A1GP - Trial for new format in September. Post entries now.

Post by Samster »

Remember my attempt at running an A1 Grand Prix from 1950 up till the present day? And how that didn't quite pan out? Well this time I'm bringing it back for the present era. We will erase the old version from the record books and start afresh.

Rules

1. First and foremost, this version will feature a real-time schedule. Meaning that the schedule will take place on or close to the dates shown below as if it was in the real universe. This means that the season itself will not begin till the new year though there will be some test sessions to take part in before then. The idea behind this for me is that it will make the series easier for me to keep up with.

There will also be yearly venue rotations. Also some venues are left as TBA as I'll be holding a vote for these later on.

2016 Schedule
1. January 31 - South African A1 Grand Prix - Durban Street Circuit
2. February 21 - Brazilian A1 Grand Prix - Autódromo José Carlos Pace
3. March 13 - Mexican A1 Grand Prix - Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez
4. March 27 - United States A1 Grand Prix - Sonoma Raceway
5. April 10 - Canadian A1 Grand Prix - Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
6. May 1 - French A1 Grand Prix - Circuit Paul Ricard
7. May 15 - Italian A1 Grand Prix - Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari
8. May 29 - Belgian A1 Grand Prix - Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
9. June 12 - English A1 Grand Prix - Brands Hatch
10. June 26 - German A1 Grand Prix - Hockenheim
11. July 17 - Czech A1 Grand Prix - Masaryk Circuit
12. July 31 - Swedish A1 Grand Prix - Anderstorp Raceway
13. August 14 - Spanish A1 Grand Prix - Circuito de Jerez
14. August 28 - Turkish A1 Grand Prix - Istanbul Park
15. September 11 - Emirates A1 Grand Prix - Yas Marina Circuit
16. September 25 - Japanese A1 Grand Prix - Autopolis
17. October 9 - South Korean A1 Grand Prix - Korea International Circuit
18. October 23 - Australian A1 Grand Prix - Surfers Paradise
19. November 13 - Indian A1 Grand Prix - Buddh International Circuit
20. December 4 - Malaysian A1 Grand Prix - Sepang International Circuit

Venue Alternations
Round 2 and 3 - Brazil, Mexico and Argentina will share these two dates each missing one in every three seasons.
Round 8 - Belgium and Netherlands will alternate yearly.
Round 11 - Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary will alternate yearly.
Round 12 - Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland will alternate yearly.
Round 13 - Spain and Portugal will alternate yearly.
Round 14 - Turkey and Russia will alternate yearly.
Round 15 - U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain will alternate yearly.
Round 16 - South Korea and China will alternate yearly.
Round 19 - India and New Zealand will alternate yearly.
Round 20 - Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand will alternate yearly.

2. As this series takes place within the real universe, there will be date clashes with real universe series. For example a current Formula One driver would not be able to take part in an A1 Grand Prix that clashes with a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Drivers that are injured in real life also will not be able to take part here.

3. With a vast list of nations to choose from in this era, there will be three levels of competition with 26 nations each. A1, A2 and A3 Grand Prix featuring races of 300, 200 and 100 km respectively. The four test sessions held before the season begins will determine which nation will take part at which level. At the end of each season the bottom three nations of each level will be relegated and replaced with the top three nations of the level below.

4. As well as setting the fields for each level, the test sessions are also an opportunity to evaluate drivers for the upcoming season. Each of the four sessions will be held across three days and one driver can be used each day. That means you can test as many as 12 drivers across all the venues.

Test Venues.
1. November 24-26 Portimau, Portugal
Tuesday - DNK Kevin Magnussen
Wednesday - NZL Scott Dixon
Thursday - BRA Nelson Piquet Jr.

2. December 8-10 Dubai Autodrome, U.A.E.
Tuesday - AUS Daniel Ricciardo
Wednesday - FIN Kimi Raikkonen
Thursday - FIN Valtteri Bottas

3. January 5-7 Phillip Island, Australia
Tuesday - ESP Fernando Alonso
Wednesday - DEU Sebastian Vettel
Thursday - AUS Will Power

4. January 19-21 Circuit of the Americas, United States
Tuesday - ESP Fernando Alonso
Wednesday - DEU Sebastian Vettel
Thursday - AUS Will Power

So with the rules explained, all you need to do now is choose your nations and nominate your drivers for the first test venues by November 23rd. You will need to state whom will drive on which day. Drivers must be between the ages of 16-60 and not known to have retired from the sport. They must be non-fictional too of course.

The available nations are listed below. I have split them into three tiers based on the quality of their drivers. For now you must pick three nations each, one from each tier to keep everyone on a relatively even playing field.

Since entries seem to be dying down and there are still plenty of good nations left I shall allow you all to pick a fourth team from whichever tier you want. I would like all of the tier 1 nations to have an owner at least. You have until November 23rd to choose a fourth team if you wish. Anything remaining will be ran by myself until someone new wants them or will withdraw depending on the amount of drivers available to them.

You also need to nominate drivers you would like to drive for you during the Portimau test running between the 24th to 26th. State who you would like on each day. You can run the same driver for all three days or switch each day. Remember because this is right before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, any drivers competing in Formula 1 and its support races will be unavailable for this test venue.

Fisichella as far as I'm aware has never been associated with San Marino so he is ineligible. If you are struggling there is a list of drivers here. https://www.driverdb.com/countries/san-marino/

I may be wrong but Nissany and Zanardi I think are officially retired from racing now.

Am I ok for Suranovich? He's officially retired but I figured that was more to funding issues and he's young enough to make a comeback?
