2016 IFRC season: NC race on P17, 2017 topic soon

Post by Nuppiz »

So, allow me to present you the International Formula Reject Challenge, the successor to Rejects of LFS. As the game I'm using is totally different to LFS, and the amount of race weekends has increased from 7 to 12, I've made the rules somewhat simpler than in RoLFS. Here are the main points, besides the changes in game mechanics of course:

  • No credit system whatsoever. The cars can no longer be upgraded, nor can you buy DNQ bailouts of sabotage your competitors. If you fail to get in the top 14 of your heat, that's the end of your weekend.
  • Three engine choices: Judd, Cosworth and Zytek. Judd is the most powerful but also the most unreliable, Cosworth is in the middle and Zytek is the least powerful but most reliable. The differences are still small enough that it is entirely possible to pick your engine based on personal preference without it becoming a hindrance, but one engine manufacturer must supply as close to 33% of the teams as possible. Engine rebadging is still allowed.
  • Free tyre choices. The failure of 2015 and my lack of understanding when it comes to F1C's tyre physics means that the different manufacturers are now purely a cosmetic feature, and there is no limit on how many teams can be supplied by a single manufacturer. You can have any tyre manufacturer you want as your supplier, as long as the brand in question is still active (so no Engleberts here...). If you don't want to pick any particular tyre manufacturer as your supplier, I'll choose a "generic" brand for you purely for wiki purposes.
  • Two heats with 21 cars each (42 entries per race weekend in total), with the top 14 of each heat continuing into the final (28 total). If less than 14 cars finish in a heat race, then more cars from the other heat are accepted into the final. If the combined total is still less than 28, then the cars that completed the farthest distance without actually finishing qualify as well. Unlike in RoLFS the heats aren't determined via a separate qualifying session; instead, I'll just crudely split the field in half based on car numbers. Cars with uneven numbers will go to Heat 1, and cars with even numbers go to Heat 2.
  • There'll be 12+1 events on the calendar, with only a handful on the same venues as the other RWRS series.

So without further delay, here's the entry list for 2016. Ultimate Racing, despite finishing second in last year's teams' championship, has already been omitted due to Shadaza's withdrawal from the PMMF.

If you want to start designing your own liveries and helmets, you can find the templates here: http://www.paste.fi/file/13695880496216

Jones Racing will take a supply of Cosworth engines, which will become Ford Cosworths please! Also, Connor O'Heagan (IRL) will drive one car, the second seat will be decided between Matt Brinson and Gilles Massinion at a later date. As for tyres, I'm not too bothered really, so I'll stick with Bridgestones from the previous season.

Scuderia Vittore will be using Michelins, and our Cosworth engines will be badged as Acuras. I'll be designing a different livery to that blue/red/white one I posted in the old RoLFS thread. We would also like to announce Marcos Marcia, Scott Marsden and Alexis Tantovich as our reserve drivers.

Marcos Marcia is free for anyone to sign, he has F3RWRS and RoLFS experience :)

MRT will return in 2016 with BMW-Cosworthless engines, which thanks to Max and his cronies will be frozen, and Michelin tyres. Joel Melrose will be the lead driver while we'll leave the second seat open for anyone who feels like dumping a driver there.

R.T.S Would like Judd engines (rebadged as Assolutos) with Pirelli tires. If Alex Dorval wants to continue with R.T.S he is more than welcome to. Otherwise, the seats are open for those who want the drive, although R.T.S Formula Abarth standout Markus Jacobson (Finnish, fyi) will be the test/reserve driver.

Kamaha will only enter one car so not to dilute resources from the F1RWRS and F3RWRS programs (plus gives others a go).

Our sole driver will be two time Formula Nippon runner up and two time Japanese GT racing runner up Nobou Takahashi who did enter the ill fated 2012 F1RLFS Cup. Nobou is still bitter that Sunshine picked Shinobu Katayama over him, so has a point to prove.

We will use Yamaha tuned (and badged) Zytek engines and we shall use Dunlop tyres.

In a news announcement today a completely new team was formed with the intention of competing in the International Formula Racing Challenge in 2016. Speedworld Racing, founded by 40 year old Austrian businessman Alexander Konigg. The team is planning to run one car using a Cosworth engine and Continental tyres. While a driver has yet to be officially selected it is believed that he or she will have to bring some money. The livery has yet to be designed but the team have said that they would like it to be like the Benetton 1989 livery but with minor sponsorship from Mad-Croc Castrol and 7 up. A PR spokesperson for the team said that they are hoping to get on the grid for 2016 but if that doesn't eventuate they will focus on preparing for 2017.

In other words, please put me on the waiting list. If anyone wants to do the livery or subimt a driver then you are welcome.

List updated as of the most recent info. As Kamaha decided to run only one car, it guarantees Cynon a slot as well. IslandAutomatic has been added to the waiting list.

Currently the most popular engine choice is Cosworth, with 6 of the 8 supply slots already taken.

In a surprising announcement, Japanese car manufacturer Acura has entered into a deal with Scuderia Vittore which will see a works team on the IRFC grid next season. The deal comes in the wake of Vittore losing most of their major backers over the off-season, including engine suppliers Mercedes Benz, leaving the Italian team cash-strapped. Jose Braggia, founder of Scuderia Vittore, said that the arrangement would bring about a "bright future" for Scuderia Vittore.

"The deal will be highly beneficial for us as we work with an established car company" he said "and it will hopefully last for years to come".

The deal will see the Scuderia Vittore squad renamed to Acura Racing Team, and the cars powered by Acura engines, tuned by British tuning specialists Cosworth.

However, some doubt the longevity of the Acura-Vittore partnership. Honda has yet to make a decision on the future of the Acura brand after "worringly low" sales for the previous two quarters. Plus One Group CEO Luke Knight is reportedly in talks to buy the brand name.

This means that on the official entry list SV will be renamed to Acura Racing Team, however still with an Italian license.

Right, so we'll have Acura in IFRC, ArrowTech-Acuri in F1RWRS, and Aurico in F3RWRS? This will be fun!

I won't be back home until Sunday, so I can't update the entry list nor give you livery previews. However, I can confirm that the liveries have to be in PNG or BMP format, and Fusion can run two cars.

Otherwise, the seats are open for those who want the drive, although R.T.S Formula Abarth standout Markus Jacobson (Finnish, fyi) will be the test/reserve driver.

Dorval would be delighted to race for a second season.

Restov Racing will use Pirellis, and our Cosworth engines will be rebadged as Lada's :) I'll give a livery a go, but it'll probaably look shite, so I might need someone to pick up the pieces :) Our drivers will be Serge Blanco (French) and Henry Paul (English), and Abdel Genazzi (Algerian) will be our reserve/test driver.

Edit: actually, bathplug that. Could some kind soul please do me a tasteful blue, white and red livery please? :) (Similar to Restovs cars in pastas F1 and the LifeGP series)

Gianluigi Pazzini has been made an offer to stay in F2RWRS at the last minute, and as a result, is looking to nullify his contract with De Friis Motorsport.

As compensation Scuderia Alitalia will pay-off his contract and offer Alessandro Lucarelli as an alternative should they wish.
