I can offer you Dutchman Jan van der Maeyede - he comes with a large amount of experience, and a large wallet to boot! If there's anyone you need to help you up the grid, it's Jan!

Also, he's a blast at official team parties. :P

fine then, Klon, Could I please put Jan Van Der Maeyede in for Geido Van Der Garde.
Thanks Pasta!

Race Control Addendum: Car #14 (Romain Grosjean) was handed a ten-second penalty for causing an avoidable accident involving car #11 (Sebastian Vettel).

-- Positives --
Red Bull-Honda - a 1-2 is the perfect way to get your championship challenge back on track.

Christian Klien - on his return he gets INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE for a sixth place despite running into Max Chilton.

Pastor Maldonado - the talented rookie shows what potential lies in the KQ car and the Hyundai engine.

Jérôme d'Ambrosio - a great drive by the Lola rookie to get P14.

Fernando Alonso - heartbreak for the Spaniard after he lost what looked like a likely win so close to the finish.

-- Negatives --
Romain Grosjean - the stewards did not look kindly on his accident at the start, his comeback fight was for nothing.

James James Davies - once again Davies was quite uncompetitive as his team mate got glory.

Keiko Ihara - bothered the Red Bulls and had an accident with Prost whilst being lapped in addition to her usual atrocious pace.

Sergio Pérez - spinning out of a promising position and then not getting back on track for six laps before destroying your transmission makes you REJECT OF THE RACE.

McLaren-Mercedes - an engine failure after the first lap and a transmission failure after the fifth lap speaks for itself.

Race Control Addendum: Car #26 (Keiko Ihara) was handed a two race ban for causing avoidable accidents involving car #0 (Fernando Alonso) and disregarding blue flags. The FIA will review her super license after the ban has ended.

-- Positives --
Sebastién Bourdais - joining the elite group of humans known as "F1 race winners" makes him a proud Frenchman.

Romain Grosjean - INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE for coming closer to his debut win than anyone dared to imagine.

Stefan-Renault - they are back with a great haul of points, sure to make Ferrari mad as heck.

Nicolás Fontana - Argentina has a new hero, ladies and gentlemen.

Michael Schumacher - leading half a race in a Super Aguri makes you a hero, there is no doubt about it.

-- Negatives --
Ferrari - their wet track performance left a bit to be desired and that is putting it very politely.

Mercedes - just look at those comments from race control above and that tells you about Mercedes's day which earns them REJECT OF THE RACE.

Jenson Button - losing a front wing and being too slow to make up for it tells the whole story.

Keiko Ihara - seemingly involved with every bad thing today, her F1 career has come in serious jeopardy.

Sauber-Ferrari - Perez with an early retirement and Klien forced to surrender a possible points finish after having to avoid Alonso.

Young Driver's Test I

Post by Klon »

It is now time for the first young drivers test of the season. The 13 Formula 1 teams stay in Barcelona on May 17 and May 18 to give new drivers (and new parts) a chance.

You, as team managers, have two things to decide - who will drive your cars and how you want to approach the test. There are three options:
Using a main driver - for a heavy fee, the FIA lets a team use one of their main drivers (you can pick either one of your two hired drivers, there is no difference as far as development is concerned). This option increases the chance of successfully developing upgrades to 40 per-cent and costs €30,000,000
Entering two rookies - this is the middle ground, the team brings two proper rookies to the test. That has a 20 per-cent chance of successfully developing upgrades and costs €15,000,000
Selling one seat - poorer teams can choose to sell their test seat to "hopeful young drivers" with significant money. This option is free but since the team's full effort is needed to make sure the paying rookies are not a danger to other drivers, there is no chance of successfully developing upgrades.

Just post this one in the thread until next Friday and we are good to go:
Team: Well, duh.

