General plans for Netherlands and Poland

Max Verstappen will drive every time the event doesn't clash with F1. Robin Frijns will always be the second possibility. If both are unavailable, then I take a closer look on others

Robert Kubica will drive at every permanent racing venue (18 in the calendar, all except Durban and Surfers) if he doesn't have other commitments.

A3 Grand Prix Qualifying

Well most teams in A3 went with the conservative strategy for qualify but the top three are made up with those on the aggressive. Bahrain's Mohammed Mattar takes a perhaps surprising pole position from Kuwait's Zaid Ashkanani and Lebanon's Khalil Beschir marking a great day for the Middle Eastern nations. These three plus Qatar's Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari were the only drivers that got an RNG that took their performance beyond what a conservative strategy could have taken them.

Wales' Elfyn Evans was the best placed driver on the conservative strategy in 4th while picking up the wooden spoon is the oldest driver competing here in Durban, Dilantha Malagamuwa of Sri Lanka.

A1 Grand Prix Qualifying

Most of the grid were on the aggressive strategy which meant lots of potential for mistakes and though everyone managed to set their lap without crashing out there will be some disapointed drivers who made costly errors. Most notably one of the favorites going into this weekend, Fernando Alonso who finds himself down in 19th. Kevin Magnussen, Max Verstappen and Esteban Gutierrez were amongst the others that made errors on their laps.

France's Romain Grosjean allowed France to finally top a session by taking pole position with Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya alongside in 2nd and Germany's Sebastian Vettel in 3rd. Canada's James Hinchcliffe was the best placed driver on the conservative strategy in 9th.

Currently I have ran A3 and recorded lap by lap progression, and should have A2 and A1 ran over the next couple of days. I'm holding off on publishing results till after as I am thinking of providing commentary coverage once I have all three races recorded on excel. I will definitely be uploading some kind of pdf showing the lap by lap progression that I have recorded which will allow you all to follow the progression of your teams even if you miss the commentary.

It looks like I'm not going to have enough time for any commentaries with this but I hope these lap by lap pdfs are a good alternative. They show where everyone was on each lap. Laps highlighted in yellow are laps run under safety car. Drivers shown as brown are taking a pitstop and drivers shown in red have been involved in a collision.

A3 is up and I'll have A2 uploaded in around an hour. A1 is still to be run thanks to real life getting in the way. :facepalm:

Incident Report
1st Safety Car - Al Harthy is too late on the brakes going into the opening corner and wipes out himself, Evans and McShine.
2nd Safety Car - Kosir squeezes out Onder when the Turk attempted to pass on the outside sending both cars into the wall.

Since it is scheduled for next weekend you may submit your driver choices for Brazil. I'll hold off on opening strategies till A1 is uploaded.

The Philippines and Belarus are very happy with results and will retain the same drivers for Round 2.

Out of interest, is there any reason why drivers aren't pitting on the first lap the SC is called? It seems to somewhat dull the advantage of pitting under the SC as by the time they pit the field has already bunched up.

I'm using the old CART rules regarding pitting under yellow where pitlane is closed until the field is behind the safety car. Its far easier to simulate this way.

Brazil
Driver: Nelson Piquet, Jr
Qualifying Strategy -- Conservative
Race Strategy -- Use softs all the time, changing at laps 26 and 59
(If it rains, pit for wets as long as track gets wet and change back to a slick (hard) set when track dries)
Safety Car Reaction -- Pit only if tyres are close to degradation or the car is below the 15th place

South Africa
Driver: Adrian Zaugg
Qualifying Strategy -- Conservative
Race Strategy -- Start with soft tyres and pit for hards at lap 25
(If it rains, pit for wets as long as track gets wet and change back to a slick (hard) set when track dries)
Safety Car Reaction -- No reaction unless SC pits at least 4-5 laps before scheduled, then pit for hards

Singapore
Driver: Richard Bradley
Qualifying Strategy: Aggressive
Race Strategy -- Start with hard and pit at lap 39 for soft
