KL-racer's Alternate Super GT 2007 Season SEASON CANCELED!

Post by KL-racer »

KL-racer’s Alternate SUPER GT: 2007 season

Okay, I decided to continue on with this series because I figured that there might be some interest in this still! FYI, this series will be run via xkoranate, as always, but with a couple changes as you can see as you read through this post.

Rules:

Prize money: (GT500/GT300)
1st place: 8 million yen/4 million yen
2nd Place: 6 million yen/3 million yen
3rd place: 4 million yen/2 million yen
4th Place: 3 million yen/1.5 million yen
5th place: 2 million yen/1 million yen
6th Place: 1 million yen/0.5 million yen

Point system for both classes
1st: 10 pts
2nd: 6 pts
3rd: 4 pts
4th: 3 pts
5th: 2 pts
6th: 1 pt

Success ballast for both classes will be .05(X) when X is the number of points and Success ballast does carry throughout the whole season like it was in 2006.

Upgrade rules: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

In a new change for 2007, you can only do upgrades during four specific times during the season. The first window will be before the first race starts, the second window will be after round 3, the third window will be before round 7, and the final window will be before the final round.

During each window for upgrades, you can spend anywhere between 0.5 to 2.5 million yen for EACH stat for each car you own. The amount you gain will increase if you spend more, but the exact amount will be done with a RNG.

EDIT: as requested by Vepe, here's the table for upgrades. And oops I accidently did the wrong amounts originally, these are the new amounts!

0.5 million yen = RNG x .001
1 million yen = RNG x .002
1.5 million yen = RNG x .003
2 million yen = RNG x .004
2.5 million yen = RNG x .005

Here’s the entry list as of right now: NOTE: I already subtracted the Driver salaries into the budget for 2007 assuming you want to keep these drivers! If you want to change a driver, I will recalculate the budget accordingly.

NOTE: The three numbers are the car stats for acceleration, corning and reliability

Advan Racing has folded after two seasons. Firman and Noda will now be free agents.

I just haven't really been paying any attention to this series. Sorry.

OK, I did changed the upgrade system for this season so here's what I ended up doing for this example. Since you could only do 2.5 million yen for each stat maximum. I took 2.5 million x 3 out of the budget. Second, I used RNG for each area. FYI, the numbers were 80, 95, and 29. Finally, I took these three numbers and multiplied each one by 0.5 since you spent the max on upgrades anyway and added these new amounts to the stats.

And FYI, here's a handy table that everyone needs to know in regards of upgrades

0.5 million yen: RNG x 0.1
1 million yen: RNG x 0.2
1.5 million yen: RNG x 0.3
2 million yen: RNG x 0.4
2.5 million yen: RNG x 0.5

I also added two more GT500 team slots since Advan racing team quitted the series and Gazprom Restov will make the switch to a Nissan 350Z for their GT500 team this season, because Lamborghini canned their GT500 program!

Hayate Auto Garage boys have been locked-up in their garage for the entire off-season, because the owner wanted the car upgraded. They spent 0,5 million on accelaration, 1,5 million on cornering and 1 million on reliability.

It could also be useful if this...

Yeah, I did put the table in the opening post. In terms of the RNG for Hayate's upgrades, the numbers are 39(0.001), 92(0.003), and 8(0.002). As for the GT300 programs for TRE and Panasonic Tom's. In the Panasonic Tom's case they ran out of money and in TRE's case didn't have enough money to hire drivers! And to make matters worse for Panasonic Tom's they needed a new vehicle to replace the aging MR-S which by the way stopped production around this time. And just in case you didn't notice, Nihon Racing's GT300 program switched to the RX-8 because the RX-7 stopped production in 2002.

Given that there are 3 open GT300 slots. I will approve it, I just need two drivers, the car number and a car that hasn't be taken yet. Here's some car ideas to consider, Mooncraft Shiden, Lotus Exige S, Ferrari F430, Mosler MT900, and the Chevy Corvette C6 to name a few that hasn't been used yet.

Techcraft will use Mitsubishi Lancer with car number #57, with Hideki Noda and Moreno Suprapto as it's drivers. And yes, the One Piece anime will be our main sponsors :D

Alright, Blokkmonsta will start planning for the 2007 season.

