Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - 2015 Austria

by Shizuka
based on the assumption that, at any moment in time, there is a non-zero probability that even the slowest, most inexperienced and least reliable of underdogs might win the race. That under every rock, there might be a gold nugget. This is the award for that first podium that we all celebrate, for the overtake no-one was expecting, for Ericsson's first win. This is the award, in short, for the driver or team that makes you go "Woah! Where did THAT come from?!".

Just remember: this is a feel-good award, that will focus on nothing but track action.
Usual rules: everyone gets two votes. First vote is worth 10 points, the second 6.

Post your results until June 26.

1. Hulkenberg
2. Massa - even though it was by default of Vettel, Raikkonen and Bottas failing, I wouldn't have thought he could manage a podium here.

1. Nico Hülkenberg: His best drive this season. He seems to have bounced back after a few weaker races.
2. Daniel Ricciardo: Scored just one point but even that was more than I expected from Red Bull.

1. Reverend Maldonado -- How he saved that wiggle behind Verstappen I have no idea.

2. Felipe Massa -- Expected a Vettel podium, got a Massa one. Enough for IIDOTR.

1. Hülk - Nice race from him. Didn't think he'd be that good a week after not only participating in a 24 Hour race at Le Mans, but winning it as well. Solid weekend.

2. Maldonado - DAT CAR CONTROL

1) Pastor Maldonado: One of the softer compound gamblers, his charge was as awesome as his spark-save during his duel against Verstappen.

2)Force India: Kudos for both cars. Hulk made sure that his victory on the 24 Hours of Le Mans wasn't a fluke, while Checo gamble with the softer compound to make it to the scoreboard.

Honorable Mentions to Felipe Massa (solid drive) and Daniel Ricciardo (way better than expected for RB)

The Clash of the Titans Award goes to Pastor Maldonado: risky, sparky and hold it to make Mad Max fail the turn one braking zone.

Nico Hulkenberg: It feels that I almost always mention the guy who was "best of the rest" after the top three teams and this time it´s no differend with Hulk getting back on form after few quiet races.

Felipe Massa: Much like Bottas has done in few races, he managed to keep Ferrari behind him after getting ahead thanks to Ferrari´s mistake.

Honorable Mention:
Pastor Maldonado: Solid race and two nice saves but he looked like accident waiting to happen (even if it never did) which drops him to just honorable mention in my eyes.

1. Pastor Maldonado
Made his way past many of his midfield rivals to secure a good result from a grid spot outside the points paying places. Also, that save, damn...

2. Nico Hülkenberg
Generally a better result than we've been seeing from him recently, although most of this was down to his quali performance, rather than having to work his way through competitors in the race. He started near the sharp end of the field and cemeted his position there, in contrast to Maldonado's race.

1. Hulkenberg - Continues to impress after what has already been an impressive couple of weeks.
2. Massa - good job with defending his position against a faster car and getting a podium. Hopefully this may signal a power shift between Williams and Ferrari.

Honourable mention to Maldonado, after another really good weekend with some awesome dicing (and saves! Those saves!).

Force India -probably the teams best performance in a few races

1. Massa: Very good defense from the Ferrari to take a well deserved podium.

2. Hulkenburg: Qualified well, and finished well. The icing on the cake after his Le Mans win.

Honorable Mentions:

Maldonado: Almost lost it a couple of times, but still put in a good result.

Riccardo: Made the most ground after that penalty.

Massa - Strange to think of the little chap being an F1 veteran in the autumn years of his career. Great to see him get a deserved podium.
Maldonado - He'll probably be useless next time out but yesterday he rocked the 'ring.

1. Hulkenberg - very nice result for Force India and he beat Perez by some distance.
2. Massa - 3rd place seemed given to him, but he had to fight for it in the end and did that very well.

Honorable mention for Maldonado for his great car control in the battle with Verstappen, but the 7th place was not that spectacular and Grosjean would have been in front of him if he hadn't retired.

1. The Hulk. Great all weekend and soundly beat Perez.
2. Massa, for being able to keep Vettel behind in a clearly superior Ferrari.

I really should update the overall leaderboard as well shouldn't I...

It's alright, I was busy with music and at least he got his chance to vote too :P And it didn't change the end results either...

Hülkenberg - 172
Maldonado - 140
Massa - 78
Force India - 18
Ricciardo - 12
Reliability - 6

Then I'd have to owe the forum so much money that we could even launch a F1 team outright! :D

According to his profile, the last time he was logged in was just before the original forums went offline. He still posts on the GTPlanet forums though. Jocke1 posts over there these days too, as far as I know.

Wow, was it as long ago as that? I still remember his attempted coup-d'etat over last year's ROTY.
