QuickSim: Alternate F1 - The Manufacturer Era - 1999 Season

Given as his post works really well, I am totally going to steal the introduction sequence from Simtek for this series.

The Simulator

Simtek wrote:Grand Prix 2, same as what I use for Anglo-Irish F4, same as what Normal uses for F3 Eurasia, what novitopoli and CaptainGetz12 use for their F4 series, what Ataxia uses for IndyCar, what Pasta uses for... look, you get the idea, it's popular, it works, moving on.

The Cars

There will be little deviation from the cars that were run in real F1 in this time period, mostly slight performance adjustments based on the previous performance of a team the season before.

The Drivers

Before the start of each season, you are free to offer contracts for two driver slots.

Your choice will be limited in that you must fulfill two out of three objectives when signing drivers. Those objectives will be given and explained to you in private.

If multiple teams are looking for a certain driver, RNG will decide their fate.

The Teams

11 teams for 1999, 2 cars per team. Those 11 teams have been determined by the needs of the canon and previous developments:

West McLaren Mercedes (salamander)
Scuderia Ferrari (biscione)
Benetton Arrows Playlife (kevinbotz)
Benson & Hedges Jordan (Reject_Dom)
Winfield Williams (novitopoli)
Gauloises Prost Peugeot (ataxia)
HSBC Stewart Ford (pinkd56)
Red Bull Sauber Petronas (wizzie)
MasterCard Lola Formula One Racing Team (petoli)
Fondmetal Minardi Team (Normal32)
British American Racing (This Could Be You)

I hereby ask all team owners to report back to the series.

If any team owners fail to report back, their replacements will be decided by me in a hopefully fair selection process.

The Race Weekend

305 km except Monaco, you all know how a Formula One race works. Furthermore, there will be two one-hour sessions to determine the grid.

The Points System

10, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 for the time being.

The Race Calendar

TBA

If this is all automated, what do I do?

You pick the drivers, hope for the best and if you wish, you may change the lineup by replacing a driver with a driver picked from one of my suggestions if you can provide a good justification

I'll continue in charge of Prost, and attempt to channel Alain's skills in nail-biting and looking generally worried.

From now on, you may apply for driver changes by sending me a message which details why you think a driver replacement is sensible. If approved, you will be handed a list of at least two drivers from which you may pick the replacement. Please note that because of me already being behind schedule, there is a good chance your change may not be implemented until race 8.

WDC after 4 Rounds:
1. David Coulthard 27
2. Michael Schumacher 20
3. James Davies 17
4. Mika Hakkinen 12
5. Jack Christopherson 6
=5. Pedro de la Rosa 6
7. Ralf Schumacher 4
=7. Rubens Barrichello 4
9. Heinz-Harald Frentzen 3
10. Giancarlo Fisichella 2
11. Stephane Sarrazin 1
=11. Rhys Davies 1
=11. Eddie Irvine 1

WCC after 4 Rounds
1. Ferrari 47
2. Mclaren 29
3. Benetton Arrows 10
4. Jordan 9
5. Williams 6
6. Sauber 1 (Best Result: 1x6th, 1x7th, 1x8th)
7. Prost 1 (Best Result: 1x6th, 1x7th, 1x10th)
8. Minardi 1 (Best Result: 1x6th, 1x11th)
9. Stewart 0 (Best Result: 2x8th)
10. Lola 0 (Best Result: 1x8th)
11. BAR 0 (Best Result: 1x10th)

(as you can see, BAR is somehow doing even worse than last year in the WCC despite having a better chassis, engine and drivers than last year, albeit with equally poor reliability)
