Stewards Report
Car #17 (Marko Jantscher) has received a 45 point penalty for causing an avoidable collision with Car #15 (Daniel Melville), Car #24 (Akira Yamamura) and Car #30 (Martyn Rietacher) in qualifying
Car #25 (Andrej Kremnicky) has received a 20 point penalty for overtaking under yellow flags

Firstly, I lost the race report like a grade-A stooge, and since I don't feel like spending an entire afternoon writing it up again, this will have to do. Secondly, I'll need confirmation of who will be driving the following cars at Mexico:

Gillet - Car #5
Simpson - Car #9
Falik Arrows - Car #17
Beirao - Car #20
Aeroracing - Car #24

Finally, after my recent acquisition of something called a life, it has been decided that I will not run the F2RWRS beyond the end of the 2016 season. We're currently working on someone to take over the category for 2017, but more details will come to hand once we can sort out whether someone more competent than myself (read: Anybody) is available to run the series.

I could host the series but I haven't got a clue as to how I would get the software to work on the 7 and a bit year old P.C at home.

It has been previously noted that Martin van der Meyde (or possibly Maeyede...the one in F1RICS) will be driving the Gillet in Mexico.

As I mentioned in chat last night, if there was a dearth of realistic propositions to run F2 then I'd work out some way of dovetailing it with AR2.0 next season.

That said, running two series is less than ideal, and I'd rather not have to stretch to doing both.

One solution that has been proposed is for me to step in and take over F2RWRS, given I have quite a bit of free time, with someone else taking over RTCC, a job for which Salamander has expressed interest in.

This is probably a bit too early to ask this question, but what is the plan with the transfer of running F2RWRS? Will the existing rules be kept? And will the platform (GP4) still be used?

Just curious because both of these things will have a major impact on how the series turns out and may influence my own decisions as a team owner.

Pasta and I had a brief discussion about this; if he runs the series, he'll use rFactor instead of GP4. The current five engines (Holden, Aston, BMW, Ford and Renault as Lancia's replacement) will supply the power units, and we discussed a sixth, rebadgable unit too. He's okay with the general formula of the series too, so don't expect massive changes; just useful tweaks. GP4 as a game is good, but it's incredibly difficult to mod correctly.

If I was running it, I'd probably want to shorten the calendar and do Feature/Sprint races...but I'll stick to trialing that in RDS/AR2.0 next season. :P

Cool that's fair enough. What I'm mainly interested in is the current daft pre-qualifying format. If that's getting ditched with everyone starting the races (which I guess would be possible with rFactor), then I may re-evaluate my junior team line-ups... ;)

I realise I am not the team owner of Gulf M/Power, but I already agreed with MinardiFan that Alessandro Lucarelli would run for them wherever his IFRC commitments didn't clash (all but one race left IIRC).

Good to see that there's a couple of people who stepped up to run the series. :)

If all else fails, I could run the series using GP2, given that it's the only racing game I know how to mod. Does F2RWRS have a live stream? I don't think so, but I'm just clarifying...

Well, the Mexican F2RWRS round happens to clash with the Russian IFRC round which was already run a few weeks ago, so Lucarelli (and any of the other 41 drivers who took part in that weekend) are unavailable as substitutes. :P

On a different (and weird) note, with Lucarelli's victory that's 11 race winners in 11 races thus far this season.

If I was running the series, I would use rFactor and the chances are, it would be spec chassis using either this...
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... 20by%20ITO
The car would be in super heavy trim by the way!
Or this...
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... ula%202013
Or a 650ish hp version of this...
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... rix%202011

Sporting regulations would remain the same by the way and pre qualifying would be dropped.

Please note the chances of me taking over the series are very slim.

2016 F2RWRS Telmex Mexican Grand Prix

Pre-Qualifying

If there ever was a weekend where a team just plain sucked, it was the Red Bull team at Mexico City, as neither Sebastian Prost or Cave Johnson looked comfortable in the car around the high-speed sections of the circuit. Indeed, Prost was so uncomfortable he ended up writing off his race car at the end of the esses complex, necessitating his team bringing out the spare car, while Johnson was baulked by debutant Andrea Bianchi on his hot lap, sealing both their fates. It was all smooth sailing for the Beirao team in the meantime, as Nikov Time hauled the team kicking and screaming through pre-qualifying, with the Fusion team joining them on Mitchell Macklin's return to the team.

