MRT would like to invite Blokkmonsta to our private test session instead, as we believe we'd be a good benchmark for you guys. We're running at the Nurburgring on October 2-4 and again on October 8-10

Alright, we will change our testing schedule to October 7-10. Our day schedules will stay the same.

PORE: Neuberg is free to talk
It seems that Mr.Alexander has finally decided to bite the dust with David Neuberg, now allowing him to talk to other teams for next season. "We can't keep him here. We are barely making it to every race right now and it's unfair to keep him at the back. He deserves to challenge once again for points and podiums", said Mr.Alexander. "Whilst he will remain a PORE driver for the remainder of this season, we will not be keeping him for next season. We will of course miss him terribly, and wish him all the success for the future. Nobody here will ever forget his podium a few years ago at Brands Hatch."

Any enquiries to Neuberg's services can be made at the twitter account @Alex_Race_Team

That's my twitter, I'm on there every day but once sporadically on here so it'll be easier to talk.

La Gazzetta dello Sport wrote:Miccoli defects to ARWS with Melrose Racing Team

In a shock move, F1 rookie Salvatore Miccoli has turned his back on Formula 1 after less than a year in the sport, moving across to the AutoReject World Series with current title contenders MRT BMW.

The young Italian's position on the grid looked somewhat precarious, following his current team DGN being put up for sale earlier in the year. While a consortium led by Teddy Yip Jr appear to be at an advanced stage in negotiations to acquire the team, Miccoli elected to secure his future as early as possible.

"I am sad to be saying farewell to Formula 1 so early, but I had to ensure I had the best balance between security and a competitive drive," explained the Pescara native. "I feel by moving to MRT, with its factory support from BMW, I have found a good balance."

Miccoli articulated further about his decision to ditch Formula 1, citing the lack of parity and opportunity for the drivers themselves to make an impact.

"The problem with F1 is there's no potential to make up for car deficiencies. The way the sport is structured means there's little opportunity from the driver's side to make the crucial difference against anyone but your own team-mate. If you aren't driving for Caterham, you can't win the title, which is a bit of a sad situation."

"Even so, maybe there is a small chance one team per season might be able to hold a candle to them, to upset their balance and try to take advantage. There are maybe another two or three teams in this position, but my agent sounded them out and didn't get a particularly positive response."

Having risen through the ranks in junior series, finishing runner up to current ARWS championship leader Terry Hawkin in AutoReject 3.5 (back then known as IFRC), it was something of a surprise to see him move to F1 instead of ARWS, and Miccoli addressed this point directly during the press conference.

"In a sense, by moving to ARWS I have ended up in the place I had expected to be in to start with. I've noticed how rarely drivers who start out at backmarkers in the top flight series manage to climb to a top drive. They tend to get a seat straight away either in the upper midfield, or at the very top. It's why I went to DGN instead - their programme looked strong, they looked like they'd be near the front in F1 in 2018, and so it turned out to be."

"This is why the MRT offer was so tempting, and why I eventually accepted. They are the main force taking the fight to Fusion this year. They have been in a good position for several years now. They are a top team. One I could potentially fight for the championship in. I didn't think I could get myself into that position in F1, because the only seat that allows for it is Caterham."

Miccoli's ARWS career looks set to kick off even earlier than 2019, with his DGN team allowing him the freedom to test elsewhere while their own future looks so uncertain. With MRT set to test in the coming weeks, and a noticeably vacant slot alongside Alberto Cara in their plans, insiders suggest this spot is being kept free for the Italian, pending his contract being deposited with the ARWS commission and ratified.

Dagnall: Backmarkers robbed me of win

Mark Dagnall was quite annoyed at the post-race press conference despite having finished 2nd at the South African Grand Prix. Despite having to change his front wing at the end of first lap, the British triple champion drove a great race from the back to finish just 4.7 seconds shy of winner Alberto Cara, but Dagnall believed he could have achieved more if it hadn't been for having trouble lapping a few drivers; "to put it simply, Fäkkinen and Katayama took away my chances of winning the race when I was lapping them, specially the first. They must think they are very good, but the truth is you're not when you finish several laps down", asked if this is a thing that should be addressed; "I don't believe there's much we can do to fix it; you cannot change their brains, can you?". With this result, Dagnall now sits 5th in the standings with 31 points

Italian Formula 2 driver Gianluigi Pazzini will finally make his ARWS debut in 2019, after signing a 1 year deal with Rob Lomas Racing. The F2RWRS race winner currently lies inside the top 10 in the recently revamped Formula 2 championship with the Trueba Junior Team. The Italian has been part of the MRT Junior Team program for a number of seasons, and has previously testing for the ARWS squad on a number of occasions.

