Ruleset:
Cars:
South American F4 is a one-make series, based upon This Could Be You's Dome chassis and a 1,6L Fiat-Abarth engine.
The teams have to choose whether they're running with a conservative, a moderate or an aggressive setup. If no other choice is communicated, a moderate setup (no grip/CFP changes) will be the default choice.
Running an aggressive setup means a small grip boost, but higher CFP. A conservative setup will reduce your grip but make your car more reliable. The setup may not be changed more than twice over the course of the season.
No further upgrades to the cars are allowed.
Drivers:
14 two-car teams are allowed to enter the series on a first-come-first-served basis. Users missing out may join the waiting list. Only teams based in South or Central America are allowed. The teams will compete for a team championship.
Drivers should also preferrably be South or Central American, but don't necessarily have to. Minimum age is, as in every other F4 series since the beginning of the 2019 season, 15 years at the time of the first race of the season (DOB before 26/01/2004).
Both real-life and fictional drivers are allowed - rookie performances (as well as performances for RL drivers without sufficient sources on their background) will be RNG'ed, other performances will be evaluated on the ground of previous results.
Races:
The races will follow the same double-header format used in Anglo-Irish F4 and NAF4, consisting of two approximately 40 km long races, each with separate qualifying. Each race will see two cars fail to qualify, since the maximum grid size is set at 26.
An exception will be the last round at Curitiba, supporting F1: after two regular races on Friday and Saturday, a double-length race with double points will be a last title decider.
The points system is the same 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system used in other F4 regional series. Pole position and fastest lap give 2 points for each race. The penalty system is the same used in the other regional series.
Driver Upgrades:
Here the big innovation of this series - an opportunity for team/DEC owners to "play a role" in the drivers' performance.
Drivers are divided into two categories: "Stay-at-Home" (DEC owner manages upgrade path) and "Academy" (team owner manages upgrade path). Real life drivers are always treated as Academy drivers.
There are 6 upgrade tokens for each driver. Between 0 and 3 of them may be spent between the first round of the season and the first test, between the first and the second test as well as between the second test and the last round of the season.
There are 3 upgrade classes, costing 3, 2 and 1 token respectively. 3-token ones can give a bigger advantage - but be aware: they have a greater chance to backfire... No (single) upgrade may be used more than once.
Apart from that, the two mid-season tests provide for upgrade opportunities.
