friday at 8pm BST.

This is the spreadsheet with all the relevant info you need.

Engines:

Upgrades 1, 2 and 3 can be purchased, and must be done so in a consecutive order. Upgrade 4 will be unlocked mid-season, and five will be unlocked at the turn of 2021.

Mechanics and Marketing

Mechanics affect reliability. Each level reduces the reliability from the base stat (engine reliability plus nominal reliability stat which is the same for all teams) by 5%. It's $400,000 per level from Levels 1-5, and then it increases in cost between each subsequent step.

Marketing is planning for the long-term. Sinking more money into marketing adds an extra 5% in your favour during sponsorship and driver RNG phases, as long as a bid is contested by more than one team. This is $200,000 per level from Levels 1-5, and then it increases in cost between each subsequent step.

Rewards

Comes from achievements as dictated by your sponsor.

News Articles

Each news "article" you post between each round following Round 1 (up to a maximum of three) yields $5,000.

Dale Coyne Racing have made a late change to their 2020 IndyCar lineup, with Santino Ferrucci being dropped from the team on the eve on the second test. In his place, American rookie Ryan Tveter has been brought in for the road and street courses, with Sage Karam driving the #19 Smithfield machine on the six oval tracks on the schedule, including the Indianapolis 500.

"It's unfortunate that we've had to make this decision, and we wish Tino well in his future endeavours," lamented team owner Dale Coyne. "However, with that came the option to give two young guys the opportunity to make their make. Ryan is a great young talent who's achieved a lot in Europe, and we're excited to see what he does for us. Along with him, we've also brought Sage Karam into the fold, and he gives both Ryan and Jack a benchmark to work off. He's one of the best young talents going around at the moment, and he's excited to be with us at Indianapolis and the other ovals on the calendar."

When asked about what brought about the late change, Coyne declined to make comment, stating that it was a 'purely internal matter between Santino and the team.' It has been rumoured that Ferrucci had been a divisive figured within the organisation, leading to a falling out with management and his replacement on the eve of the new season.

Okay ladies and gents, after mucho delay the budgets have been updated with the latest financial manoeuvrings.

Now, it's time for the first set of Indy 500 bids! We begin with drivers...

Daniel Ricciardo Stewart-Haas Racing
1-70: Takes the drive, immediately runs to Penske to try and prise the #3 away...
71-100: Decides he's not up for it.
41! Daniel Ricciardo takes the (provisional) SHR drive.

Takuma Sato Ed Carpenter Racing
1-80: Fancies one last hurrah in Indycar (hey, that rhymed!)...
81-100: Takuma Sat-no.
58! Sato joins Ed's squad for the 500.

Spencer "Spigot" Pigot Juncos Racing
1-80: He's won Pro Mazda and Indy Lights with Juncos...so he decides this is a neat continuation of things...
81-100: Spigot decides to tap into a different project. I dunno, something with IMSA probably...
48! Pigot heads up the Juncos entry.

Dreyer & Reinbold: Karam's confirmed at Dale Coyne for all oval events, so we move straight onto Hildebrand.

John Randal "J.R." Hildebrand Dreyer & Reinbold Racing
1-90: Justice for J.R.
91-100: Has a flashback to 2011 and decides instead to deliver a TED Talk on the diversification of the motor industry.
1! Doesn't even bother writing his speech, just gets to it.

Zach Veach Coyne Team Pelfrey
1-80: Veach hops aboard the bright yellow Pelfrey machine for the 500.
81-100: Takes his family on a Veach holiday
57! Veach takes the seat.

Pippa "The Real One" Mann Grace Autosport
1-75: Mann aboard at Grace.
76-100: Decides she's done with the 500
64! Pippa takes the seat, bringing Susan G. Komen in tow.

Buddy Lazier Lazier Partners Racing
1-100: I do not need to run this.

Rene Binder Harding Racing
1-80: Takes the Binder family timber money to the US.
81-100: Decides he'd rather stick to...sportscars? Whatever it is he's doing in this universe...
78! Ren-yay.

Before I move any further, I'd like to request that CaptainGetz and mike robers change their team names.

Could everyone also go ahead and select some numbers for their 500 entries? Thanks.
