The BAR and Honda liveries look the prettiest to me of all of these testing liveries. The one of the 1999 BAR with Jacques Villeneuve in the car looks as if it's derived from the team's Tyrrell heritage. Beautiful.

The 2 Williams-BMW testing liveries are no slouches either. Little did I know how often Jörg Müller tested F1 cars. He really would have deserved a race seat in F1 in the mid-90s but then, his employer BMW was not interested in entering just yet, and by the 00s, it was too late for Müller. The same story happened a few years later upon BMW's return to DTM: Jörg applied for the ride but didn't get it, even though he raced for the marque in WTCC the year before. Instead, his unrelated namesake Dirk Müller got the DTM ride then.

And my, what a pleasure to see Yuji Ide in testing SuperAguri's Arrows chassis. He is a hero to me as well as to this website because he became the legitimate successor of Perry "Stig" McCarthy. I was trackside when Perry ran through Eau Rouge but little did I know of his broken steering. Little do we know what obstacles with the chassis Ide-san had to work with.

Thank you guys for posting all those beautiful pictures. The Zakspeed with the #1 is indeed pretty funny. They might not even have had a #2 car ready for testing at that time.

I did a 'gooooogle' check for a pic of this but ironically the search took me back to this forum, on another thread which discussed a similar topic!!!

But yeah, can recall Minardi PS02. Testing car had livery of a pretty much all black livery, while launch car had more red and white on it.

Also liked the original Sauber Ford livery, same too the Arrows Cosworth (Tiger) livery. Ironically both changed livery due to Red Bull!

Not F1, but I was just rewatching a promotional A1GP DVD from late 2004/early 2005 and I noticed the following livery that I had not been aware of before, and had certainly not been used in an A1GP race. And interesting that the car has UK on the side, when the team was known as A1 Team GB...

No one mentioned the classic Williams dark blue testing iivery:

Renault celebrated their 30th anniversary in F1 at Silverstone in 2007 by bringing a showcar with essentially the same livery they'd later use on the R30. It's a shame they didn't replace the ING livery with this:

A Jaguar R5 in the livery of the team's new owners, similar to the Benetton.


A Toro Rosso STR1 from 2006 pre-season testing with a livery a bit too similar to the Red Bull (or more accurately a Red Bull RB1 with the yellow replaced with gold).


A BMW F1.06 from the same year.

I once read somewhere that Williams in early 1985 used the old FW09 as a spare - I would love to see that car in the Canon/ICI livery!

Wish Red Bull/Toro Rosso did this, instead of having 2 quite similar liveries.

I think there was talk that STR would race in Red Bull Sugarfree colours but it didn't happen.

Strange how the FW09 looks a lot less hideous in the 1985-93 livery. Or is it just the lack of the humungous rear wing that does it?

Those would be the colours of the North American Racing Team (NART) Ferraris.

Or... the fact that these pictures are taken from opposite sides of the car made me think -- how about both of those liveries, split down the middle like the 1999 BAR? What if...

I remember seeing a mock-up of this livery on the Arrows A23 in July of 2002. It look really good. I was quite surprised when I saw this on the Jaguar.

Chanoch Nissany's very own son, Roy Nissany has recently tested the same Sauber which was mentioned in the first posting of this thread. Its livery was changed again, only slightly. They didn't return it to Sauber colors, though.
