Alt-F3000: The 1988 Season - Season over!
Re: Alt-F3000: The 1988 Season - Round 6: Pergusa
Forti would like to remove all wear from the Reynard 88D/7 and 5% wear from the Lola T87/50/1 as well as place the Cosworth DFY/13 into Bernd Schneider's car.

Bertaggia has been dragging himself along by his arse for too long now. He's sacked. We offer a contract to the following drivers in listed order;
1. Marco Apicella - 5K per race

Re: Alt-F3000: The 1988 Season - Round 7: Brands
Budgets will be sorted and posted tomorrow.
Furthermore, I'm looking for a successor to take alt-F3000 on for 1989 onward. I've thrown my hat into the ring to run an Indycar series for 2019 and beyond, and I cannot run three series, especially since I'll be starting my Master's in September.
If anyone is interested in taking on this series from next season, please feel free to drop me a PM stating what you'd like to do with the series, how you'd run it, et cetera. I've really enjoyed running this series, it's been really interesting to do, and so I want to make sure it's in good hands and that the gritty, late-80's feel remains in some capacity!

Re: Alt-F3000: The 1988 Season - Round 8 & News
Apologies for not keeping up with this, I've had other things around here and elsewhere to do. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I was looking to find someone else to take this series on for next season as I'll be doing a new Indycar series, but so far the search has been fruitless. Therefore, I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that it'll probably disappear.
So the way we can finish this is up to you.
a) I can carry on keeping track of budgets, wear and mileage, running the series as normal. The issue here is that it'll take a while, and I'd imagine a couple of people will have checked out now that they know it's not going to carry on.
b) I just take what we have now with scheduled drivers and engine partnerships, quickly finish the last three races and let whatever happens next with this series happen. It'll be rushed and disappoint those who were invested in this series (pahahah) but it's a means to an end.

Please, someone looking into starting a canon series, take over F3000!
Together with AltF1 and WTCM, it's the trio of series which will run into the 90's and 2000's. Writing history for feeder series is very important,

Re: Alt-F3000: The 1988 Season - Round 8 & News
It doesn't help there are no Alt F3000 carsets for rFactor...and that equipment limitations mean the grid would be 4 teams smaller than present if I were to take over. I'd like to, I think it would be good if F3000 would keep going, but I don't feel like I'm in a position personally to do so.

Re: Alt-F3000: The 1988 Season - Round 8 & News
That's all from the 1988 F3000 season, folks! The championship standings are here, and these confirm that Martin Donnelly is the '88 F3000 champion, whilst Eddie Jordan Racing won the teams' title.
As I have mentioned a few times, I will not be continuing this championship next season. Having declared interest in taking this on for 1989, Wizzie will now decide whether he's up for running it or not. Some of the more complex mechanics didn't quite fit, and created a bit too much work, so hopefully it's a lot more easy to work with next season.

I will offer to take it up if Wizzie does not, albeit in rFactor with a historically inaccurate carset and no race highlights. And definitely no more than 26 cars!

Damn, thought it would be JC's. Well, he's still probably getting an F1 drive anyway, and he won't be affected by the F3000 champion's curse (that is a thing, isn't it?). And I've won a canon championship!

The Spirit F3000 team's future has been called into doubt following the dismal results from drivers Bertrand Gachot and Jean-Denis Deletraz which left the team bottom of the standings and one of only two teams to fail to score a single point all year.
Spirit itself couldn't be reached for comment, but rumours within the paddock suggest the poor results have left the team's few sponsors unimpressed and unwilling to commit to a another year supporting the team.
More news as we get it.
No decision either way from me here, I'll see what happens with the plans for next year. Open to continuing though as F3000's basement team!

As has been mentioned, the Mad Uncle will be taking over F3000 from 1989 onwards. I'm currently working on ways to simplify the series will still retaining some challenge heading into the future. The reboot will continue to use GP2, and will move up to the full 28 car field for 1989.
