2011 BC Partners United States Grand Prix I - Race
Image
Note: Car #6 (Jenson Button) was disqualified from the standings and handed a two-race ban for causing avoidable accidents involving cars #21 (Rubens Barrichello) and #23 (Max Chilton)

-- Positives --
Evgeny Restov - the Russian became Americas hero and earned IIDOTR

Max Chilton - despite being one of the youngest drivers in F1 history he came home to finish this race, earning valueable points and money for Lola.

Rhys Davies - while his race ended tragic, he looked great and took the Sauber to places it was never taken before.

Nicolás Fontana - many critizised the FIA for giving him a super license, but his performance today shows he may have a future in F1.

James James Davies - heroic effort in a place where failing is easy, he kept Ferrari honest.

Negatives:
Rubens Barrichello - while he did finish and while he got points, he spun like four times, having only HWNSNBM to thank he didn't hit a wall: ROTR.

Jenson Button - the stewards decision was perfectly fair: if Barrichello hadn't been around, he would have grabbed ROTR for sure.

Vitaly Petrov - a good start turned into an ugly mess that thankfully ended before the checkered flag fell.

Davide Valsecchi - where his team mate almost became a hero, he just failed early and pathetically.

KQ-Hyundai - any race which ends for your team after two laps is a guarantee to be mentioned in this part of the review.

##########

As a reserve driver - can we (Honda) appoint Kimi Raikkonen?

No. He is done with F1 for now, you might want to pick someone with more ... interest in the sport.

Damn, a crash fest that pays well for Stefan GP with a 2nd and a 4th. Detroit is a magical place for us, but the cars weren't as fast as they were back in 2010.

Um, I don't think Evgeny Restov is your character to control...

James James Davies wrote:Alright, that was going pretty damn well. Everyone out there was struggling for grip, so that put us - well me, since Nate decided crashing was a better idea today, again - on a level playing field. Zero times zero is still zero so it made no damn difference to me, I just went out there and did the best I could, and I was gonna win the damn race there. Unfortunately there was just nothing I could do, I just took everything out of the tyres in the process, and I had absolutely nothing left. We gotta fix this shitebox, I know I can win this title but this car's gotta be at least half-decent at the next weekend, or we're just gonna lose way way too many points.

Yes, indeed. That's all the money you have, including what is left over after pre-season.

Dutchman Jan van der Maeyede is available for hire by any team. He brings a lot in the way of sponsorship but is prepared to drive for very low wages. Also, being 44, he brings experience to any team, after career in LifeGP, F1RGP2C, and a spell in Formula One from 2000-2002. :)

Unfortunately, Stefan GP is satisfied on both the monetary and performance front and Milos Pavlovic is Serbia's future in racing as our test driver/substitute. Others might be interested in Jan though.

I am tempted but it all depends on Van Der Garde at the next round for me to consider a formal approach.

Note: Stefan Grand Prix have been fined €2.000.000 due to their driver in car #9 (Kazuki Nakajima) for causing an avoidable accident involving car #19 (Sergio Pérez).

-- Positives --
Robert Kubica - only one mistake in a race where seemingly everyone made them, a well-deserved win.

Nicolas Prost - after an early mistake, Prost came back admirably and kept everything under control to get IIDOTR and twelve points.

Sergio Pérez - showed maturity where his team mate lacked it and got points after a messy first half of the Grand Prix.

Jérôme d'Ambrosio - yesterday he had to watch Chilton pull of the heroics, now it was his turn to overtake a McLaren on track and steal four points.

Rhys Davies - once again he was not rewarded for his brilliant work, a shame.

Negatives:
Fernando Alonso - two points are really too good for someone who overshot it whilst trying to get the lead and then apparentely failed to give a toss about this race.

Kazuki Nakajima - expensive and pathetic, that's the two words to describe his race if you're Stefan Grand Prix.

McLaren - failing and coming back from failing ... only to fail again, they deserve their ridiculously low WCC position at the moment.

Pastor Maldonado - if the number of spins you have in a race approaches double digits, ROTR is the only option.

Jacques Villeneuve - he never looked like he could use the Red Bull wings to their full advantage and that assessment was proven right very quickly.

