G'day all!
The archive's purpose is to avoid the other three subforums getting too clogged and to help new members find out about the history of some of the series, so they are better prepared before taking part in the present-day categories. Topics will be archived once discussion on it has dried up, usually when a series reaches another season or if it is considered inactive for a longer period of time (usually around four-five months, unless the topic is very important).
Archiving a topic is not necessary final - none of the topics are locked by default, so discussion may carry on if you wish, especially if you think that the topic has been archived too hastily and should be moved back to its appropriate subforum.