1. N. Time (Beirao-BMW): 1:15.852
2. M. Macklin (Fusion-Holden): +0.569

3. G. Massinion (Jones-Ford): +0.832
4. J. McAllister (Dofasco-Chrysler): +0.838
5. J. Rueckert (Jones-Ford): +0.843
6. A. Kremnicky (Aeroracing-Alfa Romeo): +0.901
7. M. van der Maeyede (Fusion-Holden): +0.957
8. E. Swerts (Dofasco-Chrysler): +0.975
9. J. Antonio Soares (Beirao-BMW): +1.010
10. A. Bianchi (Aeroracing-Alfa Romeo): +1.062
11. C. Johnson (Red Bull WRT-Holden): +1.266
12. S. Prost (Red Bull WRT-Holden): +1.551

Qualifying

Compared to Spa, there wasn't much to write about qualifying in Mexico City, except that Nikov Time confirmed his status as a one-lap specialist with his second pole in his third stat, with Alberto Cara joining him on the front row as he tries to make amends for Michelin's screwup in Belgium. Having somehow extended his lead in the championship last time out, Diego Alvarez Torrente was a solid 4th on the grid behind Lamberigts, and ahead of the recently-promoted Gregor Pascal and the returning Dan Greenlaw. Meanwhile, Joao Antonio Soares, Benoit Voeckler and IndyCar frontrunner Martin van der Meyede will all make their F2 debut starts from 17th, 22nd and 15th respectively, with Ryan Zimmer and Luc Pellerin making their returns from 20th and 21st on the grid on a track where overtaking can be notoriously difficult once the race rhythm has settled down.

1. N. Time (Beirao-BMW): 1:15.911
2. A. Cara (Simpson-BMW): +0.151
3. W. Lamberigts (RonDen-Zastava): +0.218
4. D. Alvarez Torrente (Plus One-Maserati): +0.488
5. G. Pascal (Gillet-BMW): +0.529
6. D. Greenlaw (Alitalia-Abarth): +0.567
7. M. Rietacher (Plus One-Maserati): +0.617
8. J. Davies (Aston Martin): +0.666
9. B. van Nieuwenhuijzen (RonDen-Zastava): +0.739
10. M. Macklin (Fusion-Holden): +0.820
11. M. Ageymang-Badu (Alitalia-Abarth): +0.886
12. G. Pazzini (MRT-BMW): +0.896
13. Y. Katayama (Falik Arrows-BMW): +0.896
14. M. van der Meyede (Gillet-BMW): +0.960
15. J. Hamilton (MRT-BMW): +0.976
16. C. Simpson (Young Lions-Holden): +0.985
17. J. Antonio Soares (Beirao-BMW): +1.094
18. M. van der Maeyede (Fusion-Holden): +1.119
19. M. Simon (Aston Martin): +1.187
20. R. Zimmer (Young Lions-Holden): +1.329
21. L. Pellerin (Simpson-BMW): +1.375
22. B. Voeckler (Falik Arrows-BMW): +1.999

Aston Martin rues another lost win, looks to the future to build on 2016
Shortly after Jordan Davies blew what would have been victory for Aston Martin, Brett Johnson was quick to point out Davies' inconsistent results. "He's only scored three times this season. Pace-wise, Marchesi was better than him. He needs to get more points quickly if he is to have a chance of getting signed for 2017." When asked about the performances of the team as a whole, Johnson said that he was pleased of the teams' progress this season. "The fact that we're still in the hunt for the Constructors' championship is proof enough that we are one of the best teams in the series."

Source: Sebastian Prost rumoured to sign with Aston
Amid lots of rumours of new drivers coming in Aston Martin in 2017, there is a rumour going around that Sebastian Prost has been linked to a drive in 2017. Prost is currently 21st in the series so far with Red Bull World Race Team, with two fifth place finishes and a sixth place finish. Prost was also the runner-up in the 2014 Rejects of LFS, losing by two points to Cave Johnson.

I'm going to put Justin Case in for the last 3 rounds instead of Lamberigts, because RonDen really needs to score some points for the championship.
If other teams are interested for Lamberigts, and this doesnt clash with interest from F1RWRS teams, then they can have a go. Remember he's still a top qualifier.
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

Consider me interested, if only to try and get Massinion some race time. If it's okay with Tristan I'd like to sub Rueckert and put Lamberigts in his place. I'll put the request out!

I think this means he's not available for Japan because of F1RWRS commitments, but available for all other races.

Lamberigts is fine to do double-duty in Japan, as F1 and F2 are both racing in Fuji that weekend.

And if Rueckert is being subbed at Jones, MRT are interested in hiring him for 2017 as F2 lead driver and F1 reserve driver.

Jason Hamilton punting off the driver who almost killed him a couple years back, that seems like an odd coincedence ;)

And can I be put on the waiting list please.

Christ Wizzie you'd better let Tristan know! He's about to put him in a seat at Beirao for 2017!

But with Rueckert not in danger of missing out for 2017 (thats two teams after him now), I'll take on Lamberigts for the rest of the season, to partner Massinion.

2016 F2RWRS Chinese Grand Prix

Pre-Qualifying

The idea of Sammy Jones hiring qualifying ace Wouter Lamberigts for the final three weekends was a solid idea at the very least. However, he certainly didn't count on the Belgium binning it at the final corner on a drying Zhuhai track, ending his and the team's weekend on the spot as others took advantage of the ever-quickening track. The end results were rather similar to Mexico City a few weeks before with Beirao and Fusion making it through into the main game with relatively little difficulty.