Pazzini was excited to finally get an opportunity in the ARWS with the Lomas team.

"Finally I can get to drive an ARWS car in a race situation, and I cannot thank Rob enough for signing me on." said Gianluigi. "It's been a difficult road, but now I can prove that I belong at this level, and score some good results for myself and the team."

With many seats on the grid starting to fill up, Rob Lomas Racing are yet to announce who will partner Pazzini at the team next year.

The Rumour Mill wrote:Kazama's drive at risk?

After a pair of dismal performances at Fusion Infiniti, it seems that some doubts have emerged over Tomo Kazama's drive with the team in 2019.

In her races thus far, Kazama has earned a one-race ban at Monaco and hampered her own progress at Sao Paolo by making contact with Bastiaan van Nieuwenhuijzen in the opening stages of the grand prix.

Jacques Couteau's assertion that her contract for following seasons is performance-based means that the mercurial Japanese driver will have to up her game significantly over the last three races. A pair of road circuit venues should help Kazama's cause, especially since one is her home race at Fuji before the famously grueling finale at Macau. It is expected that a podium finish in any of the final three races will ensure Kazama remains within the team.

After scoring back-to-back wins at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Melrose Racing Team team principle Pierre Depault has stated the team believes they now have a shot at both AutoReject World Series titles in 2018. An incredible last-gasp win for Phillippe Nicolas over the faltering Jones of Diego Alvarez Torrente has put his title campaign back on track, just a few weeks after Alberto Cara scored an emphatic victory in South Africa.

The recent run of form has come on the back of a horror run for championship leader Terry Hawkin. The British rookie has failed to score points in the last three races, and now is just 2 points ahead of MRT's Cara.

"Three races ago, we knew we needed some luck to go our way to have a shot," admitted Depault. "We stuck at it however, and as we've seen in the last month, you just never know with this sport. Some said it was impossible, but we're now dreaming the impossible dream, and we're well on track to do MRT, BMW and all our sponsors proud this year. We want te no. 1 on the side of the car next year, and we'll be going absolutely flat out for it."

As the ARWS paddock moves on to the next weekend, MRT have a solid 21 point lead in the constructors' championship ahead of Fusion. Their two drivers Cara and Nicolas meanwhile still lie 2nd and 3rd behind Hawkin.

AutoFiction wrote:ARWS WRAP: Early Shower for Marko?

The pressure of driving for his career has been eating at NRE's Marko Jantscher for the last few weekends, and it finally reached a head at the Brazilian Grand Prix. After a silly incident between him and Blokkmonsta's Gregor Pascal put the Swiss driver out of the race, the ARWS stewards were quick to bench him for next weekend's Argentine Grand Prix. With NRE having been highly disappointed in the Austrian rookie's run as of late, this could be the excuse the team needs to fire him altogether.

The opening provides the perfect opportunity for the team to evaluate potential candidates for 2019 and beyond. Revolution refugee Andrej Kremnicky has been linked to the seat after missing out on a potential MRT drive, and is expected to jump in the seat for Argentina. Another potential candidate that has been thrown around is Jean-Vincent Albertini, who has been out of an ARWS drive since June's British Grand Prix. Many felt he was unfairly benched instead of the under-performing Shinobu Katayama, and brings considerable backing from his family's shipbuilding company. While he currently has a Formula E contract for next year with Matt Neal's National Academy, many feel the team is simply a waste of his time and talents, and the Monegasque driver is reportedly looking and returning to the ARWS as soon as possible.

ARWS WRAP: Sayonara Kamaha?

After another shockingly bad perforamce from Kamaha Motorsport at the Brazilian Grand Prix, it's been reported that the team has lost their works Yamaha contract for 2019 and beyond effective immediately. A representative of Yamaha has told AutoFiction that they've run out of patience with team owner Barri Mori, having found him extremely hard to work with and having repeatedly failed to deliver on promised performance improvements over the course of the year.

