Driver Market

Post by Klon »

With all the cars ready, we can now sign some drivers. For those of you who are still with this game from 2014, the system will not be unfamiliar to you. Basically you pick drivers and the gods of RNG decide in case of a real-life driver and the users decide for their fictional drivers.

Remember that drivers do not provide individual sponsorship anymore. Any F1 driver is now entitled to a minimum wage of €1,000,000 per year. Furthermore, drivers who have not taken part in a F1 race so far may not earn more than €12,000,000 a year.

In exchange for these additional limitations, you may now choose how long your driver contracts are (you can offer either years or a fixed number of races (please note that a season has 38 races)). To give you an idea how drivers think: most prefer the following order: long well-paid contracts > short well-paid contracts > short badly-paid contracts > long badly-paid contracts. Please write the offered wage for a full year though, even if the contract itself is shorter.

In addition, you may now add clauses of all types to the contract. Obviously, drivers won't like clauses that could potentially hurt them. Also, clauses that make the wage of a driver fully or partially conditional are banned. The minimum wage applies to Friday testers as well.

From 2014 on, you may exchange one chassis upgrade for a Friday tester. Since this caused some confusion last year, I will emphasise this point from the start.
The Friday tester must have taken part in a F1 race before.
Signing a Friday tester will give your chassis a random grip increase of 50-150 points and allows you to replace your driver mid-weekend in case of injuries or bans.

Your team's budget must be >=0 after signing drivers, after sponsorship money has been added. FOM has unofficially informed the teams that they will pay out €2,000,000 to any team signing a F1RWRS driver that took part in races of the 2014 F1RWRS season for at least 20 races.

Alright, please fill out this until Monday, September 1 (7 p.m. CEST) and post it in this thread for real-life drivers - please only offer wages that are rounded up to a million:

Please note that drivers who are already under contract are mentioned on the wiki and have been already accounted for with the following notes:
- Vitaly Petrov has a contract for 2015, but has declared he will not fulfill his contract unless his wage is raised to €5,000,000, given as he has proven to be in the league of James James Davies, who earns significantly more money.
- Jeroen Krautmeir has a contract for 2015 and decided to use his administrative power to raise his wage to €4,000,000.
- Jacques Villeneuve has a contract for 2015, but decided to "retire" from F1 racing, only taking part in the Canadian Grands Prix.

Unfortunately no, since your budget is dried up. The only thing you could afford would be switching Senna and Lynn around.

Since the start of 2014, driver sponsorship has been dropped from the series. All drivers must recieve a minimum of 1 million in wages.

Since these are the two Brabham draftees, they will bring us 10 million, as Klon stated so.

Wizzie wrote:As your engine supplier for 2015, Mercedes request that Brabham sign our young driver Nico Muller on a one year deal

Very well, but you must have stated that before the deal is signed. As a matter of fact Brabham is not a baby-sitter team, but a strong title challenger, so you should ask Stefan or some other team to do so if they wish. If we are to try Muller, we insist on 10 million cash (or as engine price reduction) and "fire if not performing well" clause (same conditions as to de Vries and Frijns).

This. Just think of it like Esteban Gutierrez; Telmex themselves directly pay into the team, and Gutierrez recieves a salary from the team. The driver never actually gives money to the team.

Mercedes will pay for Muller's wages ($2 million on a one year deal) but no more than that. We also request that any performance clause be removed, otherwise we will seriously reconsider supplying Brabham with engines for 2016 and beyond

And you announce that AFTER driver singings process? We are terribly sorry, but no way we change our position. If Mercedes are not willing to work with us next year - let it be so. We believe we can find another engine manufacturer that matches our vision and works with us as a partner, not in a master-slave relation.

This should act as a call to arms. Let's ransack the Mercedes factory and burn those heretics to the ground! We shall no longer tolerate their attempts of oppression! We shall be FREE!

2015 Marlboro Bahrain Grand Prix I - Race

2015 Marlboro Bahrain Grand Prix I - Race
Image

Penalty Points after the race:
#14 - Romain Grosjean - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #7 (Sebastién Bourdais), car #25 (Jenson Button), car #26 (Alex Lynn) and car #73 (Jeroen Krautmeir))
#74 - Felipe Massa - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #79 (Robert Kubica))

-- Positives --
Fernando Alonso - thirty points are the best possible start to the season.

Sebastian Vettel - great start to his Caterham campaign, earning a podium.

Red Bull-Hyundai - they sure are back as a competitive team, having speed to make up for first-lap incidents.

Alexandre Voeckler - if you score big after a year off, you earn the INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE.

Robin Frijns - overcame practice and qualifying issues to score points in his first F1 race.

-- Negatives --
McLaren-Hyundai - were not able to make their testing times mean much today.

Evgeny Restov - the "hero of Ferrari" sure was outperformed by his new team mate, and a silly mistake did not help matters.

Villeneuve-Ferrari - not their greatest showing, they must hope for better things down the road.

Mercedes - their works team fared horrible and their customer teams suffered from exploding engines, that's a REJECT OF THE RACE award.

Dave Cassidy - couldn't win the race in the first laps, but sure was able to lose it.

Penalty Points after the race:
#14 - Romain Grosjean - 5
#74 - Felipe Massa - 10 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #33 (Kevin Magnussen))

-- Positives --
Dave Cassidy - do not let that small lead fool you, he had this race under control.

Jenson Button - great drive from the Brit, this podium is gonna help his team for sure.

Jeroen Krautmeir - an INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE for pushing the Mercedes to levels not believed possible.

McLaren-Hyundai - they turned around their miserable performance from yesterday.

Daniil Kwjat - after Vettel's podium, Caterham expects more, but his drive was still good, being there when the chance presented itself.

-- Negatives --
Felipe Massa - because of him, Mercedes are the first team to lose points in the WCC.

Sebastian Vettel - after yesterday's podium, he was ludicrously uncompetitive.

Nico Rosberg - great comeback undone by a miserable spin, earning Rosberg the REJECT OF THE RACE award.

Mikhail Aleshin - you know you lack grip if you cannot pass a F1 car with no nose.

Alexandre Voeckler - inspired drive yesterday turns into painful and avoidable accident today.