For the GT500 class we will keep the 350Z hoping that it will improve our chances of getting a GTR R35 next year. ;)

We may switch a driver out however, so we want to know the price for this driver:

Ho-Pin Tung: http://www.driverdb.com/drivers/ho-pin-tung/

As for the GT300, we will keep the Vemac RD, but in 2007 the Vemac switched from a Zytek V8 to the newer HPD V8 that was detuned from the Acura ARX-01, as explained here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Performance_Development#Sports_car_racing

Is it possible to switch the engine for the Vemac? And if so, will it cost anything?

We may have interest in other engines as well, like the Chevrolet LS1 (from the Mosler), the Chevy LS7 or maybe even the R35 GTR's engine (the VR38DETT) to try to improve our relations with Nissan :D

Ho-Pin Tung will cost you 2 million yen, but only the GT500 team can afford him at this point.

As for the Vemac RD Engine, yes it can be switched for the HPD with no change of car stats but it will cost you the Remaining half a million yen to do so. If that doesn't work for the budget, you could switch to the Chevy LS1 for 0.25 million yen instead but you will lose 0.1 point off the Acceleration stat.

Alright, We will keep the Vemac's Zytek engine for another year then. We will sack Sawa in exchange for Pin Tung.

Here is Blokkmonsta's premilinary entry, we will post upgrades after this is confirmed:

GT500: Blokkmonsta Motorsport #42
Nissan 350Z Budget: 5.5 Million
Naoki Hattori (2)/ Ho-Pin Tung (2)

GT300: Blokkmonsta Custom Garage #72
Vemac RD Budget: 0.5 Million
Hiroki Yoshimoto (1.5)/ Cong Fu Cheng (1)

For Blokkonsta's pre-season upgrades we want to invest 1 million yen for EACH value on the GT500 350Z, so thats 3 million in total. We have next to nothing for the GT300 car so we won't invest in that for now.

The 2007 Season begins with the typical opener at Okayama. Here's the qualifying results

GT500
1 S. Yamamoto/Y. Tachikawa (ARTA) 1:27.588
2 C. Fittipaldi/S. Nakano (Grand Honshu Racing) 1:28.054
3 D. Ito/R. Lyons (Dynamite Racing Team) 1:28.099
4 L. Duval/H. Mutoh (Fireball Racing) 1:28.136
5 A. Lotterer/R. Michigami (Gazprom Restov Racing) 1:28.166
6 N. Hattori/H.P. Tung (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:28.218
7 M. Krumm/A. Yoong (Nihon Racing) 1:28.255
8 J. Paulo De Oliverira/T. Tsuchiya (Hayate Auto Garage) 1:28.278
9 J. Plato/K. Kobayashi (HKS Racing) 1:28.353
10 O. Beretta/S. Motoyama (Equinox-Lamb Racing) 1:28.515
11 M. Salo/K Hirate (Nippon Nagoya) 1:28.518
12 H. Mitsusada/ R. Collard (Takagi Racing Enterprises) 1:28.578
13 J. Dufour/T. Kaneishi (Castrol Racing Team) 1:28.814

No surprises here, the ARTA team just continues to dominate this format. Heck, the front two rows of the grid is locked out by NSX's. The fastest non-Honda, happens to be Restov's new 350Z.

GT300
1 Y. Ide/T. Matsuda (ARTA) 1:31.472
2 A. Couto/T. Kogure (Nippon Nagoya) 1:32.191
3 T. Schedier/K. sasaki (Equinox-Lamb Racing) 1:32.427
4 T. Yamano/S. Mitsuyama (Dynamite Racing Team) 1:32.442
5 Y. Kunimoto/S. Ara (Fireball Racing) 1:32.471
6 N. Karthikeyan/K. Ihara (Nihon Racing) 1:32.644
7 K. Nakajima/M. Neal (Top Secret Racing) 1:33.151
8 R. Firman/O. Jarvis (Loyer Racing Technologies) 1:33.435
9 P. McCarthy/K. Yamanuchi (HKS Racing) 1:33.680
10 H. Yoshimoto/C.F. Cheng (Blokkmonsta Custom Garage) 1:33.686
11 J. Wakisaka/M. Kinoshita (Castrol Racing Team) 1:33.755
12 H. Noda/M. Suprapto (Techcraft) 1:33.814
13 S. Sarrazin/S. Zlobin (Gazprom Restov Racing) 1:34.318

