Post by pi314159 »

Welcome to another season of alternate F1. I apologise for the infrequent running during the 1981 season, and hope to do better for 1982.

Please confirm your entries if you want to take part in this season. Teams that have not confirmed their participation by November 25 will be redistributed or shut down. To keep things fair for the new team owners, sponsor, driver and engine signing will only be opened on November 25. Building and/or upgrading your chassis can be done earlier, since it has no effect on other teams.

Rule changes and calendar will be announced shortly. If you have any good ideas for that, you can submit them here.

I'll continue, possibly with Theodore, but if nobody goes after McLaren then we'd like to conduct some kind of reverse take-over...since Project Four exist as a separate team, it could *sort of* work.

BMW will return, as an engine supplier at least. If any team is available for takeover, (cough March, cough) we would be interested.

I wish to withdraw from this series, since I just lost interest in it really.

I don't know what this means for Renault, but I'll leave it up to whoever wants to run it or up to pi if he wants to pull the plug on the team.

If you want to run a team, join the waiting list. While a BMW takeover of a team would make sense from a storyline point of view, if would be unfair to give you preferential treatment compared to those on the waiting list.

If we stick with the same chassis for this season are we allowed to build our new ones later in the season if we decide to do so. I'm thinking of seeing how we do with our 1981 chassis in order to save some money but I don't want to be stuck with it if we end up not making races.

Use Honda engines, for they are better than BRM's and cheaper (if you hire a Japanese driver).

Unless you sell those engines at a loss, I highly doubt that... :P

Well, the Honda engines need to be cheaper, significantly more powerful, and the loss of money from running a Japanese driver over using random pay drivers should be very small.
I'll probably just stick with BRM, they understand our way of doing business, and we are more or less becoming a BRM works team.

We'll be fine. It's Canon, non Kodak.

Added.

I'm currently trying to figure out a good way for engine manufacturers to earn money. My idea would be to give everyone apart from BRM (they're a joke engine anyway), around 2-3 million for 1982, since everyone is out of money, and introduce an achievements system to earn further cash, so they get a list of goals, and an amount of money they get for achieving these goals. I'd like some feedback from the people running engine manufacturers before introducing it.

It might be official in the next few weeks, the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft team from Niederzissen, West Germany, is reported to have submitted a bid to enter the 1982 Formula One Season. Erich Zakowski has built his team a name in german touring cars championships, culminating in huge success in the DRM with Ford Escorts and Capris. These achievements led Zakspeed to a strong relationship with Ford which could very well lead to the american giant supplying the newcomers with F1 engines. When asked about his possible F1 project, Zakowski said that he would not turn down an opportunity to join Formula One but would wait for the right time to enter. He also added that Ford and himself were looking to expand their cooperation to other series in the future, but most likely very soon. Some sources confirm that the Zakspeed F1 project is on the run, and in advanced progression. However, no reliable proof of this has appeared yet. The same sources claim that a F1 prototype has been built and tested at the Nürbürgring as early as in June this year. Again, no reliable proof came to us about this. With a few months to go before the beginning of the 1982 season, Formula 1's silly season is still far from over.

Yup, trying to enter with Zakspeed.