Kazuki's fine is not as bad as the part about finishing behind Katayama, Nicolas Prost, Sergio Perez (who Kazuki crashed into), and Jerome D'Ambrosio. It's one thing to be outrun by a teammate, but to not be on the same lap and behind a Lola and a wounded car is a bit shameful. One point doesn't seem to make up for the fine and behind behind De Ambrosia of Jerome.

Race Control Addendum: Car #7 (Lewis Hamilton) was handed a race ban for causing an avoidable accident involving car #12 (Vitaly Petrov).
Race Control Addendum: Red Bull Racing Honda have been fined €1.000.000 due to their driver in car #6 (Jacques Villeneuve) causing an avoidable accident involving car #3 (James James Davies).

-- Positives --
Nathan McKane - took his debut win with an impressive effort from start to finish and deserves it more than anything else.

Fernando Alonso - after having trouble in the last races and losing cred with management, he came back to take a faultless P2.

Sebastian Vettel - kept Stefan Grand Prix honest and got a valueable fifth place after not making Q3.

Jérôme d'Ambrosio - the best of the rest, earning INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE without trouble.

Backmarkers Generally - today was the prime example for lower teams on how to take advantage of bigger guys tripping.

-- Negatives --
Robert Kubica - lost a chance at a podium spot and spent laps stuck behind Keiko Ihara of all people.

McLaren-Mercedes - right now things are going from bad to worse, giving them REJECT OF THE RACE.

Renault - with Grosjean spinning and dropping back and Prost colliding with Petrov this race really wasn't too hot for them.

Jacques Villeneuve - the second day on the job turned sour when he had contact with Davies and then got even worse when he was hit by Barrichello.

Super Aguri-Honda - the only team at the back who didn't make anything out of today's mess: Barrichello spun and Schumacher had engine trouble.

Race Control Addendum: Sauber F1 Team Ferrari have been fined €500.000 due to their driver in car #18 (Rhys Davies) being careless in rejoining the track after a pitstop.

-- Positives --
Nathan McKane - second win for McKane in the second Japanese race, what domination.

Romain Grosjean - came back after a miserable race and grabbed a third place for Renault.

Davide Valsecchi - sure is making his team mate look stupid with his great performances.

Sergio Perez - again made something of the day when Rhys Davies did not.

Estaban Guerrieri - INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE for taking the McLaren up to P9 on his first time in the car.

-- Negatives --
Honda - Fineagle's law in action as the Japanese engine manufacturer grabs REJECT OF THE RACE with both hands.

Nicolas Prost - just not fast enough to grab points when they were on offer.

Vitaly Petrov - stupid spin costs him time and causes his team grey hairs.

Dean Stoneman - if Guerreri demonstrates a good debut, Stoneman demonstrates a horrible one.

Rhys Davies - got his team fined and smashed after an in-theory easy pass on Keiko Ihara.

Its a shame, I wanted to challenge Schumacher and try and get into Q2. Congratulations to Giedo, he put in a strong lap, but I'd really want to be slightly closer to the cars in front than I am. For sure, it will be difficult in the race, the car isn't stable enough at speed, but I should be able to make up a few places. It will be fun.

2011 Hyundai Korean Grand Prix I - Race
Image

-- Positives --
Robert Kubica - extends his WDC lead with 25 points, a great drive by the Polish star.

Rhys Davies - Sauber's best result in F1 earn Rhys Davies INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE.

Romain Grosjean - currently his performances are on and off again, today he was more than on.

Davide Valsecchi - some say he might be underperforming given his car, but he is keeping his team mate honest.

Jenson Button - even though his last-lap error has cost him quite a lot, his drive before that was perfect.

-- Negatives --
Sebastién Bourdais - he was miles off his team mate's pace and can be happy to have grabbed points at all.

Jenson Button - in a race otherwise completely devoid of major errors, Button is getting REJECT OF THE RACE for losing P2 on the last lap.

Stefan-Renault - completely off the pace, this race may very well put any cheating allegations to rest.

Nicolas Prost - atrocious pace, eons behind his team mate.

KQ-Hyundai - their first home race was an ugly mess, with Maldonado spinning and Ihara performing as atrociously as usual.

2011 Hyundai Korean Grand Prix II - Race

Race Control Addendum: Car #21 (Rubens Barrichello) was handed a race ban for causing an avoidable accident involving car #16 (Nicolás Fontana).

