1988 WTCM - Norschleife up! 1988 over!

Post by Miguel98 »

Yes, something in the 1988 is back!

After WTCC didn't get going, this one will (if everything goes our way) get going!

To give more info...
After WTCC disbanded at the start of 1988, teams weren't sure what to do. Money was spent on cars that couldn't be raced, so an agreement was made between the touring car organisations: a world championship would be created, suceeding the WTCC, which would allow cars from the previous WTCC, BTCC, DTM, ATCC and JTCC to enter, in order to cut costs from buying cars. Thus, the WTCM was born: World Touring Car Masters. The WCTM will run a format close to BTCC and DTM. Two races per weekend, with one race beeing the endurance race, and the second beeing a sprint race. More info on rules set.

Rules Set:
Race Weekend:
Each race weekend will feature two 50km's sprint races (one for class A/B, and one for class B/C), preceded by a 20 minutes qualifying sessions to determine which cars go into the main qualifying sessions. These two races will count towards the class championship, following the sprint race points scheme. A 1 hour long qualifying session (with some races featuring a top 10 shoot-out for pole), and two races: one endurance races, with distance varying between 250km’s and 500km’s; and one sprint race of 100km’s.
Number of qualifiers per class will vary depending on the circuit, and the sprint race will feature the top 10 from race 1 reversed.
The strategy of each will be determined by the team's manager, who will have information regarding the circuit in the race's preview.

Points Scheme:
1st: 20
2nd: 18
3rd: 16
4th: 15
5th: 14
6th: 13
7th: 12
8th: 11
9th: 10
10th: 9
11th: 8
12th: 7
13th: 6
14th: 5
15th: 4
16th: 3
17th: 2
18th: 1
Fastest Lap - 1 Point
Pole Position - 1 Point
Leading a lap on endurance race - 1 Point
-> Sprint Race
1st: 15
2nd: 12
3rd: 10
4th: 9
5th: 8
6th: 7
7th: 6
8th: 5
9th: 4
10th: 3
11th: 2
12th: 1
Fastest Lap - 1 Point
For the teams championship, the top two cars in the race for each team will count, while for the manufacturer championship will follow the sprint race points scheme.

Drivers:
-> Both real life and canon drivers can be used.
-> Real life drivers perf files will be based on real life results.
-> Canon drivers, in case they haven't got any background on canon, will have their perf files RNG'ed.
-> RNG will determine which team a real life driver drivers for.

Entries:
There can be manufacturer efforts (e.g. BMW, Holden, Ford), but there can be privateer entries as well.
Privateer need to buy cars from manufacturer, and can run specificic events only or full season.
There'll be separate championship for privateer entries.
Entries can be put between rounds, but again, if you want to hire a real life driver for a random privateer, he might decline.
Manufacturer can be bid for more than one team, but RNG will determine who gets manufacturer status.
Cars with more than one engine spec (e.g. the Mercedes), manufacturer teams can choose what version of the engine they'll give to privateers.
Important: A person can place a maximum of one manufacturer entries, two full season privateers and 2 one-offs per round.

Upgrades:
Privateers will be given 1 million.
Manufacturer will be give 3 million.
Only manufacturer teams can perform upgrades, whenever they want.
-> Upgrades can come in three packages:
Overall package (improves downforce, engine power and reliability on small scale) - 750.000
Engine package (improves engine power on a large scale, increases unreability) - 900.000
Downforce Package (improves downforce on a large scale) - 1.5 million
RNG will determine how much the improvement will be.
Privateer can ask manufacturer for upgrades for their car, but they'll have to pay 500.000 (overall), 750.000 (engine package) or 1.250 million (downforce).
--> Driver Upgrades:
Race Class - 400.000 (improves race ability, consistency, agressivesiness and overtaking, worses qualifying ability)
Qualifying Class - 300.000 (improves qualifying ability, worses race ability and consistency)
Wet Weather Class - 300.000 (improves wet weather ability, min.racing skill and composure)
Overall Class - 250.000 (small increase in everything)

Are you sure that set of liveries is safe to download? That website looks pretty dodgy...

Also, if possible, can you split up the liveries into one per car? People don't need all of those template at once and it takes up unnecessary download time and computer space as a result.

Adfly is against the spirit of the site. The link is being removed for now - instead I ask Miguel98 reupload the file elsewhere and not behind a cash-for-clicks wall.

My bad. :P

The link wasn't mine (it was the download link found on the website for the mod). I'll re-upload it now.

EDIT: Updated link now up!

Ill enter the same teams 2 that would have taken part in the 1988 WTCC had it gone ahead

Entry Form (Privateer):

There will be the manufacturer class and independents class. There'll be the other classes, which I'll take care of later on the entry process.

I've ran the manufacturer RNG's.

Ford RNG:
1-50 - Eggenberger Motorsport
51-100 - Kaliber Industrial Control Services Racing
Result: 64 - Kaliber Industrial Control Services Racing

BMW RNG:
1-50 - BMW Motorsport
51-100 - Euromotor International
Result: 9 - BMW Motorsport

Salamander gets the Ford manufacturer team and novitopoli gets the BMW manufacturer team.

Now it's time for the Driver RNG's!!!

For this, you must fill out this form:

Code: Select all

Driver Form:
-> Driver Name:
-> Paydriver (Yes or No):
-> Status (#1 driver, #2 driver..):
-> Number:
-> Salary:
-> Method of Payment (Per race/Per year):

You have until the 27th of December to do this!
