The BTCC race 1-2-3 alternate championship
Posted: 21 Aug 2017, 21:32
This BTCC alternate championship will take the real results, but only some of them. Each race 1 in a season will have its own title as will each race 2 and each race 3 so that there are 3 championships in 1 year. The race 1 championship, the race 2 championship and the race 3 championship.
The points system will be 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. There will be no fastest lap or lap leading points.
so the first result is
2004 BTCC race 3 championship standings
1. Yvan Muller 86
2. James Thompson 83
3. Robert Huff 72
4. Anthony Reid 68
5. Jason Plato 64
6. Colin Turkington 61
7. Dan Eaves 46
8. Matt Neal 40
9. Tom Chilton 39
10. Luke Hines 34
11. Rob Collard 19
12. Micheal Bentwood 15
13. James Kaye 10
14. Carl Breeze 10
15. Sean Watson Smith 6
16. Jason Hughes 4
17. Stefan Hodgetts 3
So Muller is champion here rather than the actual 2004 champion Thompson. The big surprise I saw was how well Huff did in this one, although he did have 2 wins. Plato had a terrible start to the year only scoring 20 points in the first 5 rounds. Reid meanwhile was a serious contender early on, but dropped off towards the end.