In its place, it's believed that Yamaha is close to buying out the customer Simpson team from Dave Simpson. The Australian squad has had a solid year, with drivers Jean-Luc Schiller and Alexey Buyvolov picking up a number of points finishes over the course of 2018. The buyout would be a huge boost for the Simpson squad as well, as they have struggled with finding sponsorship to fill the hole left by the shock defection of Renault and Dacia to upstarts Kjellerup. An announcement is expected to be made before the Japanese Grand Prix in Fuji.

ARWS WRAP: Adelaide, Phoenix, Sao Paulo heading into the Twilight Zone

As the rival Formula One series continues their recovery from the dark days of the late 00s-early 10s, the AutoReject Commission has been looking at ways to spice up the show for fans. AutoFiction were the first to report the Commission considering the long-awaited return of turbo-charged and super-charged engines to the ARWS, and we can now also reveal the Commission is also looking at night racing for 2019.

It's believed that three races have been earmarked as potential candiates for night racing next season. The promoters of the Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide are very keen on the idea, and look set to be the first to switch for 2019. Phoenix and Sao Paulo are also looking at potential night races next season, bringing the total number up to three. With the ARWS calendar for 2019 expected to be announced in the coming weeks, a clearer picture of the Commission's future path will begin to emerge.

ARWS WRAP: The Austro-Roman Empire - An unholy union?

Ever since his season-ending accident in Belgium, it has all been quiet on the Mestolio front in regards to his future. However, that may be all set to change as a flurry of announcements are expected to be made in the coming weeks. As many seats start to fill up, others have been opened, and one such seat is the second Union Saver Developments drive.

Japanese rookie Naoki Shinjo has been a revelation this year for USD. The Formula Nippon frontrunner has scored 2 points so far, and shown competitive form on a number of occasions. The second seat has been a continual bugbear for the team however, as Jari Kekkonen proved to be a waste of everyone's time for the first half of the year. After his long-overdue departure, Italian paydriver Marco Bizzarri was drafted in, and has arguably failed to be an improvement. The team has made their displeasure with the situation well-known, and with Mestolio on the market desperately looking for a new home 2019, it could be a marriage that would be of benefit to both parties.

At the current rate of things, the whole team's survival is in jeopardy. We need to improve our form a lot, else we'll be waving goodbye to ARWS in the not too distant future.

As for Jantscher's replacement, we're going to give Martin McFry the nod. He's the most logical choice given that he has half a season's worth experience from the car already, and we need his excellent one-lap pace to ensure we won't have to stick around in prequalifying for too long.

Martin McFry will stand in for Jantscher, if it's OK with dr-baker. We'll also set our Mechanical Sympathy level to 4.

While you're on the subject of driver contracts, Voeckler would like to renew Pippa Mann as their test/reserve for next season.

Yeah, why not!

Douglas Mann and Ben Fleet are also still available as occasional substitute stand-in roles, because they know that it's unlikely they'll get anything better now.

With 3 races yet to run in the ARWS' 2018 season, Union Saver Developments owner, Karl Lichter Shultz spoke about the current affairs inside the Austrian team.
"We've been a little behind the other teams, I have to concede. Union Saver has been more inmersed in the junior formulae program, the stillborn F-E project and the issues with GT-R/Rolex series, and that took some of our time and resources from the ARWS team. Nevertheless, everything is going according to plan. The car is solid, and the work around it has pay in the long runs. Our partnership with Daihatsu is also going well, playing the long game as the engine updates will grant us the speed needed to battle for wins. Maybe not now, but for the upcoming new season. "

Asked about the plans for the second seat for the upcoming 2019 season, Shultz just say "we'll see the market, and contrary to the beggining of this year, we have an idea of what we need."

Naoki Shinjo wrote
Monaco and South Africa were a question of setting. The layout should've worked with our lack of straight speed, but still battled to get into the grid. In Brazil, going back to Pre-Q was a hassle, but the rain helped us to get things clear. Even Marco (Bizzarri) showed that the chassis is a fine machine. Sadly, we suffered in dry conditions again. These 3 races were almost the same idea: preserve the car, win the battle of attrition and get to the flag. 3 consecutive top tens help the cause.

After I got nerfed at the start, I dropped back into the pack, and did my best to get back to the front. Some problems for others helped for sure, but we were there, back where we needed to be, but the transmission just seized up on me and that was it, I can't go any further.

