Rejectrucks Super Series Thread -- M'ville/Chardiere Run

Post by Cynon »

Of all the canon series around here, there is, to my knowledge, no series that primarily races on ovals. There is also no series that uses trucks -- or rather, pickup trucks (weirdos and Australians call them utes). Since this series will primarily take place in North America, I see no problem with not calling them utes. :D

Image

Rejectrucks will be run with NASCAR Racing 2003 Season with the recently-released UK Trucks mod. The first season having 8 or 9 races, with most all of the races being on oval tracks. Most of the circuits that I use will be real, but there may be one or two fictional tracks thrown in that I can't resist.

The largest oval that I will use is the Chicagoland Speedway (because it's the best of the 1.5 milers and is also the closest track to my house), and that will probably be the only 1.5 mile oval that I use (Calder Park is 1.2 miles, so that's ... technically fair game... ;)).

Confirmed race dates:

1. Streets of Adelaide (Australia) (Road Course)
2. Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez (Mexico) (Road Course)
3. Walt Disney World (America)
4. Kawartha Speedway (Canada)
5. Chicagoland Speedway (America)
6. Lime Rock Mountain Course (America) (Road Course)
7. Martinsville Speedway (America)
8. Autodrome Montmagny (Canada)
9. Hickory Motor Speedway (America)

Manufacturers that I have for this mod include:

- SHP (British Pickup Truck Racing manufacturer)
- Ram Dakota
- Chevrolet Colorado
- Ford Ranger
- Toyota Tacoma
- Holden Commodore Ute (Ugly)

There will be 25 full-time trucks, with possible part-time entries granted as well.

Races will be run with, ideally, a live Twitch.TV broadcast (which means, if you miss the race live, it'll get posted on my Youtube channel after the race is over) and GNLTV (an NR2003 live race tracker), but you'll kind of have to be on the F1 Rejects IRC channel to catch the GNL stream. In other words: there will be a video for each race, and hopefully, featuring live commentary from the dick who posted this thread.

As you can probably tell, there's a lot of things I haven't ironed out yet. I haven't decided if I will start in 2016 because I'm not sure how quickly I can put each race out. Ultimately, I don't think it will matter because only one or two of the tracks I plan to visit will be used by other series (can you imagine IFRC going to Kawartha? Does Kawartha even exist for F1 Challenge?). Until then, here's a show truck:

Entry Form: (if this looks like I copypasted it from the Karjala GP thread on EFR, that's because I did :P)

Enter no more than two trucks. I would like as many different people as possible have entries in the series, so if both of your entries don't get in, don't worry about it. There is no real first-come-first-serve, just so that I can get as many people in as possible. 8)

Code: Select all

Driver Name
Age: (At least 18)
Car Number: (The defending champion gets #1 or #01, their choice, otherwise, any number from 0-99 and 00-09 is fair game. Since there is no reigning champion, #1 and #01 will not be used. I will resolve all number conflicts arbitrarily.)
Primary Sponsor:
Associate Sponsors: (Please don't put too many unless you're designing your own truck)
Nationality:
Manufacturer: (See Above)
Team: (Team name)
Team Location: Where is the team from? Giving me a country only works.
Where is this Driver Racing: List all canon series this driver is racing in.
Where Else is this Driver Racing: List all non-canon series this driver is racing in.

Liveries and How to Submit Trucks:

The carviewer and SHP template work was done by Smiffsden. I don't know who did the other templates. I zipped all of the templates together along with Carviewer for convenience's sake. All of the templates have the Rejectrucks logos and the like there. I personally use Photoshop CS2, which you can legally get for free on Adobe's website.

Templates and Carviewer Here: Mediafire.

Livery Guidelines: I included the show truck as a flat so that you can see how big the numbers should be and how they should be oriented. I should be able to read the numbers from far away. I care a lot more about the door numbers than the roof number. Basically, look at a NASCAR truck if you're unsure about what you should do with the numbers as far as their size is concerned. If you need a good number font, I can supply you with many good ones. :D

Also, please keep the Rejectrucks contigs on there. I know there are people that hate all of those stickers as much as they hate being Grosjeaned in the first corner, but keep them where they are. Thank you. :D

Submitting Trucks: Send them to cynon777 at gmail dot com before July 12. NR2003 likes .TGA files, but if you can't do that, a .BMP will do. Stay away from all other image formats.
If you actually have NR2003, then you can alternatively put yours on a .car file and send it to me. Import to a Chevy or Dodge mesh car and then send that to me. :D

Using Carviewer: Load it and go to File > Open DirectX Mesh, then load pickuptrucksuk.x. Now you can look at the truck in 3D. The .x file will use the card.jpg file as the texture, so replace card.jpg whenever you want to update the truck texture, and then hit Control + R to refresh it.

Well, seeing as I begged so hard for the Walt Disney Speedway, it would be atrocious not to join and so I'll get myself a SHP for bild-english.de Hasselhoff Motorsport.

If there is a round in the UK, I would intend on entering Cardel Racing United as a one off at that event.

I'm strongly considering an entry using the Ram Dakota. Havoline should be the sponsor. Count me as in! I've got a comedic Lithuanian driver name, Mindaugas Pingas.

You, sir, clearly have no taste

ZimSport will enter with one or two Commodore UTES, one of which will probably be driven by Ryan Zimmer. As for tracks, I'd suggest running with the F1RIRC at a few ovals, mostly because it'll look better on the wiki and it'll help bring the IRC closer to the rest of the RWRS series (it only shares a round with another canon series once I think). Also, THUNDERDOME!

To my knowledge: no. Although a shitton of other ovals/speedways do. And if the series is set in 2016, IFRC will be more than happy to have them tag along in Mexico. :)

Technically your first point is incorrect. Craftsman Trucks went there twice in the late nineties. But I agree with the sentiment.
