Brabham are happy to announce that we have signed a deal with current champion James James Davies! His salary will be 11 mln, and he will receive a bonus of 6 mln once he wins his first race for Brabham.

Having in mind that news, I am going to revise all driver bids for second and friday drivers.

Wow, signing both the champion and vice-champion of 2013 certainly makes Brabham one of the top favourites. Certainly fighting for the title is our aim now.

2014 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix I - Race
Image
Penalty Points after the race:
#30 - Lewis Hamilton - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #77 (Sebastian Vettel))
#51 - Valtteri Bottas - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #4 (Jaime Alguersuari))

-- Positives --
Vitaly Petrov - won the lead on the first lap and managed to hold off the competition to win his first race for Stefan.

Fernando Alonso - look who's back with a vengeance, it is Alonso.

Sauber-Mercedes - unlike some of last year's top teams, their performance has hardly suffered.

Rookie Drivers - INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE for five guys, including three draftees, for scoring on their first time out.

Nico Rosberg - troublesome transmission spoils spectacular and amazing attempt at assaulting Alonso.

-- Negatives --
Jenson Button - beng beaten by your not highly rated team mate on your first day back with your old team is bad.

Ferrari - their works team fared horrible and their customer teams did even worse, earning them a REJECT OF THE RACE award.

Jeroen Krautmeir - three silly mistakes ruin a healthy bunch of points and hurting his tarnished reputation even more.

Villeneuve-Peugeot - double retirement does not help their budget.

Lewis Hamilton - drives like a monkeyman and gets some penalty points for it.

Penalty Points after the race:

#30 - Lewis Hamilton - 5
#51 - Valtteri Bottas - 5

-- Positives --
Sébastien Bourdais - back to winning ways after having to leave F1 and suffering disappointing years in IndyCar.

James James Davies - driving error may have cost him a win, but he did get the edge on his team mate.

Nico Rosberg - recovered nicely from grid penalty.

McLaren-Ferrari - impressive drive to earn their first points of the year in an inferior car get them INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE.

Romain Grosjean - engine failure ruins chance at major points, but Grosjean still impressed.

-- Negatives --
Fernando Alonso - he's better not proud of his effort today, even if he got a point.

Valtteri Bottas - driver errors everywhere can earn even a rookie the REJECT OF THE RACE award.

Pedro de la Rosa - could have almost doubled Caterham's point haul if the heat had not fried his aged brain.

Villeneuve-Peugeot - a miserable race after their double retirement yesterday.

Lewis Hamilton - another uninspired retirement for the new Stefan driver, it seems like starting anew is hard.

Doesn't help my frustration though - it's hard not to be when my race was ruined at the first corner. I'm not exactly sure what happened, all I know is I drilled in the back by Rosberg - apparently Kvyat got into him or something, but I haven't seen a replay yet so I can't say for sure. Still, we proved we've got a really fast racecar in this Sauber, so I'm itching to get to Malaysia and make up for what happened today.

I'd also like to add that I'm really thankful that I've got such a great teammate in Sebastien to work with - I'm sure half the reason I'm doing so well is because of his help with working on setup and such. Congrats to him on the win today, I know he deserves it.

Memo from Stefan GP

I think Daniil Kyvat deserves more penalty points for that incident as Lewis Hamilton got two more penalty points for crashing into fewer cars! And no, this has nothing to do with damaging Aleshin's car as much as the fact you finish sixth and took out one driver, damaged the cars of four others, and damaged the finances of multiple teams. I think the only thing saving you from more penalty points was that Nico Rosberg finished on the podium despite such damage.

That indeed is true, but the damage total cost Williams a bunch of points as I suspect Rosberg could have won and took out a Stefan GP car. Kvyat will not be popular at the Mercedes customer teams.

And what the bathplug is going on with Daniil Kvyat's name?

IIRC, W in Germany is like a double V. That's why Petrov is spelt Petrow.

2014 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix I - Race

2014 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix I - Race
Image
Penalty Points after the race:
#2 - Vitaly Petrov - 3 (+3 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #8 (Dave Cassidy))
#5 - Fernando Alonso - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #3 (Jacques Villeneuve))
#18 - Pedro de la Rosa - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #27 (Evgeny Restov))
#30 - Lewis Hamilton - 8 (+3 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #5 (Fernando Alonso))
#32 - Felipe Nasr - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #33 (Alexandre Prémat))
#51 - Valtteri Bottas - 5

-- Positives --
To be honest, I find myself incapable of really talking positives here since literally everyone had mistakes or technical trouble. INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE goes to Jeroen Krautmeir since he won the damn thing.

