@Dexter249/Toleman - I'm not annoyed that it's been three weeks and you haven't yet posted your tyre and fuel want-list, because I've genuinely really enjoyed having this three-week vacation from running the series and getting my sexeh~ beach tan on, but in the words of Gordon Gecko, "Christmas is over and business is business." :D

Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 1% chance
Toleman - 8% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Spirit - 1% chance

McLaren gets it!

Goodyear - Set Four:
Tyrrell - 20% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Alfa Romeo - 18% chance (Existing customer bonus)
BMW - 14% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Williams - 13% chance (Existing customer bonus)

Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 1% chance
Toleman - 11% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Spirit - 1% chance
Ligier - 1% chance
Minardi - 1% chance
Zakspeed - 1% chance
Lola - 11% chance (Same nationality bonus)
Tyrrell gets it!

Goodyear - Set Five:
Alfa Romeo - 23% chance (Existing customer bonus)
BMW - 18% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Williams - 17% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Arrows - 3% chance
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 2% chance
Toleman - 14% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Spirit - 1% chance
Ligier - 1% chance
Minardi - 1% chance
Zakspeed - 1% chance

Goodyear - Set Six:
BMW - 23% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Williams - 22% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Arrows - 4% chance
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 2% chance
Toleman - 18% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Spirit - 2% chance
Ligier - 2% chance
Minardi - 2% chance
Zakspeed - 2% chance
Lola - 18% chance (Same nationality bonus)
Arrows gets it!

Hmm~... Arrows would prefer they get one of the much-coveted Pirelli works deals:

Pirelli - Works, Set One:
Lotus - 24% chance
Arrows - 16% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 28% chance (Same nationality and existing customer bonus!)
Spirit - 15% chance (Existing customer bonus)
RAM - 15% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Lotus gets it!

Nnn~ope for Arrows, although Lotus have got their first choice!

Pirelli - Works, Set Two:
Arrows - 22% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 37% chance (Same nationality and existing customer bonus!)
Spirit - 20% chance (Existing customer bonus)
RAM - 20% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa gets it!

No luck for Arrows, who will therefore take their second choice of the Goodyear rubber, while we wait and see whether Osella will get their first choice of Goodyears or not.

Goodyear - Set Seven:
BMW - 24% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Williams - 23% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 2% chance
Toleman - 19% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Spirit - 2% chance
Ligier - 2% chance
Minardi - 2% chance
Zakspeed - 2% chance
Lola - 19% chance (Same nationality bonus)
Williams gets it!

Goodyear - Set Eight:
BMW - 32% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 3% chance
Toleman - 25% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Spirit - 3% chance
Ligier - 3% chance
Minardi - 3% chance
Zakspeed - 3% chance
Lola - 25% chance (Same nationality bonus)
Toleman gets it!

Goodyear - Set Nine:
BMW - 43% chance (Existing customer bonus)
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa - 5% chance
Spirit - 4% chance
Ligier - 4% chance
Minardi - 4% chance
Zakspeed - 4% chance
Lola - 33% chance (Same nationality bonus)
Lola gets it!

I almost thought the local boys weren't going to get one~...

This therefore means that Osella Squadra Corse Alfa will take the second, and final, Pirelli works deal.

With two semi-works deals from Pirelli available, and only two candidates still interested, BMW and Ligier will both take those deals!

Spirit, Minardi, Zakspeed and RAM will all use Pirelli tyres on a customer basis, for 1985.

@Williams/Collieafc...

...& ...

... @Toleman/Dexter249

Both your teams failed to sign any of your preferred fuel suppliers. As this is the only phase of fuel signing, you must sign deals before we can move-on.

For your convenience, I provide below an extensive list of remaining fuel supply deals. Although Antar and Agip both have deals remaining, neither of your teams meet their required criterion, so I have removed them from the list.

Remaining Fuel Suppliers
Mobil
Nationality: United States
Performance: 50%
Cost for season: £590,000
Supply capacity: 1 team only

Valvoline
Nationality: United States
Performance: 30%
Cost for season: £195,000
Supply capacity: 2 teams only

Can both of you please choose your preferred supplier(s) from the list above. Thanks.

I'm not complaining, as I have the best tyres and the best fuel now, but I thought Lotus couldn't bid for works Pirellis (they ran Goodyears in '84, if I remember correctly)

Anyway I'll start work on the Zakspeed and Spirit liveries in the next few days.

I wonder if it's because Thor (Lotus) put a bid ONLY for the works Pirellis, and nothing else...

I think you've isolated the cause of this exactly. Although thor97 essentially bid for no tyres at all, the ultimate responsibility for this lays with me, especially as I've had about three weeks, now, to get it right.

Conflict Resolution - Pirelligate
It has come to light that, due to a lack of oversight on the supplier's part, Pirelli has signed a works tyre contract for 1985 with the Lotus F1 team.

In the Italian media, there are early signs that the tyre company will receive significant criticism, given the company's prominent position in the sport, and that existing Pirelli customer teams based in Italy - currently believed to be Minardi only - have lost out as a result.