Okay, this is getting ridiculous now, the ASL Gariaya is still the car to beat for GT300 qualifying. The 2005 GT300 champs, Nippon Nagoya, can't get within a half second of these guys. However, a solid effort for Loyer Racing Technologies, in their SUPER GT debut, nets them a 8th place qualifying spot. Even less impressive was the EVO 9 of Techcraft, but given that the last time the EVO contested in this series was by Stramala in the 2005 season, that's kind of expected. Nihon switched to a RX8 for this season, it was lacking top end speed on the back straight but somehow they start 6th, and the Lotus Exige of Top secret was a pleasant surprise as well. Of course, HKS switching to the Mooncraft Shiden will take time getting used to but it did show some promise.

Good qualifying for us, but we want more, so we will invest 2.5m in each category after this race!

Since, you didn't bother upgrading before the first race, I will approve it for this one time only. But, make sure you read the upgrade section on the opening post more carefully next time!

So, here's the round 1 race results from Okayama

GT500
1 C. Fittipaldi/S. Nakano (Grand Honshu Racing) 2:10:14.322
2 L. Duval/H. Mutoh (Fireball Racing) 2:10:19.278
3 N. Hattori/H.P. Tung (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 2:10:33.388
4 M. Salo/K Hirate (Nippon Nagoya) 2:11:15.107
5 O. Beretta/S. Motoyama (Equinox-Lamb Racing) 2:11:15.185
6 J. Paulo De Oliverira/T. Tsuchiya (Hayate Auto Garage) 2:11:30.799
7 M. Krumm/A. Yoong (Nihon Racing) 2:11:38.224
H. Mitsusada/ R. Collard (Takagi Racing Enterprises) DNF lap 68
D. Ito/R. Lyons (Dynamite Racing Team) DNF lap 64
S. Yamamoto/Y. Tachikawa (ARTA) DNF lap 62
J. Plato/K. Kobayashi (HKS Racing) DNF lap 45
J. Dufour/T. Kaneishi (Castrol Racing Team) DNF lap 37
A. Lotterer/R. Michigami (Gazprom Restov Racing) DNF lap 7

Yes, for once ARTA didn't managed to dominate. They happened to DNF on Lap 62. Grand Honshu took full advantage of this, and managed to draw first blood for the win. Blokkmonsta got on the podium with a 3rd.

GT300
1 T. Schedier/K. sasaki (Equinox-Lamb Racing) 2:11:29.963
2 Y. Ide/T. Matsuda (ARTA) 2:11:36.372
3 R. Firman/O. Jarvis (Loyer Racing Technologies) 2:11:54.733
4 Y. Kunimoto/S. Ara (Fireball Racing) 2:12:08.408
5 H. Yoshimoto/C.F. Cheng (Blokkmonsta Custom Garage) 2:12:14.355
6 S. Sarrazin/S. Zlobin (Gazprom Restov Racing) 2:12:22.776
J. Wakisaka/M. Kinoshita (Castrol Racing Team) DNF lap 80
P. McCarthy/K. Yamanuchi (HKS Racing) DNF lap 60
N. Karthikeyan/K. Ihara (Nihon Racing) DNF lap 46
K. Nakajima/M. Neal (Top Secret Racing) DNF lap 40
H. Noda/M. Suprapto (Techcraft) DNF lap 29
A. Couto/T. Kogure (Nippon Nagoya) DNF lap 25
T. Yamano/S. Mitsuyama (Dynamite Racing Team) DNF lap 16

However, ARTA did finish 2nd in GT300, but it was Equinox-Lamb taking home the GT300 win. The biggest surprise was Loyer Racing Technologies managing to get on the podium in it's first race. Meanwhile, Gazprom Restov barely limped home in 6th and getting the final point for GT300.

12 S. Sarrazin/S. Zlobin (Gazprom Restov Racing) 2:04.693
13 H. Noda/M. Suprapto (Techcraft) 2:04.796

The current GT300 champs and the 2005 GT300 champs, locked up the front row for this race. Loyer Racing technologies did okay despite some success ballast earned from the previous race.
