The problem here is that, while Thompson will definitely turn 15 during 2019, there doesn't seem to be any way of verifying his date of birth, so he could be underage at the start of the season. I'd recommend going for another candidate just in case. On the plus side you can enter him again in 2020 and I can completely re-roll his stats from scratch.

Considering Jones already have a working relationship with him, Ethan Renaud will get the second Jones seat. Thanks for all the offers. Original post updated.

Post by Bobby Doorknobs »

Two things:

1. I still need bids from AdrianBelmonte by Tuesday. Otherwise I'm putting Ramy Ghazal into the FXS car.

2. I still need volunteers for single car entries. If AdrianBelmonte doesn't post bids then FXS will run one car like they did last year, but that will still mean 27 cars overall, which is above the limit. One of you will lose out on one of your drivers, so be prepared.

Re: 2019 Anglo-Irish F4 - Driver RNGs; testing plans!

Post by Bobby Doorknobs »

So, with no word received from AdrianBelmonte, FXS will continue to run one car and Ramy Ghazal will be the lucky driver. The RNGs for real-life candidates have been run and, noting the ambiguity over Harry Thompson's age, I've made his into something of a coin toss to determine his eligibility. The results:

Collin Daley Jr.
1-95: Calinetic
96-100: Gives up his belated career
Result: 92

Harry Platten
1-95: Carlin
96-100: Ginetta Juniors
Result: 51

Will Tregurtha
1-95: Arden
96-100: Waits in vain for an F3 drive to materialise
Result: 88

Harry Thompson
1-50: Fortec
51-100: Takes a step back to Ginetta Juniors for a year
Result: 78

With that, and with no backup choices made, Fortec will have to run a single car this year. The final lineups look something like this.

And now we move on to the next order of business, which is our new and innovative™ testing programme. For each of the three tests you will be asked to tell your drivers what to focus on. The three areas in which they can improve are:

  • Race pace
  • One-lap pace
  • Consistency

For the pre-season test, all rookie drivers will be exempt. As you have no idea of what they can actually improve on, they will be left until the first mid-season test. For anyone unsure, the drivers that have been designated rookies are:

  • Ramy Ghazal
  • Harry Platten
  • Emma Le Blan
  • Toshio Maka
  • Siobhán de Bhailéara
  • Gabriel Hoffmann

This time there will be no enforced deadline until the other F4 series are a little bit further along with their pre-seasons. For now you just post your pre-season testing programme whenever you're ready.

Sorry, dude, but Ghazal's a rookie, so he won't be eligible for stat building until the first mid-season test, by which time there will be results to look back on and see how he can do better.

Anyway, it's good to see people's enthusiasm in their posting of all upgrade plans bar one in such short order. That one is CaptainGetz12 but, again, there is no fixed deadline, you can still consider your decision with great care for at least a little while longer. I also see that Normal32 has not posted anything for DiBenedetto, though I suspect it is a deliberate attempt to make him the Yuji Ide (or perhaps "Dragon"?) of western F4, for which he can't be faulted, given the spirit this forum is supposed to celebrate.

Now, the relevant part: I'm going to run the first race as soon as the South American season has completed its Mexican round and the Asian season has completed its opening round. In other words, I'm going to try and keep this championship coordinated with the other F4 series as closely as possible, something I'd like to ask other series runners - particularly those new to the practice - to do. It would be best not to get too far ahead of each other in case any drivers try to cross over; injuries can really complicate things if a series is lagging behind/too far ahead in such a situation.

Races will of course be run live in the chatroom. There may also be audio streaming, just because I want to be different (special snowflake is a term I've been seeing thrown around a lot recently).

If it's any help, the first round of Asian F4 will run on Friday 27th, (I would've started earlier but for exams) with events being run every two weeks to make room for my 18m-Debut BTCC series to alternate with it.

Re: 2019 Anglo-Irish F4 - First race delayed (IRL)

Post by Bobby Doorknobs »

On account of a certain driver (who I won't bother naming) being named as a candidate for a North American F4 drive, I'm going to delay the running of the Vivion Daly Trophy (yeah, it's been renamed after a more contemporary Irish motorsport award) until at least pre-season testing for the North American series has ended, or if said candidate fails to get a drive. North American testing is likely to affect this driver's performance; the stat boosts will not stack up, instead performance for the first few races will be based on an average from the pre-season tests of both series.

EDIT: The driver has been withdrawn. Everything will go ahead as planned.

Re: 2019 Anglo-Irish F4 - Vivion Daly Trophy Up!

Post by Bobby Doorknobs »

The first rounds have been run, congratulations to Magda Szervánszky, who has been awarded the Vivion Daly Trophy, which has been given based on the combined times of both races. The race broadcasts can be found below (warning: contains uncomfortable amounts of dead air, references to chatroom goings on of the moment and rambling about Valtteri Bottas and Manor... and one or two instances of mild swearing):

Race 1
Race 2

Full results: http://imgur.com/a/0FsYX

Unfortunately I forgot to screenshot second qualifying and doing it on the grid screen is quite impractical given how little information it shows compared to the timing screen, so I wrote the positions down:

1. Wilkerson
2. Szervánszky
3. Daley
4. Hoffmann
5. De Bhailéara
6. Morioka
7. Ghazal
8. Enoh
9. Descoteaux
10. Laurier
11. Lockwood
12. Jones
13. Tregurtha
14. Campbell-Bannerman
15. Davies
16. J. McMahon
17. S. McMahon
18. Mac Aodha
19. Almeida
20. Triggs
21. Platten
22. Le Blan
23. DiBenedetto
24. Renaud
25. Bronson
26. Maka

For anyone without the time to listen to the audio, Almeida went off at the last corner and didn't get going again until the very end, when he crossed the line about nine laps down.

How the championship is shaping up: http://formularejects.com/wiki/2019_Ang ... ampionship

FIA Stewards Report wrote:Mondello Park | Anglo-Irish Formula 4 | Race 2 penalties

Having reviewed footage and spoken to the drivers in question, the following punishment has been given to the following competitor:

  • Christopherson Racing #5 (Ione Wilkerson) has been given 20 penalty points for causing a collision, judged to be deliberate, with race winner Magda Szervánszky on the slowdown lap of the second race. As a result, she is banned from all FIA Formula 4 events taking place between now and the 21 April.

Drivers who accumulate 20 penalty points will serve a one weekend ban, which applies across all FIA Formula 4 series worldwide. Penalty points expire 12 months from the date of issue, and roll over into the next season if applicable.

Post by Bobby Doorknobs »

The Brands Hatch races are complete. Gabriel Hoffmann presented his championship credentials by winning the first race and ending the weekend a point ahead of Szervánszky. He is also the winner of this year's Guards Trophy with the best aggregate time for both races. As usual, this has no effect on the championship. Meanwhile, Maka produced a shock win in race 2 after starting 3rd, a result I cannot explain. Pole position also appears to be cursed, with no polesitter having been able to convert to a win so far this year.

Audio stream. Usual warning applies.

Results

This time it was Q1 I forgot to screenshot. Results:

1. Daley
2. Tregurtha
3. Lockwood
4. Descoteaux
5. Hoffmann
6. Almeida
7. J. McMahon
8. Mac Aodha
9. Enoh

23. DiBenedetto
24. Le Blan
25. Maka
26. Platten

And lastly, the championship: http://formularejects.com/wiki/2019_Ang ... ampionship
