The Final results of Toyota F1 Idol are:

Driver 1, Defending World Champion Kimi Raikkonen

Driver 2, 7 Time World Champion, back from retirement, Michael Schumacher

Test Driver: Former Jordan driver, Narain Karthikeyan

------------------------

First number is budget, I'll also note the gains, but mostly losses, between each round.
Car weight is important for pace, the min limit is 600kg, no one will be anywhere near it at any stage of this contest.

EMS is IMPORTANT. A bug in this game means running driver aids higher than you ems level will cause your cars to DNF.

Fuel Tank: The percent shows how far a car can go into a race on one full tank of fuel. Anything less than 60% (I mean you could try 50% I guess) means you must stop at least twice per race. One stop strategies are rarely that good in this game.

Ferrari - 30,000,000 - Klon
Drivers: Jacques Villeneuve, Karun Chandhok, Jarno Trulli

Car Weight: 664 KG
EMS: Level 3
Fuel Tank 40%

Re: GPM2 2008 - The Manufacture Era

Post by Shadaza »

First thing I'm going to go over is staff numbers. Staff are split into the following regions:

Design, Engineering, Mechanics and Commercial.

The first three are the stages needed to develop parts, get the car ready, get driver aids and design the car for next season (This must be done, even if the game can only handle one season, I hope to try for more.) The last is commercial which is strictly for sponsors. The better your team reputation and commercial department the more chance you have at attracting big sponsors (Will cover soon.)

Here are the base numbers for each team. I will use the following abbreviations for Staff:
E = Excellent, VG = Very Good, G = Good, A = Average, T = Trainee

You can have a max of 50 staff per talent band, so in theory 250 staff per department.

Design
E= $75,000, VG=69,000 ,G=63,000 A= 57,000 T= 51,000
Here are the design heads: Image
Ferrari
E10, VG10, G10, A6. cost = 2.912 Million Per Season

McLaren
E5 . Cost = 0.755 Million

Renault
E10, VG10, G10. = 2.530 Million

BMW
E10, VG10, G2 = 1.946 Million

Red Bull
E10 , VG10, G10, A10, T2 = 3.242 Million

Toro Rosso
E10 , VG4 = 1,406 Million

Williams
E4 = 0.760 Million

Force India
E9 = 1.015 Million

Honda
E6 0.750 Million

Super Aguri
E7 = 0.745 Million

Prodrive
E10, VG10, G10, A10 = 3.100 Million

Jordan
T1 = 0.071 Million (You may wanna beef this up a bit.)

Engineers
E=40,000 VG =35,000, G=30,000 A=25,000 T=20,000
Image

Ferrari
E10, VG10, G10, A10, T2 = 1.403 Million

McLaren
E10, VG10, G10, A10, T4 - 1.445 Million

Renault
E10, VG10, G10, A10, T9 = 1.545 Million

BMW
E10 VG8 = 0.739 Million

Red Bull
E10, VG6 - 0.689 Million

Toro Rosso
E7 = 0.339 Million

Williams
E10, VG1 = 0.498 Million

Force India
E6 = 0.297 Million

Honda
E9 = 0.415 Million

Super Aguri
E5 = 0.251 Million

ProDrive
E6 = 0.299 Million

Jordan
E6 = 0.303 Million

Mechanics

Image
E: 35,000, VG: 30,000, G: 25,000 A: 20,000 T: 15,000

This department is important especially for car set up, too few and your car may not be set up properly for the races.
Ferrari
E10 VG10 G10 A10 T3 = 1.198 Million

McLaren
E10 VG10 G10 A10 T6 = 1.245 Million

Renault
E10 VG10 G10 A6 = 1.075 Million

BMW
E10, VG10 G8 = 0.899 Million

Red Bull
E10, VG10, G3 = 0.744 Million

Toro Rosso
E6 = 0.257 Million

Williams
E10, VG10, = 0.703 Million

Force India
E7 = 0.292 Million

Honda
E6 = 0.255 Million

Super Aguri
E5 = 0.216 Million

Prodrive
E4 = 0.189 Million

Jordan
E5 = 0.228 Million

I will cover Commerical soon. If unsure about staff, just leave it (though the smaller teams should hire sooner rather than latter) After each race you get a progress report on development and you will see if you are behind or ahead of where you want to be.

