As discussed in the PMMF Planning Thread, I am taking control of the Alt-F1 canon in the late 80s and thereon with a proper game. Before you enter, please be aware of the following: This game serves the narrative almost as much as it serves the purpose of having fun. Having permanent success with a backmarker in this game is going to be extremely challenging.

1987 Formula 1 Season Preview - The Edge Of Heaven

1986 was the year of Williams, the line-up of Guillaume Gauthier and Nigel Mansell enabled the British team to secure both the world's drivers and world's constructors championships. However, the lineup did not survive the off-season. With 13 other teams looking to dethrone Williams-Honda, who is closest to Formula 1 heaven?

Rule Changes:
- To both increase the quality of the grid and to make racing more safe, the number of cars that qualify for a race has been decreased from 30 to 26. With 28 cars entered for the season, that means two cars will not qualify each weekend.
- From 1987 on, all F1 teams must enter two cars in all race weekends of the F1 season.
- Mid-race refueling will be permitted to add an element of excitement to the race.
- Tyres will exclusively be supplied by Goodyear.
- A mandatory pop-off valve will be added to all turbo-powered cars which restricts boost to 4.0 bar to limit engine power.
- The points system was changed back to 9-6-4-3-2-1, with the 11 best results counting towards the championship.

They were in real-life, but since Megatron sounds a like a shitty cartoon villain, there will be no Megatron in any series I am in charge of.

After all pay driver messages have been sent (please let me know if somehow the forum PM failed to arrive), we can now sign some drivers. For those of you who are or were with "Alternate Formula 1 - The Current Era" the system will not be unfamiliar to you: basically you pick drivers and the gods of RNG decide in case of a real-life driver and the users decide for their fictional drivers.

Any F1 driver is entitled to a minimum wage of DM 200,000 per year. You may choose how long your driver contracts are (in number of races (please note that the 1987 season has 16 races as will the following seasons)).

Real-life F1 drivers that have not yet debuted by 1987 may not be hired earlier than one year before their first RL full season (e.g. Ralf Schumacher may not be hired before 1996). Obvious exceptions (e.g. a driver missing one or two races of their first RL season) will be accounted for. A driver that never had a full F1 season is excluded from this rule.

In addition, you may add clauses of all types to the contract. Obviously, drivers won't like clauses that could potentially hurt them. Furthermore, clauses that make the wage of a driver fully or partially conditional are banned.

Your team's budget must be >=0 after signing drivers and receiving the appropriate sponsorship money. Due to chassis and engine performance being predetermined for the first season of this game, your current budget serves solely for the purpose of hiring drivers.

Alright, please fill out this until Sunday, May 3 (10:00 p.m. CEST) and post it in this thread for real-life drivers - make sure you have enough options, any team that does not have a driver after the RNGs will be assigned a driver by me and trust me, that will not be pretty:

Senegalese driver Mohammed Siki would like to throw his hat into the ring for a Formula One drive. He has competed in Formula 3000 for 2 seasons now, winning a race in 1986. As an offspring of a wealthy trading family, he also can bring some minor sponsorship (not that it'll actually affect your budget, but let's not let that get in the way of some storyline)
