That is a fairly good list. I can't think of more right now.

Does Alesi-Heidfeld count? They had a contact in Magny-Cours, and then had a big crash in Austria in 2000.

Don't forget Monaco 2011 for Pastor Maldonado and Lewis Hamilton. The crash that started it all.

Ahhh, the good old days when Hamilton loved Massa more than he loved Nicole. Given this year pecking order I wonder if they will get a few more chances to reconnect.

Alesi-Trulli, Canada 1998

IIRC, Adrian Sutil and Jarno Trulli at the 2009 Spanish and Brazilian Grand Prixs. Watch them bicker about it afterwards...

Did Raikonnen and Sutil not collide another time too....

IIRC Trulli also crashed into Alesi at pretty much the same spot a year later as well. So in fact 3 times in 2 years. I can't even begin to describe how outraged I was at those events when watching it live. As Alesi had made his usual brilliant start all three times & would have easily gotten onto the podium in both years (in his underpowered Sauber) had it not been for those incidents. Typical of the man's luck.

Also they had a bit of an incident at Germany 1991. Although I don't think they touched (which I always felt was down to Senna having 'learnt' to avoid contact in races possibly after critism following Suzuka 1990)

Spa 1995 I pretty sure they banged wheels. Can't remember if they also touched during Canada 1998, IIRC I don't think they did, but it was mighty close.

Apologies for the individual posts, rather than one long one (kept messing it up). Anyway Button also crashed into Trulli during the start at Monza 2001. Which you may recall is the race where everyone said they were going to be extra careful into the 1st corner after 9/11, Zanardi's crash & the death of a Marshal at the previous year's race.

Everyone apart from Jacques Villeneuve agreed to take it easy on the first lap. Which is probably a reason why he managed to score a point that afternoon, despite being in a car that was so bad it would end up qualifying behind a Minardi on merit at the next race...

I think that was more down to Alonso being a boss and Villeneuve being crap. The 2001 BAR wasn't that bad, really.

Senna/Mansell also in Spa 1987
Schumacher/Hill also in Suzuka 1993
Andretti/Berger, Interlagos and Hockenheim 1993

2nd Räikkönen/Sutil incident was Nürburgring 2009.

Comas/Boutsen (team-mates), Interlagos and Hungaroring 1992. Herbert was also involved in both incidents but really taken out by different driver (Boutsen in Brazil, Comas in Hungary)

Michael Schumacher and Ralf Schumacher - Luxembourg 1997 and Spain 2000

I know Spain wasn't much of a collision, before you lecture me about it.

Alesi & Brundle at Brazil 1992 & possibly Monaco 1995? And I've got a feeling at some point during 1989 (either the Hungarian GP or Spainish GP IIRC).

But perhaps even more famous than their on track collisons, was their several near punch ups

Like Quali at San Marino 1992, (Where Alesi threaten to kill Brundle)

Like Quali at Belgium 1994 & possibly quali for Spain 1995.

Funnily enough, apparently those two are now good friends.

It doesn't actually fit into the topic itself, but I just thought of Alesi crashing at the exact same corner twice in two years:

A1-Ring, Remus hairpin:
1997 - hitting Irvine while running waaaay outside of points, and one Sauber - I think it was Herbert? - has to take evasive action to avoid getting involved
1998 - shutting the door on Fisichella while both running in the points. Interestingly, now he hits a Benetton while running one the previous year, and now he's drove a Sauber, which almost got into last year's accident!

- Hungary 1989 (collision)
- Belgium 1989 (collision)
- (Spain 1989 was a close battle that didn't involve contact)
- Brazil 1992 (collision)
- San Marino 1992 (collision - practice)
- Belgium 1994 (blocking - qualifying)
- Spain 1995 (blocking)
- Monaco 1995 (crash to avoid collision)

Also Brundle and Senna: 1983 in British F3, and then again at Australia in 1989.

NASCAR has had former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya collide with Clint Bowyer twice in the final races before NASCAR's Chase for the Cup in consecutive seasons. That would be in total of races about equal to two F1 seasons at least in total.
Atlanta 2011, Bowyer hard into the wall and Montoya continued to finish with little damage.
Richmond 2012 Bowyer spun from a cut tire and brought out the caution then saved enough fuel to win the race. Montoya also finished although a lap or two down behind Bowyer as he was before he cut Bowyer's tire with the exhaust pipe.

During this confrontation, I remember thinking Brundle had obviously learnt to keep his helmet on, whislt Alesi was probably threatening to kill him on this particularly occassion. (video footage of it can be found on the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSLqQgbcL5c at 1:15:15)

BTW thanks for the clarification on the other stuff Midgrid. :)

Might as well correct you there. It was actually Fischella’s fault as Alesi’s old buddy, Brundle says from 1.13 onwards on the link below;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UomWLVfiUQk

I know I keep banging on about this, but this was yet another example of Alesi’s bad luck, this time having been spun around (although admittedly Jean did stall it afterwards). But a particularly gutting incident I recall since he & Fisco stated that race from the front row & probably would have picked up a half decent result that day.

Also, DC & M Schumi and their famous contact at Spa 1998 (You bathplugging tried to kill me). And then again (earlier that same year) at Argentina 1998.

Also JPM at Brazil & Malaysia 2002 & Europe 2003. Also they came mighty close to touching one another & possibly bang wheels at Brazil & Austria 2001, & San Marino practice in 2004.

JPM sure liked doing that to Bowyer in NASCAR much like he did with Fischella. Now if Bowyer had watched some F1 in 2002 and 2003, he'd never gotten wrecked at Atlanta by JPM nor would Bowyer have won at Richmond in 2012.

Also, Webber and Rosberg (2006 Brazil as Team-mates, 2010 Korea and now: 2013 Bahrain).

NASCAR should not be elaborated on here because otherwise we would have a list that's really really long -- because of unavoidable crashes, Daytona, Talladega, and the short tracks.

Paul Tracy/Alex Tagliani

During the 2006 Champcar race at San Jose, Paul Tracy causes a collision that was idiotic even by his usual standards by rejoining the track from an escape road straight into the path of Alex Tagliani. Naturally Tagliani wasn't impressed and fisticuffs ensued.

Ironically the next race at Denver saw them start on the same row together and wouldn't you know it, Tracy puts poor Tags into the wall on the first lap before going on to collide with Sebastien Bourdais on the final lap which came close to Tracy getting into another fight with the Frenchman. He was penalized 3 points and fined $25,000 for avoidable contact and his probation received from the San Jose incident was extended.

Coulthard and Hakkinen hit eachother 4 times.
Mika also limped over DC's frontwing at the start of Hockenheim '94

Fisichella and Ralf Schumacher
Argentina '97, Nurburgring '97 (Sandwich with the ferrari of brotherhood)

Trulli and alesi met 3 times, after twice in '98 they did it over at the first corner in '99.

I won't mention any NASCAR crash action beyond the handful of former F1 drivers in NASCAR colliding with NASCAR regulars. Not many of those drivers in NASCAR's history as we all know and Daytona and Talladega are off limits due to the nature of racing post 1987 when Bobby Allison went into the catchfence creating the restrictor plate era.

Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill (Suzuka/93, Adelaide/94, Silverstone/95 and Monza/95 ----> Schumacher and Hill also had a crash togeher at imola in 1994 soon after the restart, which dropped Hill to last position, which makes five.