Okay, you can maybe say there is a positive in how fast the car was today - you just have to look at how fast Nick [Nurmester] was in the other car - but we already knew this. It doesn't make up for losing such a great chance for another win.

John Bean wrote:This is the best it's ever been! The car felt much better suited to my style today. More agile, so more confidence to go up to the walls without worrying the car will snap oversteer or understeer into the wall with a lack of grip like I feel sometimes. This is good progress from my side and the team's side for sure.

I'm really pleased for the team, that we were able to secure our best result not only for the season, but the whole history of the team! I feel really proud of how we did today, and for the first time all season really happy with how I did. I hope this is the turning of a corner, that we can build on this and create something meaningful long term from it.

Marco Bizzarri wrote:The car is very different in behaviour from the Revolution. The chassis is not so stable, the output isn't totally consistent even when the setup stays the same, so I'm struggling a bit to get it working to what I need. For sure it's a tough learning curve, I try, but so far not good. I must improve.

AMuS wrote:Former IBR team principal Linari to join MRT as adviser?

Rumours from Cologne have suggested the controversial ARWS figure Alessandro Linari is on the verge of joining Daniel Melrose as a senior figure at MRT-BMW.

The duo have become more closely aligned than ever recently, as the Scotalian was recently appointed as director of the Tropican Motorsport Federation, the body tasked with developing junior talent from the tiny banana republic.

Given MRT's decision to build their team around Tropican megastar Alberto Cara, the news comes as little surprise, and the talks appear a mere formality to appease the Bavarian stakeholders in the organisation. It is also more than coincidental timing, considering Linari's long term ban from the ARWS paddock is due to expire at the end of the current season.

Blokkmonsta Motorsport may be seeking a different engine to power their cars for ARWS in 2019. Blokkmonsta officials have been spotted both at the offices of PURE-Hart and at the garage of Yamaha.

Holden's 2018 season faced numerous setbacks, with their ARWS budget being cut to focus on their Formula One operation the engine have been consistently behind other powerplants in terms of performance. The team's main customers, Rosenforth, collapsed partway through the season, the team only having enough money to hire one driver.

Following his podium in Brazil, and having just missed out on victory, Diego Alvarez Torrente has left team boss Sammy Jones a happy man as the British team leapfrogged Voeckler in the standings and remain just one point behind young upstarts Kjellerup.

"Let's make one thing absolutely clear," Jones told reporters, "can anyone tell me the number of teams using Ford engines this year? Exactly. No-one wants them, no-one has considered them, and we have been required to make them work through honouring our contract. Diego and Mark have done bloody well this year with a very much less than optimal package. It's unfortunate that yet again the series has devolved into a championship decided by which engine is in the back of your car. It was the same when there were a select few teams with turbos. We were the top non-turbo team back then, and I have every confidence we'll take the fight to the better-equipped teams this season and beyond. Diego's podium at the last race is a perfect example of that, the race performance was superb."

Jones added that the team's aim is to now press on after back-to-back good races. With three to go, the competition for third-best team behind the dominant Fusion and MRT teams remains keenly contested with just five points separating Kjellerup in third and Voeckler in fifth, with Jones the meat in the sandwich.

On a completely unrelated note we are STILL waiting for the ARWS comission to respond to our complaint we made several races ago and clarify driver behaviour.

On another note with the little money we have left we are going testing in Suzuka after the Argentinian GP with Akira Yamamura.

According to local reports, ARWS drivers Alexey Buyvolov and Tomo Kazama were involved in a skirmish in a Buenos Aires party location. A YouTube video uploaded by a random club visitor shows Kazama first verbally assaulting the Russian driver about their incident at the race earlier in the day.

After Buyvolov refuses to address Kazama's insults, the Japanese driver responds by throwing a plastic bottle at Alexey's head. This causes two men accompanying the Simpson driver to attack Kazama viciously. The video ends at that point, but sources confirm that Kazama suffered a mild concussion and lost four teeth in the confrontation.

Neither Fusion Motorsports, Best In The World nor Tomo Kazama herself were available for comment. With ARWS commissioner Daniel Prieto wanting ARWS's image as series of brutes to disappear into the annals of history, her actions could very well spell the end for Kazama's ARWS career.

According to an insider at the team, Pierre Depault is currently in negotiation with Best In The World to have Du Lon, wife of ARWS race winner and entrepreneur Kay Lon, drive the upcoming ARWS race at Fuji Speedway, replacing the banned Alberto Cara for the next Grand Prix weekend.