Strategy: using a main driver/entering two rookies/selling one seat

Driver #1: Pick any driver between the age of 15 and 35 who has appeared in five or less Grands Prix.
Driver #2: Depending on your choice you enter here one of your main drivers, the second rookie or nothing-

Current Testing Line-Up:
Ferrari: Dean Stoneman/Robert Kubica
Mercedes: Esteban Guerrieri/James James Davies
Red Bull: Mitch Evans/Charles Pic
McLaren: Felipe Nasr/Lewis Hamilton
Stefan: Milos Pavlovic/Shinobu Katayama
Williams: Dani Clos/Kevin Korjus
Renault: Alexandre-Laurent Voeckler/Romain Grosjean
Sauber: James Calado/Charlie Kimball
Force India: Conor Daly/E.J. Viso
Super Aguri: Vitantonio Liuzzi/Sergey Sirotkin
Lola: James Hinchcliffe/Susie Wolff
USF1: Pippa Mann/Jan Van Der Maeyede
KQ: Carmen Jordá/Parthiva Sureshwaren

KQ's strategy for testing is selling one seat.

Driver one: Narain Karthikeyan
Driver two: Open to any fictional drivers out there (MUST BE SPANISH OR FINNISH IN NATIONALITY)

And glad to hear the Ihara-as-distaff-counterpart-of-Ide plan worked

Sorry about that...

Anyway, Alden will take Keiko's place. :)

First of all - damn Ferrari for taking what would be at least podium finish for Super Aguri!

Then - we will try to sell both seats at the coming test session, hoping we add a dollar or two to our budget. As this is transitional year with poor chassis and mediocre engine, we do not see any point in upgrading this sh*t. Instead, we will save as much money as possible and will concentrate on next year car so that we make something at least decent.

Sadly that is not an option. All you can do is sell one to not having to pay anything - you can therefore pick a younger driver if you want to.

The Voeckler family is highly enthused by Renault's decision to run Alexandre-Laurent Voeckler at the YDT. 31 years ago, his father Jeremy-Etienne Voeckler debuted in F1 at a mid-season test, and went on to win in his first ever race for the marque later that same season. Perhaps a top performance in the upcoming session could put the underperforming Nicolas Prost under pressure?

The upgrade is automatically applied to whatever the team's car is weakest in.

Excellent run by Lewis and Felipe Nasr. The car should be more competitive now, and Nasr may put some pressure on Wickens to improve his form.

200 point upgrade will mean Restov and Van Der Maeyede will be able to fight for points now

2011 Tiffany Monaco Grand Prix I - Race
Image
Race Control Addendum: Car #25 (Evgeny Restov) was handed a suspended two race ban for causing an avoidable accident involving car #24 (Jan van der Maeyede).

-- Positives --
Lewis Hamilton - McLaren were confident after the Young Drivers Test and apparentely rightfully so.

Daniel Melrose - the champion returns and shows the skills of a champion.

Sergio Pérez - right now, the young Mexican is putting pressure on Rhys Davies, that's INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE today.

Nicolas Fontana - harassing a Ferrari is always worth bonus points.

Jérôme d'Ambrosio - despite Lola now having the weakest car in the field, he does not fear humiliation and fights bravely.

-- Negatives --
Sebastian Vettel - dropped off a bit after his heroic qualifying, but will still be pleased with finally scoring again.

Dean Stoneman - the guy may be popular with Ferrari management but that doesn't do away the need to perform on track.

USF1-Honda - one took out the other and both were not fast at all, giving the team REJECT OF THE RACE.

Robert Wickens - a horrible start, questionable pace and a late race technical problem resulted in a horrible day for the Canadian.

Davide Valsecchi - lost a front wing in a mid-race fight and never recovered.

Race Control Addendum: Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro have been fined €1.000.000 due to their driver in car #3 (Dean Stoneman) causing an avoidable accident involving car #4 (Robert Kubica)

-- Positives --
Daniel Melrose - the champ is heeeeere!

Dean Stoneman - although Ferrari management probably will want to murder him, his second place drive was brilliant.

Rhys Davies - another legendary Monaco performance by the Australian world champion to bring Sauber a podium.

Pastor Maldonado - INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE for proving doubters wrong and retaining his reputation as Monaco specialist.

Vitaly Petrov - fastest lap of the race and the first point earned without someone getting penalised.

-- Negatives --
Red Bull-Honda - after Ferrari was so kind to eliminate their lead driver, you would have expected them to take some further points, but nooooo...

James James Davies - being tought in humility by a one-off driver must hurt really bad.

McLaren-Mercedes - and so the beauty of race one came apart and the reality of McLaren not battling for the title this year came to light.

Stefan-Renault - Katayama slow plus Nakajima crashing out like an idiot equals REJECT OF THE RACE.

Nicolás Fontana - atrocious pace left Force India reeling.