To prevent further media blow-back against the Italian tyre supplier, Pirelli request that the Lotus team sign an Italian driver in their remaining race seat - alongside fellow Italian de Angelis - and sign an Italian engine deal, to further represent the country in the sport, and neutralize expected bad press.

Failure to do so will result in the Lotus team being demoted to 'customer' status at Pirelli, losing the vital opportunity to develop the dry and wet compounds, being refunded the difference, and - should this happen, after all driver and engine signing has been completed - the newly-vacated works deal being given to the Minardi team, who - as loyal Pirelli customers - will essentially receive an upgrade to factory-backed status with the tyre supplier, at no cost to the team.

In this situation, Pirelli plan to recover the lost revenue from the works deal by increasing the price of semi-works and/or works deals in 1986.

Here's the first batch of 1985 liveries:

Zakspeed: (looks a bit like a Gold Leaf Lotus, weirdly EDIT: updated based on Carlospace's comments)
Image

Spirit: (This is a bit of a mess to be honest, not helped by the 101D's ungainly shape)
Image

Osella Squadra Corse Alfa:

Once the second round of sponsorship occurs, more will appear.

Nice liveries TCBY!

Can I ask for one little thing for the Zakspeed livery?
I'd like to have the thin red line of Milde Sorte on the edge of gold&red, is that possible? Like seen here: http://www.zigsam.at/l0/B_Cig/MildeSorte100-20fAT198.jpg

Something like this?
Image
(if you're wondering why the lines stop at the sidepods, it looked weird when i mocked it up and I assume they'd go on the top of them)

EDIT: actually, after I redrew it having the lines extended didn't look so bad, so take your pick from the three designs:

Driver Signing – Set Two (Of Two)
Let's get started!

To attempt signing of a driver, simply state the driver's name, like this:

Code: Select all

Team Microfusion would like to sign the following drivers:
Ronnie Rogers
Michael Chetwood
Tim Burgess
Paul Jackson
Taj Wyzgowski

Pay drivers are indicated by red font, and brackets surrounding their salaries.

A couple of reminders:
BMW, Alfa Romeo, Osella Squadra Corse Alfa and Zakspeed - your engine suppliers have preferences on the driver nationalities they would prefer to see in your team. In BMW and Zakspeed's cases, this is a German driver, and in Alfa Romeo and their junior team's cases, an Italian driver. It's just a preference, though...

Teams without an engine deal - left-over from phase one of engine signing, there will still be a BMW semi-works engine deal available and both Alfa Romeo customer deals. If you are interested in signing one of those deals in phase two of engine signing, remember that the BMW deal requires at least one German driver on your team, and the Alfa deals an Italian driver on your team.

For reference, here are each team's vacant seats, which they must fill in this phase:

McLaren have both seats available.
Brabham have one seat available.
Lotus have one seat available.
Ferrari have two seats available.
Tyrrell do not have any vacant seats.
Alfa Romeo have both seats available.
BMW have one seat available.
Williams do not have any vacant seats.
Arrows have one seat available.
Osella Squadra Corse Alfa have one seat available.
Toleman do not have any vacant seats.
Spirit do not have any vacant seats.
Ligier do not have any vacant seats.
Minardi have both seats available.
RAM do not have any vacant seats.
Zakspeed have one seat available.
Lola have one seat available.

OK~, now go have at it~!

Well the fuel singing went well for us didn't it! Tyre didn't go to plan, but oh well. Ram however are not 100% pleased that Minardi got the free upgrade on tyres as RAM were also Pirelli users last year, but oh well Suppose it's a nationality thing.

Osella will try to sign:
Andrea de Cesaris
Pierluigi Martini
Alessandro Nannini

Also gonna quickly add that the Osella and Zakspeed liveries look brilliant. I'm expecting to see more of these beauties on the grid.

Your annoyance on the upgrade matter is very understandable, and demonstrates your perceptiveness. Along with both you and Minardi, Spirit were also candidates for the works deal.

You are correct that it was a nationality issue, but it was mainly due to the high-speed at which tyre data could be transferred by domestic Italian post (electronic communication of large amounts of data not having been invented, yet). Having already signed one Italian works team, having to exchange research internationally - with the delays that would add - was considered undesirable, and so giving works priority to Minardi for 1985 is intended to make compound upgrades to Pirelli customers - like yourself - quicker. ;)

Thank you all for the driver lists, so far ;).

...

In a similar theme to the performance rankings added a while ago, I have added a 'Nationalities' data section, which can be seen below the 'Rankings', in this post, at the start of the thread.

I originally intended to use this analysis feature for personal use, as I wanted to see which teams were most likely to attract certain outside investment opportunities from domestic companies, to aid writing special events for the future. However, I wrote a thing that can spit it all out in syntax for this board, so I can auto-generate the 'Nationalities' section after each signing phase for you all.

I know there's been some rather determined efforts by... certain Italian~ teams... to keep their external contracts as red-white-and-green as possible, and currently the Osella Squadra Corse Alfa team has opened the proverbial 'can-of-whooping-ass' in that regard.