First things first:
For all departments, the "Average" employees get the boot.
In the design department, they are replaced by 9 trainees.
In the engineering department, the very good employees also get released and 7 more trainees are added.
In the mechanics department, they are replaced by additional 6 trainees.

Williams will make the necessary hirings and firings to end up with the following final staff levels:

Designers: E30
Engineers: E30
Mechanics: E20

Also, we'll change our fuel tanks to 40% for the two race cars (Vettel and Kovalainen), and if allowed, we'll break into Super Aguri, Honda and Jordan to nick their EMS

Also, if possible, I'd like to start working on an in-house front wing. Set the times for all of my staff as follows:

We'll also plunder Honda, Super Aguri and Force India in that order, mostly for the EMS, but we'll take anything of use. :D

BMW will break into Toro Rosso and steal their EMS and anything else performance wise. We will also break into Prodrive and nick their fuel tank and anything else we can take.

In order to protect our factory we want to lay a minefield and post snipers on the roof and a couple of Main Battle Tanks in reserve :D

Well I was going to do Commercial next, but break ins are more fun! So I will cover the RnD section now.

First Driver aids:

Image

Only Semi Automatic Gears is legal for the first season, but you can develop and run any of them and if you are feeling brave put them on the car! There is a chance you won't get caught!

Image

Next comes car development, I want to make it 100% clear I want all teams to have finished their 2009 car by season's end. I'm hoping the game will be stable for a season 2, if not I will still run a 2nd season and will penalise anyone that didn't complete their car anyway!

You can set the focus on car development or RND, as you can see. I will give progress updates for every team after each race. There are 16 races in the season so to get the car complete in time you need to complete at least 6-7% of the car between each race. You can adjust the slider now if you wish, but it may be best to wait until after the first race to see in how much trouble your team is!

Image

And finally the fun part! Stealing. Not pictured here are Williams who cost 40,000 to steal from.

The cost band indicates the level of security with the higher teams harder to break into! Once in you have the option of stealing or trading. By default I will steal, but if the game gives me the "uh oh" warning I will trade instead.

Now what I will do is break in and tell you what that team does better than you and unless you said what you were after before, I will steal the highest value part.

You can attempt to break into as many teams as you want, but you can only steal from one team between each race.

Williams: All break in attempts Fail.

Prodrive: All break in attempts Fail.

Ferrari: All break in attempts Fail. (I did start the wing development, more on that later)

Red Bull: Successfully break into Super Aguri. You find the Gearbox, cooling, EMS, sidepods and airbox are all better. You can't steal the EMS, so you swap it for your Vanes design. Your EMS is now LEVEL 5.

Toro Rosso: You can't change security for season 1, but I will open it for season 2 in the second half of the season. You break into SuperAguri and find their Gearbox, EMS, Sidepods and Vanes (Hue) are better. You steal their EMS successfully. EMS now level 5.

Renault: You break into Super Aguri and find their Gearbox, EMS, Cooling, Sidepods and Vanes are better. You steal their EMS! EMS now level 5.

BMW: You do break into Prodrive, but anyone can have any size fuel tank, you don't need to steal that! But whilst you are there, you notice that Prodrive have better Cooling Systems, Suspension, Rear Wing and Vanes.
So you steal their suspension (It is slightly more expensive than the Rear Wing.)

McLaren will attempt to break into Williams, Red Bull and Toyota, in that order. Where possible, we will go for EMS but if it is of a lesser standard to ours then just the highest rated part

All attempts fail unfortunately.

Here is one additional point, if you wish you can cancel your security contract. You may think, "but Shadaza, why would I do that?!?"

Well if a team breaks into your base and fails to steal, they trade parts and that means you can get a performance boost!

We're just whoring out our EMS, aren't we?

Super Aguri will begin to develop a semi-auto gearbox, and would like to break into Williams and Red Bull to steal any parts with a higher rating.

I don't understand any of this to be honest (It's 2009, how des no one have a semi-auto box?)

But I guess Jordan will split our development money between next years car and the semi-auto box everyone forgot how to build.

And for security, we contact a group of shady Russians and buy a dirty bomb and irradiate "Formula One Row" where all your factories (Except ours!) are located. I win.

That's how you play this silly game isn't it?

Red Bull will set their development rate to 85/15 in favour of next season's car.

We'll also begin to develop our Semi Auto gearbox.
