I don't understand what you mean by this 'bolded' stuff. You mean I have three updates sitting in my team's possessions, but none of them are actually active? How do I swich them on?!

Considering the new cars for next year, Ember racing will not be investing in upgrades or new chassis (unless one gets written off of course!)

Few new drivers had dramatic moments in the opening qualifying for GP2 Series. Vitaly Petrov spun off on his first lap while Nico Hülkenberg crashed mid-session. Timo Glock also ended his session early after mistake, but not damaging his car.

Bruno Senna suffered a mechanical issue and had to park his car beside the racetrack.

Qualifying itself started with Glock setting the pace in the first ten minutes. Andreas Zuber answered soon with same time as Glock. That time seemed tough to beat but then Andre Lotterer moved on top. In the end several drivers improved and it was Paul di Resta who ended on top of the timesheet, claiming his first pole position.

About overtakings, only those happening in top 10 are listed.

Lap 1: The front row got away quickly and the whole field managed to get through the first corner without any incident. di Resta kept the lead there but later on the first lap Lotterer managed to get past. The big loser was Glock who dropped down to 8th and later to 9th as Kovalainen overtook him.

Lotterer, di Resta, Albuquerque, di Grassi, Hülkenberg, Zuber, Kovalainen, Kerr, Glock, Matsuda, Sutil, Buemi, van der Garde, Turvey, Piquet Jr., Danielsson, Niemelä, Senna, Yoshimoto, Grosjean, Jarvis, Philippe, Pagenaud, Teixeira, Petrov, Valerio.

Lap 2: Glock overtakes Kerr and Sutil overtakes Matsuda.

Jarvis set the early pace, with him being only driver to go under 1'27 during the first ten minutes. The time was strong enough for pole, as nobody could beat it later in the session. His team-mate Turvey was closest, four thousands of seconds from it. Otherwise the field was as close as usual. Only Junior Reject Motorsport guys were further than a second behind the polesitter.

Giedo van der Garde suffered mechanical failure early and had to settle for 22nd position.

Started simulating the race an hour or so ago. I came to conclusion that for the first time in the series history, I need mid-race tactical calls from the team bosses. Normally I have to analyze the race lap-by-lap on pit calls knowing the gaps. The normal race would take way too long if calls were made by team owners.

The situation:
A total of six cars was involved in the startline incident. This causes safety car to stay until lap 7. On lap 6 it's possible to make pit stops.

So it's up to you whether you want to stop or not. Note that pitting two cars at the same time will cause lost positions for the car behind.

Pros and cons of each decision
Stopping:
+ Gap to the lead smaller
+ No need to stop again
- Possibility to stuck behind drivers who decided not to stop
- Tyres may be damaged at the end of the race

Not stopping:
+ Move to to front at the moment
+ Fresher tyres at the end
- Pit stop, when it's made, will cause bigger time loss
- May lose time when blocking faster drivers who pitted.

I won't run any green flag laps on Wednesday. So the decisions until 08.00 CET on Thursday, August 7th. If no information, the decision will be RNGd, however for the teams that have both cars in the race, choose two different strategies.

Race order:
Jarvis, Danielsson, Matsuda, di Grassi, Turvey, Piquet Jr., Lotterer, Zuber, Glock, Albuquerque, Pagenaud, Hülkenberg, Buemi, van der Garde, Petrov, Grosjean, Valerio, Teixeira, Kovalainen, Sutil (the latter two also collided and dropped to the back, however they are in the queue behind SC with no extra loss)

Out: di Resta, Kerr, Philippe, Niemelä, Senna, Yoshimoto

Similar situations may be asked if there are wet races regarding the tyre call.

Lap 1: Total chaos in the lower half. di Resta stalls his car, gets hit by Niemelä and in the action, Senna, Philippe, Kerr and Yoshimoto get eliminated along the two that collided first.

The drivers who didn't see what happened still race hard to the first corner, leading to collision between Kovalainen and Sutil. Both were able to continue, though Sutil pits.

There is so much wreckage on the start/finish straight that there is no way cars can stop there. The race will continue behind the safety car which will lead the road through the pit lane.