-- Positives --
Lewis Hamilton - coming back from P14 to finish in P5 earns him INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE.

Shinbou Katayama - kept her head out of the mess and got four points in an uncompetitive car for it.

Pastor Maldonado - getting Hyundai's tenth point in Formula One is making Maldonado a happy man.

Nathan McKane - he looked like threatening and maybe even passing Alonso in the lead when a Bridgestone tyre gave up on him.

Rhys Davies - could have gotten a great result for Sauber again but destroyed his transmission on the way.

-- Negatives --
Robert Wickens - losing a major haul of points because of an avoidable spin sure makes him look bad.

Kazuki Nakajima - could not stay out of trouble on the start and never recovered from being run off the track.

Vitaly Petrov - wanted too much on lap 1 and paid the price for it, never been seen again until the end of the race.

Max Chilton & Keiko Ihara - drove their own pathetic race at speeds not suitable for F1.

Rubens Barrichello - spun, ran into Fontana whilst rejoining the track, got banned: REJECT OF THE RACE!

Race Control Addendum: Car #4 (Nathan McKane) was handed a suspended race ban for causing an avoidable accident involving car #18 (Rhys Davies).
Race Control Addendum: Car #6 (Jenson Button) was handed a ten-second penalty for causing an avoidable accident involving car #3 (James James Davies).
Race Control Addendum: Car #16 (Nicolás Fontana) was handed a suspended race ban for causing an avoidable accident involving car #23 (Max Chilton).
Race Control Addendum: Car #24 (Giedo van der Garde) was handed a suspended race ban for causing an avoidable accident involving car #26 (Keiko Ihara).

-- Positives --
Lewis Hamilton - he is back to win his first race of 2011 and INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE.

Sébastien Bourdais - improving his championship chances with P2.

Romain Grosjean - another good points haul, can he become consistent?

Pastor Maldonado - yet again Maldonado performs impressively, he is KQ's hero right now.

Vitaly Petrov - his first point was given to him by race control, he can be content with that anyway.

-- Negatives --
Jenson Button - another bad race, Bourdais controlled him and he is lucky to only lose points and not another race.

Robert Wickens - two points are hardly enough if your team mate wins the race.

Super Aguri-Honda - not being competitive and then having a team order for P18 is just ludicrous.

Mercedes - penalties and crashes do not represent what Mercedes want for their F1 team.

Giedo van der Garde - REJECT OF THE RACE for being a dolt, spinning out and eliminating Keiko Ihara.

Race Control Addendum: Car #18 (Rhys Davies) was handed a two race ban for causing avoidable accidents involving car #0 (Fernando Alonso) and car #26 (Keiko Ihara).

-- Positives --
James James Davies - entering the F1 winner circle is always special and Davies more than deserved it today.

Shinbou Katayama - just when you count Stefan out, Katayama goes and gets INFINITE IMPROBABILITY DRIVE OF THE RACE together with P2.

Sergio Perez - on the day his team mate got himself an unvoluntary holiday he performed great.

Pastor Maldonado - makes it two in a row in Turkey, this is valueable for KQ.

Sebastian Vettel - a great start came undone but he still performed well enough.

-- Negatives --
Romain Grosjean - what should have been a podium after his first pole became just one point due to an unforced error.

Rhys Davies - the stewards finally had enough of his behaviour and banned him, which also earns him REJECT OF THE RACE.

Nicolas Prost - whereas his team mate pissed away a podium, Prost never was in a position to choke.

Super Aguri-Honda - yet another bad race for the Japanese bunch, they have to hope for improvements in Spain.

Giedo van der Garde - the second bad race in a row for the rookie looking to survive in F1.

Actually he is ... at least parts of it. I will do the RNG for Glock and Chandhok once I have updated the budgets and checked whether you can afford sacking van der Garde.

I can offer you Dutchman Jan van der Maeyede - he comes with a large amount of experience, and a large wallet to boot! If there's anyone you need to help you up the grid, it's Jan!

Also, he's a blast at official team parties. :P

JVDM also comes totally vouched by former LifeGP and ProstGP team owner Al Smith, of Al Smith Racing Enterprises.