1. N. Time (Beirao-BMW): 1:20.240
2. M. Macklin (Fusion-Holden): +0.179
3. A. Yamamura (Aeroracing-Alfa Romeo): +0.420
4. S. Prost (Red Bull WRT-Holden): +0.525
5. M. van der Maeyede (Fusion-Holden): +0.527
6. J. McAllister (Dofasco-Chrysler): +0.552
7. G. Massinion (Jones-Ford): +0.560
8. A. Kremnicky (Aeroracing-Alfa Romeo): +0.644
9. E. Swerts (Dofasco-Chrysler): +0.648
10. L. Seron (Beirao-BMW): +0.700
11. C. Johnson (Red Bull WRT-Holden): +0.727
12. W. Lamberigts (Jones-Ford): +2.523

Qualifying

It was another tense yet fairly uneventful qualifying session under overcast skies at Zhuhai, as Alberto Cara exorcised the demons of the last two races to take a convincing pole position for Simpson Motorsport. Nikov Time was the closest to the Tropican in 2nd place, while the two Alitalias came back to the fore with 4th for Marcel Ageymang-Badu and 6th for Dan Greenlaw, but not before the latter was pinged for blocking title contender Gianluigi Pazzini in the closing stages of the session. While Diego Alvarez Torrente did the bare minimum to qualify 5th, none of his title rivals were able to do much of note, with Pazzini 13th, Carter Simpson 15th and Bastiaan van Nieuwenhuijzen a sub-par 17th on the grid.

1. A. Cara (Simpson-BMW): 1:19.748
2. N. Time (Beirao-BMW): +0.160
3. J. Davies (Aston Martin): +0.230
4. M. Ageymang-Badu (Alitalia-Abarth): +0.264
5. D. Alvarez Torrente (Plus One-Maserati): +0.299
6. D. Greenlaw (Alitalia-Abarth): +0.314
7. M. Macklin (Fusion-Holden): +0.415
8. M. Jantscher (Falik Arrows-BMW): +0.421
9. J. Case (RonDen-Zastava): +0.467
10. A. Lucarelli (Simpson-BMW): +0.509
11. G. Pascal (Gillet-BMW): +0.515
12. Y. Katayama (Falik Arrows-BMW): +0.517
13. G. Pazzini (MRT-BMW): +0.535
14. M. van der Maeyede (Fusion-Holden): +0.561
15. C. Simpson (Young Lions-Holden): +0.564
16. D. Melville (Young Lions-Holden): +0.619
17. B. van Nieuwenhuijzen (RonDen-Zastava): +0.635
18. L. Seron (Beirao-BMW): +0.661
19. M. Rietacher (Plus One-Maserati): +0.718
20. J-V. Albertini (Gillet-BMW): +0.818
21. M. Simon (Aston Martin): +0.857
22. B. Voeckler (MRT-BMW): +1.719

When I got back to the pits, my manager guy said that he was gonna talk to Mr. Johnson and that I should wait outside his office, so I did that and he went in, and then I heard a lot of shouting and bad words so I went and played Pokemon on my DS instead with my headphones in because my Mum said I should do that whenever that happens when I'm out racing. So it was like 20 minutes later that my manager came back out of the office and he told me that I'm not driving for Mr. Johnson any more, I don't really know why he did that but I guess it's okay. He said he was gonna sort something out with me to drive for Mr. Rogers' team for the rest of the year, so I guess that's where I'm driving now. They haven't been doing so well lately, but I'll try and change that. :D

Sebastian Prost reportedly "all but confirmed" for 2017 Aston drive
With growing reports that Jordan Davies have moved to GRM for 2017, reports are now coming out that Aston boss Brett Johnson had already found a replacement for him. It is reported to be Sebastian Prost, currently driving for the Red Bull World Race Team, and who currently has 11 points in four starts this season. Prost's season has been affected by numerous DNPQs, though this clearly hasn't affected Johnson. "He is a supremely talented driver," says Johnson. "He has the potential to bring us back to our winning ways next year. He seemed excited when I offered him a contract. He has yet to sign on the dotted line, but I think it is more of a formality than anything else."

When asked about what went wrong with Jordan Davies, Johnson had a few words to say. "I think he's yet to mature. He keeps finding ways to crash the car and he cracks under pressure. He's a fast driver, but he needs to grow a bit. Ultimately, I think that a year at GRM will be beneficial to Jordan. It'll help him become a better driver."

OOC: Seriously, how many teams does he need to drive for in a season? Seems very silly if you ask me.

Oh well. Pay driver wanted for Aston Martin....

Diego's little brother Jorge fancies a go to take his mind off of F3RWRS...unless Wizzie would prefer no double-dutying.
