Prepare to get confused, Samster. Sorry.

A1

Japan -- Kamui Kobayashi
Qualifying Strategy -- Conservative
Race Strategy (DRY) -- Hards, pit lap 47 for softs
Race Strategy (WET) -- Start wets. Pit lap 35 for more wets. If track dries before lap 23, pit softs, then 23 laps later for hards. If track dries lap 24-45, pit for hards and don't pit again. If track dries lap 46 on, pit softs.
If it rains in middle of race from dry, pit for wets. If pitting for wets before lap 38, pit for wets then pit again later for wets. After lap 38, just one set of wets. Then the strategy above applies
Safety Car Reaction -- Stop if four laps before scheduled.

A2

Thailand -- Alexander Albon
Qualifying Strategy -- Aggressive
Race Strategy (DRY) -- Start soft, pit lap 23 for more softs
Race Strategy (WET) -- Wet start. Pit lap 29 for more wets. If track dries anytime, pit for hards.
If track starts dry, goes wet, pit for wets. Before lap 9, pit for another set of wets 20 laps later. If not, wets all the way unless track dries, then apply as above.
Safety Car Reaction -- Stop if four laps before scheduled.

Indonesia -- Ananda Mikola
Qualifying Strategy -- Conservative
Race Strategy (DRY) -- Hards ALL THE WAY
Race Strategy (WET) -- See Thailand
Safety Car Reaction -- Stop if four laps before scheduled.

A3

Lebanon -- Joe Ghanem
Qualifying Strategy -- Softs
Race Strategy (DRY) -- Start soft, soft all the way
Race Strategy (WET) -- Wet start, wet all the way. If dries, use softs
If track starts dry but goes wet, pit for wets anytime.
Safety Car Reaction -- Stop if four laps before scheduled.

France -- Jean-Éric Vergne
Qualifying Strategy -- Aggressive
Race Strategy (dry) -- Start on softs, switch to hards on lap 27.
Race Strategy (wet) -- Start on wets, pit on lap 35.

If less than 30 laps remain when coming in for scheduled stop, put on new set of soft tyres instead of hard.
Weather Change Reaction (dry to wet) -- Switch to wets when rain starts and if it's expected to last at least 5 laps. Normal 35-lap wet weather strategy applies unless 5 laps or less remain on lap of scheduled stop.
Safety Car Reaction -- Stop if safety car comes out 5 laps before scheduled.

Russia -- Sergey Sirotkin
Same strategy as France, I already have a headache :P

Ireland -- Ralph Firman

Normal 25-lap soft tyre strategy applies unless 5 laps or less remain on lap of scheduled stop.

Jamaica -- Thomas Issa
Qualifying Strategy -- Aggressive

Post by Samster »

Time is up for HawkAussie, Klon and Andrew. Therefore your team's drivers have been chosen and you will be on bog standard strategies for the races.

Qualifying

Well the rain certainly threw up some interesting results. Only A3 was unaffected but A2 was affected by a light shower mid-way through which relented a little towards the end but the rest of the runners had to contend with a wet track.

But A1 was worst affected, the earliest runners had to deal with a still drying track from the previous shower but the track briefly dried out enough for a handful of well timed runners to attempt their laps on dry tires. But then the heavens really opened up as a thunderstorm passed by around midway through the runners. The storm was brief but this meant the track was left drying out again for the rest of the session.

As a reminder, every driver gets just one flying lap and from this meeting onwards will run their qualifying attempts in reverse championship order. This gave us some mixed up results from what we would usually expect to see. Worst affected was South Africa A2 pole-sitter Milos Pavlovic as the first shower came when he was about to start his lap on dries. But it was even worse for Salvador Duran as he was the unlucky A1 contender that was confronted with the thunderstorm while he was already out on dries.

And thus we saw three surprise pole-sitters. In A3 Turkish youngster Kaan Onder put together a great lap to take pole from Sergey Chukanov. In A2 it was Axcil Jefferies taking a shock pole as he fared best of those that ran before the first shower, Jonas Gelzinis lines up alongside. Finally in A1, Kevin Korjus took pole from Marco Sorenson as they were just about the only drivers who got to do their laps in bone dry conditions before the thunderstorm and only the top six drivers on the grid got to run with dry tires.

Re: A1GP 2016 - Brazil A3 Grand Prix Up

Post by Samster »

Despite the threat of rain, the A3 Grand Prix managed to get in a full dry race in under cloudy skies. However a thunderstorm is due to pass through around the time A2 is scheduled to start.

Of note is that the soft tires worked alot better than in South Africa.

Re: A1GP 2016 - Brazil GP Qualifying Up

Post by Samster »

A2 finally up, had to do this one bit by bit over the last few days. A1 should hopefully be up tomorrow evening or Thursday.

Brazilian A2 Grand Prix
https://www.docdroid.net/3divtR0/2-braz ... x.pdf.html

In the meantime I will open up details for Mexico so you may start making driver and strategy choices now.

A1 Grand Prix and Formula E will combine as a double header seeing as the latter decided to use part of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez track for their Mexico race. Since all of their track activity takes place on Saturday, our weekend schedule takes place around theirs with practice on Thursday and qualifying on Friday.

Race Distances
A1 Grand Prix - 70 laps (300km)
A2 Grand Prix - 47 laps (200km)
A3 Grand Prix - 24 laps (100km)

Strategy Details
Hards will last approximately 45 laps
Softs will last approximately 25 laps and will start of with a pace advantage over hards.

Note that the numbers shown represent the entire life cycle of a set of tires and will begin wearing out approximately halfway into that number.

Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez Weather Forecast
Thursday (Practice) - 15° Clouds and sun with a shower.
Friday (Qualifying) - 20° Partly sunny and warmer.
Sunday (Race) - 26° Mostly sunny and nice.

Clashing Series
Indycar (and associated 'Road to Indy' series) - St. Petersburg
NASCAR (Cup/Xfinity) - Phoenix
FIA European Rally Championship - Spain
GP2 Series - Barcelona Test

Formula E drivers will be allowed to compete as they will be at the same venue.

Deadline will be around a week from now.

Since the only one who may (?) have a clash is Evans, we will keep the drivers the same also.

Are the race reports really jumbled for anyone else? They are niegh impossible for me to read.

They came out fine for me when I followed the link I provided. Only issue for me was some of the gaps to the leaders came out positioned incorrectly for the final two laps. What part exactly was jumbled for you?

Yes Elfyn Evans is available again.

Zuber never actually had UAE citizenship, only a race license so he'd only get to race for Austria. And Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been retired from racing for over a decade. There are plenty of current drivers you could use, I'd suggest one of Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum, Khaled Al Qubaisi or Saeed Al Mehairi.