-- Negatives --
Let's make this short and sweet as well: REJECT OF THE RACE for everyone! Yes, everyone was bad and everyone deserved equally to be called a stupid monkeyman. Obviously guys like Alex Lynn and the Saubers stand out, but it would be unjust to give it just to them.

I was looking to settle in and maybe bring a podium home for the team, but that kinda tossed my whole race into the trash can and I had to fight hard to just finish freaking 10th. Which is still a point, but I was looking for 15 of them. But yeah, this is 3 starts and I've been hit on the first lap in two of them. Not exactly happy about that.

Penalty Points after the race:
#2 - Vitaly Petrov - 3
#5 - Fernando Alonso - 5
#7 - Sébastien Bourdais - 4 (+4 for dangerous driving against the driver of car #8 (Dave Cassidy))
#8 - Dave Cassidy - 2 (+2 for dangerous driving against the driver of car #1 (James James Davies))
#15 - Matthieu Vaxivière - 5 (+5 for causing an avoidable accident involving the driver of car #14 (Romain Grosjean))
#18 - Pedro de la Rosa - 9 (+4 for dangerous driving against the driver of car #52 (Jean-Éric Vergne))

#32 - Felipe Nasr - 5
#51 - Valtteri Bottas - 5

-- Positives --
James James Davies - brilliant run by the world champion to get his first win of 2014.

Nico Rosberg - unlucky to not get a podium, but his driving is still impressive.

Jenson Button - taking a good race and making the most of it gets himself an INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE.

Evgeny Restov - played very unfair at the start, yet got himself a nice bunch of points.

Dave Cassidy - did a nice job to acquire two points despite everything going wrong.

-- Negatives --
Sébastien Bourdais - awfully bad driving for someone who finished second.

Williams-Mercedes - driver errors and technical issues hurt their chances, even if the results don't look like that.

Mahindra-Mercedes - even with their lack of experience, their drivers fared just too badly to not get the team REJECT OF THE RACE.

Pedro de la Rosa - someone with his experience just musn't act like this.

Villeneuve-Peugeot - another double retirement, this time with electrical problems.

Budgets are updated. Contrary to what I said, I will not automatically apply upgrades once you can afford them, since working that out makes my heads hurt. So note that all upgrades must be announced by you once you can pay for it.

Dave Cassidy wrote:I got a lot of respect for Sebastien, but that move he pulled on me on... what was it, lap 2? Whatever lap, it was totally uncalled for. Hell, if he wanted to get past me so much he could've just said on the radio, I'dve let him by, I know how Formula 1 works, and I wanna help the team win as much as possible, but shoving me off the track, that's just not cool. So I had to fight my way back through the pack, but hey, at least I'm getting plenty of practice at that, right? So, I got back up to 7th I think, and then the energy recovery decides it doesn't want to work properly, and that could've caused a massive failure with some of the driver aids, so I needed to bring it back in and get the team to give it a reset. Obviously I lost a lot of time there, so JJD tried to put the most half-assed overtaking move I've ever seen to lap me, so I just kinda eased him off into the grass. It's not like he was fighting anyone; so he wins by one less second - big deal, who cares, right?

So I charge off again and just squeak back into 9th by the end of the race - I tell you, that was the hardest I've ever fought for a 9th place finish. I guess this is what you call one of those character-building races - hopefully I'm getting all these out of the way early in the season so I can focus on getting much bigger results for the rest of the season, because we should've been at least 2nd and 3rd today. But 2 points is better than 0.

James James Davies wrote:Not really much to say - I drove awesome, losers drove like crap. Alonso beat me on the pit strategy but, eh, I guess he can't stand the pressure from an actual World Champion. Only problem was trying to lap that Cassidy kid - he's a lap down, he's clearly sucking if he's going a lap down in a Sauber, and instead the jackass shoves me off. The FIA needs to do something about those Sauber drivers - I tell you, they're dirty cheats like those Stefan losers.

To help you with your financial planning, here's an important piece of information: any bonus your team pays your driver will be taken out of your budget at the end of the season, not when the driver actually fulfills the condition.
