Macau JR Masters Practice Session Results:
Weather is dry all weekend.



With all the drivers having to get used to brand new machinery on a track that none of them ever seen before, the 45 minute test session was going to be a mess. The first big victim was Cecep Sugiharto who blew his clutch out exiting the pits, preventing him from getting any running for the duration of the session. F3RWRS Champion-Elect Nick Nurmester locked up his rears following Naas Botha and crashed into the outside barrier at Lisboa, destroying the left front corner of his Oreca MF01 near the end of his first run, while Aimée Gauthier and Jayleen Mori suffered a Oil Leak and a Gearbox problem respectively.

At the pointy end of the field, Shane Walsh was quick to acclimate himself to the MF01 and to the Guia circuit, setting the pace early for Echoften. A lap that would hold for the duration for the session, being six tenths clear of Miguel Silva and Hannesson who rocketed to third on the charts with 5 minutes to go in the session.

Macau JR Masters Qualifying Sessions Results:



Times in yellow are for faster times done in the second Qualifying session.

The few hours between Q1 and Q2 made a huge difference. Whilst there was more rubber layed down on the Guia circuit, the track temperature was 15 degrees warmer than in Q1. Only drivers that didn't get a good enough lap in Q1 improved in Q2. Whilst Q1 was clean, Franc Piscine hit the wall at Lisboa late into Q2 but it didn't affect anyone who was on a flying lap. Aimee Gauthier elected only to do a sighting lap late in the session to see how the track conditions have evolved since Q1 and to preserve the condition of the car.

Macau JR Masters Race Results:



Fastest Lap: Jayleen Mori - Falik Arrows - 2:09.708

DOTR: Nick Nurmester - Dove at his own pace, controlled the race and didn't throw it away.
ROTR: Anyone not Nurmester, Grey or St.Laurent - Brains were definitely left at home.

Nick Nurmester has been rewarded with a F1RWRS test with Aeroracing Engineering.
Jones Racing has earned an automatic invitation to the 2017 Macau Junior Masters.

Nick Nurmester goes lights to flag and was one of only three drivers to have a clean run on the streets of Macau. The other two being St. Laurent and Sandy Grey who was stuck in Third Gear for the last quarter of a lap, but managed to hold on to third place as St.Laurent only managed to pass her at the last corner on the last lap.

The chaos started quickly after the lights went out when Terenzio Nicchi clipped the inside barrier into turn 1 and ran into Suomanen, causing a huge wreck behind. Everyone P19 on back needed to pit and get new front and/or rear wings with Dinella, Nicchi and Mestach all retiring on the spot. Joel Melrose was the next to retire when he had no where to go when Hannesson ran into the back of Velazquez at Fishermans, leaving Melrose nowhere to go but into the IBR driver causing the JLD driver to retire on the spot with Dominguez, Suomanen and Taylor then retiring in the pit lane. With all the chaos on the pit-straight and at Fishermans, the Safety Car had to be deployed in order to clean up the debris on track.

The safety car came in at the end of lap 4 and the story from there on out was being able to survive. Most of the field tripped up at one point or another, running into someone else or into a wall forcing a pit-stop to replace one or both wings. Kwol-Cho and Vosu hit the wall at Lisboa and R Bend respectively whilst in third place at separate points in the race removing from any contention for the win. Being at the front, Nurmester was allowed to run at his own pace and force everyone else to make the mistakes for him which allowed him to cruise for the duration for the race. The pack behind him increased to five cars at it's max with Nick, Grey, Vosu, St.Laurent and Port in the last few laps. Vosu fell by the wayside with her off, Sandy Grey had her gearbox issue which caused Port to lose his front wing on the last lap and St.Laurent only managed to get past Grey for second at the last possible moment, and by the time second was secured Nurmester had already crossed the finish line six seconds up the road.

In the next few days, I will release this as a standalone mod for GTR2.