A pit window opened on lap 6 and this was used by di Grassi, Turvey, Zuber, Glock, Albuquerque and Hülkenberg. The rest of the field decided to stay out. As the field was unleashed, the order was: Jarvis, Danielsson, Matsuda, Piquet Jr., Lotterer, Pagenaud, Buemi, van der Garde, Petrov, Grosjean, Valerio, Teixeira, Kovalainen, Sutil, Turvey, Glock, di Grassi, Zuber, Hülkenberg, Albuquerque.

Lap 8: Buemi overtakes Pagenaud. van der Garde goes off and is forcedto pit.
Lap 9: Danielsson overtakes Jarvis for the lead.
Lap 10: van der Garde spins off.
Lap 12: Grosjean hits Petrov and retires. Turvey moves into top 10.
Lap 13: Mistake from Piquet Jr. drops him to 6th behind Lotterer and Buemi.
Lap 14: Frustrated by Teixeira, Kovalainen decides to come in for a stop. But otherwise this lap changes it all as Lotterer tries to take advantage of Matsuda's
mistake and overtake him. That fails, both go out of the race and safety car is deployed again. All drivers not yet to stop decide to do so.
In the pit stops, Petrov and Teixeira lose since they had to queue. Sixteen cars is left in the race and the drivers who pitted under the first safety car lead the pack. Order: Turvey, Glock, Zuber, di Grassi, Hülkenberg, Albuquerque, Danielsson,
Jarvis, Piquet Jr., Buemi, Pagenaud, Sutil, Kovalainen, Petrov, Valerio, Teixeira.
Lap 18: Restart. Danielsson overtakes Albuquerque.
Lap 19: Danielsson overtakes Hülkenberg, Jarvis overtakes Albuquerque.
Lap 20: Danielsson overtakes di Grassi.
Lap 24: Danielsson overtakes Zuber.
Lap 25: Glock tries to overtake Turvey, fails. This affects both so much that Danielsson passes them both!
Lap 26: Buemi overtakes Piquet Jr.
Lap 27: Teixeira has a big crash at the end of the start/finish straight. Safety car comes out for the third time.
Lap 31: Restart. Order: Danielsson, Turvey, Glock, Zuber, di Grassi, Hülkenberg, Jarvis, Albuquerque, Buemi, Piquet Jr., Sutil, Pagenaud, Kovalainen, Petrov, Valerio.
Lap 32: Jarvis overtakes Hülkenberg.
Lap 33: Jarvis overtakes di Grassi.
Lap 35: Buemi overtakes Albuquerque.
Lap 36: Piquet Jr. and Sutil overtake Albuquerque.
Lap 39: Danielsson wins by three and half seconds. Positions 2-4 were filled by drivers who stopped at the first safety car so it's not that easy to say which one was better tactic. Jarvis, di Grassi, Hülkenberg and Buemi fill the point-scoring positions, leaving the Swiss driver on pole for the sprint race.

The sprint race will start on wet circuit. It's not raining any more, also no more rain is expected.

0 means completely dry circuit, 100 completely undrivable weather. The track at the start is 47.

What will be your tyre choice for the race: slicks, inters or wets? In case of inters, please also state the track condition number where you will change to slicks and number of laps left (sprint race has 26 scheduled) when not doing stop anymore.

I am away for two days now so I until Sunday August 10th 15.00 CET to leave the decision.

Inters for both drivers please.

Pit Turvey once conditions slip below 30% and then Jarvis as soon as Turvey starts lapping faster than him. Neither car will pit during the last 8 laps of the race.

If I am to understand correctly, Lotterer will start near the back because of his accident? If so, he'll start on slicks and see it out. If the wet percentage hasn't fallen to less than 35% within the first six laps, he'll bail out and switch to inters. He'll switch back again to slicks if it reaches 16% wet percentage.

Filipe will start on inters, and he'll change over to slicks when the wet percentage drops to 26%. If the wet percentage doesn't fall this far by Lap 20, he'll see the race through on his original set of inters.