The German company and Chinese sponsors are apparentely willing to pay Melrose Racing Team a very considerable sum of money for this deal. Du Lon has not driven in a car race since becoming pregnant and marrying Lon. She gave birth to fraternal twins Sammy and Jenny on August 13 this year.

Alberto Cara wrote:I have failed my team, I have failed my country and I have failed my sponsors. There is no apology for not seeing my competitor whilst rejoining the circuit and I am thankful he is uninjured.

Kay Lon wrote:Clearly this is a day of mixed feelings for me and Best In The World. Our investment into Kamaha was rewarded, Akira Yamamura showing his amazing talent. I said I and my group turned Kamaha around and I meant it. Our personnel will make Kamaha the kind of elite team it was when I was driving for them, sooner or later. On the other hand, I am afraid my former teammate has gone kind of insane: first Alexey runs into Tomo, then he takes out Alberto, the goddamned race leader, like a jackass. Then the stewards have the gall to ban Cara a race, effectively ending the championship race, because he nearly got killed by a Russian. That is the kind of stewardship I would expect in Formula One, not a supposed "better" series.

Autosport wrote:Joy as Yamamura gets podium
After a tough couple of races, where members of the press were stating that Yamaha would dump Kamaha and Akira Yamamura struggled with an ill handling car, it all came together when Akira Yamamura drove a steady race to bring the car home 3rd after engine retirements and mistakes took a point to a podium. The podium takes Kamaha to 7th in the constructors championship and Barii Mori, Akira Yamamura and even Daniel Melville were celebrating after the race with the team. Although Kamaha have failed to score any other points, the two podiums have shown that the team can hold it together to get some major points.

Barii Mori said "It was an amazing race, retirements all over the place, we knew that Yamamura had some pace as drivers behind him could not pass him on the straights due to the speed the Yamaha engine had, but the chassis did struggle on the corners. We knew we had Diego Álvarez Torrente beat so we could get a point but once the leaders started to overrev their engines and go nuts, we knew a podium could be ours and we told Akira to drive slower, keep the engine revs down and concentrate so he did not spin off and he delivered getting our second podium. Daniel Melville was unlucky but caught the slippery patch that got most of the top drivers too. We go to the next two races with some nice upgrades in the pipeline and hoping to keep our 7th in the constructors but we hope that Akira can score more points to maybe get him in the top 10. Congratulations to Mecha as well for getting a lucky but well deserved 6th from a steady drive from John Bean."

Shinobu Katayama slams Venturi
After being told her services were not required next year, after another race where the car struggle on the track for grip and when a retirement comes from a mechanical failure, Shinobu Katayama slammed the teams management, Shinobu said "Arrrgh another race where we struggled for grip, another race where I could have scored points and another race I retire from a mechanical failure, Venturi better have a plan for next year or they are going to be in Pre Qualifying for a long time. I think I have given Venturi everything I have and I got nothing in return, when I have looked like getting points the car has broken, I am sick of it and I hope I find a better team next year.", she also weighed in on Tomo Kazama driving for Fusion, "I can not see why that bitch got the drive, she won a lucky win with Kamaha but has been rubbish even since, granted I made some poor career choices but I believe in equal machinery I could lap that bitch out of the park, do not forget I was one of the first drivers to get a hat trick of pole, win and fastest lap when I drove for Sunshine before the portugese idiots messed up the team big time.", on hearing Cara being banned, "I will not deny or confirm that my management were on the phone to MRT quick time.". Venturi declined to return our phone calls saying "We fart in your general direction", with Fusion and MRT not responding to our calls at all.

He did not need to push, he was so far in the lead he was in Uruguay. And then he crashed. Four races in a row I've had to see this, and it has to stop. We, as a collective, have proven that we don't deserve to win this. Whether it is down to naivety or simply the fact that we are not champions and we are not making the most of this. We lose together.

We're pleased to see the commission take action on Buyvolov, he made a big error and it cost us the other car. Tomo is getting better, I think perhaps she responded well to our conversation in the office the other day. Perhaps she was complacent at Tassie, I don't know, but I told her she needs to work hard. This is the same for Terry.

As a short note, I should add that Biscione's stream was lagging about a second behind mine, so if you hear me talk about something inhumanly quickly after it happens, there's why :P
